OUR VICTORY IN CHRIST III: WALKING IN THE SPIRIT

3/3

After getting this knowledge, thatโ€™s when you have to walk in the Spirit; obedience to His leading, to perpetual victory. You can have this knowledge and still struggle if you donโ€™t obey the Spiritโ€™s leading. What people call consecration is simply a life that is completely sold out to the Spiritโ€™s leading.

And I pray for you that the grace to know and to obey, receive it now in Jesus' name. Amen!

Charis kai Shalom (Grace and Peace).

OUR VICTORY IN CHRIST III: WALKING IN THE SPIRIT

2/3

What kind of fight are we fighting? It is a good fight of faith; what we now believe in Christ Jesus that we are victorious (1Tim. 6:12; 2Tim. 4:7; Jud. 3).

They say, 'Knowledge is Power'. Thatโ€™s true, your knowledge of who you are in Christ will show how powerful you are.

Apostle Paul wrote to the churches in Corinth that our fight is not a combat fight but a mental fight (2Cor. 10:3-6). I have articles on this on my blog, you can check them out.

Areas in your life where you are struggling or stumbling shows the level of knowledge you have about those matters. Apostle Paul wrote that we've been blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places (Eph. 1:2), have an inheritance from the Father (Eph. 1:18), and we are far above all (Eph. 1:21) and all things are under His feet, by implication, under our feet too (Eph. 1:22). Anything that seems to be above us shows that our eyes of understanding have not yet received wisdom and revelation for us to know (Eph. 1:17, 18). So our prayers should be like Paul's, for light and understanding on that matter (Eph. 1:15-23).

Paul when writing to the churches in Galatia, he was displeased with how they started off in the Spirit and later wound off in the flesh. There was an introduction to a kind of knowledge that affected what they first believed, a kind of knowledge that made them feel that the battle is of themselves (Gal. 3:1-3). Almost to the close of his letter he told them that the war is between the Spirit and the flesh, not they and the flesh (Gal. 5:16-18). Prior to that he wrote, "A little leaven leavens the whole lump." (Gal.5.9 ). Look at how The Amplified Bible puts it:

Gal. 5:9 AMP
A little leaven (a slight inclination to error, or a few false teachers) leavens the whole lump [it perverts the whole conception of faith or misleads the whole church].

You see, let's mind what we hear, just a little error gave Eve a new perspective about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

OUR VICTORY IN CHRIST III: WALKING IN THE SPIRIT

1/2

Today we conclude on this journey of THIS GOSPEL. It's quite a journey on looking at what the gospel truly is and how it is powerful for our salvation. Then we went on to look at the gospel of Christ on the matter on what Christ did for us to get us saved. Then we proceeded a little bit further on looking at our new identity in Christ, and then to our victory in Christ.

On the matter of our victory, we explained that we are no longer under a curse, and can't be cursed at all. And we saw how victorious are we over sin and the devil. And it's a good thing to close this with how we can perpetually live a victorious life.

The only way we can live perpetually victorious is by walking in the Spirit.

Let us start with these texts;

1Sam. 17:47 NLT
And everyone will know that the LORD does not need weapons to rescue his people. It is His battle, not ours. The LORD will give you to us!"

Jude 1:24 NKJV
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.

First we have to understand that we are not fighting to win or fighting for victory, because we've won before the fight started and we are victorious already. But we are fighting from victory. What does that mean? Why fight when we've already won the battle?

To fight from victory is to manifest what is already yours. For example, a man is arrested for a crime he never committed, he would have to fight for his freedom to prove his innocence. And after the court has found him not guilty he would be declared free. Now he is still held bound in chains, even though the charges had been dropped, he would need the chains to be taken off in order to actualize his freedom. That is what it means, to fight from victory is to really actualize it.

Now to the text earlier shared, the battle isnโ€™t ours, but the Lord's. If it's ours, we will fail and stumble many times, but thank God is not unto us, but unto Him. I'm not fighting to win, God already did that for me in Christ.

OUR VICTORY IN CHRIST II: VICTORY OVER SIN AND THE DEVIL

3/3

Eph. 6:10-13, 17-18
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints

In our last September Reloaded, I shared explicitly on this armour of God. But let's look at the Word of God and prayer. And yes, we've seen the Word of God already.

We do not fight for victory, but we fight from victory. These two are different.

Jesus fought for our victory, but now we are just fighting from victory. This illustration will help; when a man is arrested for a crime he never committed, he would have to fight for his freedom to prove his innocence. And after the court has found him not guilty he would be declared free. Now he is still held bound in chains, even though the charges had been dropped, he would need the chains to be taken off in order to actualize his freedom. That is what it means to fight from this victory we now have in Christ to really actualize it.

And you can do that in the place of prayer, by confessing and affirming our new identity in Christ.

This is how we exercise our victory in Christ, over sin and the devil; the right consciousness from the Word and in the place of prayer. I understand that you may be struggling, but that weakness does not define your position in Christ, you are a victor, manifest it!

Peace! โœŒ

OUR VICTORY IN CHRIST II: VICTORY OVER SIN AND THE DEVIL

2/3

Sin and the devil have been conquered already! But why does it look like both haven't been conquered yet?

First of all, the Word of God admonishes us to desire the sincere milk of the Word, so that we may grow (1Pet. 2:2). And it gave us more reason why; it is also able to save our souls (Jas. 1:21). The soul is a composite of the will, the emotion and the mind. And our mind contains the memory, so the mind has memories of what we did in the past.

So what the Word of God does to our mind is to wash off those effects of those memories on us (Jn. 15:3; 17:17; Eph. 5:26). That's how it saves our soul. And as you begin to grow in the Lord, you begin to grow out of your past life into the new man that you've become.

Does that mean we will forget all of that? No, but the effect it does on us (that is, the trigger). That's what Paul was trying to explain in Romans 12:2

Rom. 12:2
Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.

Does the Word of God transform our mind just like that? No, it is a process. And it takes, first of all, the art of meditation (Col. 3:2, 16), and then obedience; acting on the Word of God (Ps. 119:9-11).

The acting on the Word demands that you always confess the Word; your new identity in Christ, and obeying every instruction to living a perpetual life of victory.

OUR VICTORY IN CHRIST II: VICTORY OVER SIN AND THE DEVIL

1/2

Christ's resurrection is a proof that we now have victory over sin and the devil (Rom. 6:6-12; Col. 2:14, 15, 20-23). The Bible says, "He [Jesus] was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification." (Rom. 4:25).

We have seen from one of our past episodes about the substitutionary work of Christ. You know how his death was translated to the price for our sins. But how does His resurrection translate to our justification?

Also we have seen that the word, "justification" means "to be declared not guilty." How does this work?

Because we've been found guilty of sin, and Jesus paid the price for our sin and also took our punishment, that's why we we are declared not guilty; someone paid and took our place. That's justification.

Rom. 3:23, 24
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

But His resurrection translates to our justification. Justification comes with victory.
Let's take this illustration; a man was accused of a crime. But later he was found not guilty. Has the man been defeated in the court of law or not? No, he hasn't. And that's victory.

Christ's resurrection gave us victory and justification. And here's how both work in us? When the devil brings your past sins and play them before you, you play him your victory and justification that that person died with Christ, and that is a new person that rose up with Christ, you are not condemned and judged by that past anymore. And also play him of how Christ defeated him and will finally defeat him during the millennial reign.

OUR VICTORY IN CHRIST I: NO CURSE

3/3

We are no longer trying to be blessed by Obeying the laws, we are blessed that's why we are obedient to God; our obedience to God is a proof that we are blessed.

If the people of God under the old covenant are seen as a people that are blessed and can't be cursed, how much more for us under the new covenant of grace. This is one victory that we have in Christ that must be properly established in our heart; we are not under any form of curse, and no man can curse a blessed man.

Stop blaming your village people for the misshapenings in your life and take hold of the blessing; be responsible for your life's decision. If things are not going well and it looks like a trace in your family bloodline, then you've got to take your eyes off that and look at your victory in Christ by taking responsibility for your own life as a blessed man. You are not them, you are a new man in Christ.

Whoever that told you that you're cursed from your bloodline, I've come with a better news that a new man in Christ is blessed and can never be cursed.

Say glory!

OUR VICTORY IN CHRIST I: NO CURSE

2/3

God Himself can't curse man, but the ground. The cursed ground made the blessed man to Labour and sweat before he could have something to eat and survive. And that made it to seem that that man was actually cursed, but he wasn't.

And that is akin to the curse of the law. Paul says that the law is not sinful (Rom. 7:7), it is spiritual (Rom. 7:14). But when writing to the churches of Galatia, he talked about the curse of the law (Gal. 3:13). What does that mean?

Just as how man was made to labour and sweat before he could eat and survive, man was made to practise the law before he could be "accepted" by God. But such effort was futile.

Gal. 3:10-13
10 For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, โ€œCursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the law, to perform them.โ€
11 Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, โ€œThe righteous man shall live by faith.โ€
12 However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, โ€œHe who practices them shall live by them.โ€
13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for usโ โ€”for it is written, โ€œCursed is everyone who hangs on a treeโ€โ โ€”

Moses placed before God's people life and death, blessing and cursing. But he advised them to choose life (Deut. 30:19). What about the blessing? Are they not meant to choose that?

Earlier on chapter 11, Moses said this:
Deut. 11:26-28
26 โ€œSee, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse:
27 the blessing, if you listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, which I am commanding you today;
28 and the curse, if you do not listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside from the way which I am commanding you today, by following other gods which you have not known.

They are not to choose the blessing but they are to choose to obey the commandments do that they can be blessed. But remember, the curse of the law. However, when we choose life, who is Jesus (Jn. 1:1-5, 12-14; 14:6), we become blessed.

OUR VICTORY IN CHRIST I: NO CURSE

1/2

This volume of our monthly spiritual capsule, THIS GOSPEL, is divided into four: this gospel (Jan.-Mar.), the Gospel of Christ (Apr. & May), our identity in Christ (Jun., Jul. & Nov.) and our victory in Christ.

It's a progressive flow of thought, and if you missed any, check it out on our Telegram group chat (t.me/beinglikejesusblog).

The best way to introduce this part of our series is to let us know that we are not under a curse, and we can't be cursed.

The first place where the word 'curse' was mentioned was to the serpent (Gen. 3:14) and then to the ground (Gen. 3:17). God cursed the serpent, but to the man, He cursed the ground for his sake. Why did He not curse man but the ground?

Because He had already blessed man before the fall (Gen. 1:28). Numbers 22-24 give us a better explanation to this.

Prophet Balaam was sent to curse the people of God (Numb. 22:6). But God told him not to go because a blessed people can't be cursed (Numb. 22:12).

Numb. 22:12
God said to Balaam, โ€œDo not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.โ€

Even when Balaam tried to curse them, God put His words in his mouth.

Numb. 23:8
โ€œHow shall I curse whom God has not cursed?
And how can I denounce whom the LORD has not denounced?

And even after much pressure from King Balak to curse God's people, Balaam said this:
Numb. 23:20
โ€œBehold, I have received a command to bless;
When He has blessed, then I cannot revoke it.

This aroused Balak's anger and he said this:
Numb. 24:10b
โ€œI called you to curse my enemies, but behold, you have persisted in blessing them these three times!

A man that is blessed can't be cursed. We are the people of God, and so we are not cursed, and can't be cursed; we are eternally blessed.

OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST II: NEW CREATION REALITIES

2/2

Eph. 2:5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved.
Eph.2.8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--
Eph.2.9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

When it comes to matters like this, you need to understand that no matter what you do, as far as it is in the flesh (the old man), it cannot get you saved.

And the moment a man gets saved, his spirit becomes alive; he is born again. And as a baby that learns how to walk and do other things, so is the new man in Christ. He will have to learn the ways of God and grow thereby. It's okay if you fall, but it won't be okay if you remain in that state. You've got to rise up and press on again!

If you fall, have this in mind that that is your dead self (old man) trying to act as though it is still alive. Remember, a beheaded chicken is a dead chicken, but it can still act as though it is still alive. So is the old man.

Rom. 6:11
Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Bible says that the new man must "behold" his reality in Christ (2Cor. 5:17). That is why Peter admonished us to desire the Word as a milk for our growth (1Pet. 2:1-3).

See this,
2Cor. 3:18
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

In James 1:21-25, the mirror is the Word of God. So as we see who we are in God's Word, we are gradually transformed into His image. And transformation is in process, it takes time. A new man does not just change all of a sudden into a matured man in Christ, it takes time, persistence and diligence to grow.

This is your identity, you're a new creation! And your past sins are all forgiven and the record has been cleared forever! Walk in this consciousness and grow!

OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST II: NEW CREATION REALITIES

1/2

2Cor. 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

A lot of people know how to quote the above text, but only a few people understand what that really means.

First of all, it started with the word, "therefore" which is a conjunction that joins a previous clause to what is now being said. It introduces the consequence of aย cause; referring to something previously stated.

So what was previously stated?

2Cor. 5:14-15
14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died;
15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.

When Christ died, we died with Him. And when He rose up, we rose up with Him. So the life we have, is the life of Christ.
I come again, when He rose up, we rose up with Him; but with a new life. So for this cause, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Meaning he is like someone who never had a past, like a mother who delivered of a baby. A baby born today never had a yesterday.

That's why the next verse after verse 15 says that we should no longer regard anyone according to the flesh. That is, don't judge anyone in Christ based on who he was before he met Christ (2Cor. 5:16). He is a different and new person; no longer the person of the past. Anyone in Christ cannot be judged by their past; he is a new creation.

Let me say this, the Bible says, "As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins." (Eph. 2:1). First anyone we see before he meets Christ is a man dead in sin. Meaning whatever he does in the flesh is all a nature of his dead self (his spirit). But the moment he meets with Jesus, he (his spirit) received the life of God. Now that is why it is by grace, because a dead man cannot save himself.
