God Used Elijah To Restore The Widow's Son
Text: 1Kings 17 : 17 - 23

This is a widow of Zarepheth, who fed Elijah as requested out of the little she had that she and her son would eat before they die during the famine. The zarephath woman saw the man of God and believed. There is a level that you will walk with God that when you call on Him, He will answer.

In everything you do in life, there will be temptations. When God says He will bless you, hold on to it but don't be carried away and neglect the fact that there are enemies working tooth and nail to oppose the blessings on the way.
There will be a point in your life that only the God-factor can save you and if you're not in good terms with Him, what confidence would you have to approach Him? The Zarepheth widow had the confidence to approach the man of God when the situation was critical because she had given out to him when he was in need. If she hadn't given a helping hand to him, what face would she have to go to him when her son died? She also believed in the God of Elijah, that was why she took the step of faith to go and meet him.

Our ability to know that God is the owner of the universe despite the happenings, will help our situation. People make it seem as if the Corona virus pandemic, is only contracted in the church, forgetting that it is in the same church that prayers are being offered for the betterment of the society and everyone. Everything people trusted in have failed them...Nothing takes God unawares. Nobody knows what is happening, no human being can say exactly what the problem is cause the more you look at this situation, the more you see the mysteries... God is aware!

This woman, the widow of zarepheth operated in that mystery. She saw the man of God and he said to her, give me food let me eat, after that you and your son would eat the remaining and she worked and tapped into the faith of the God of the man of God. And, who knows, that death that she was expecting for her and her son, the death still came to take her son. But because she held on to the God of Elijah, the God of Elijah kept her alive and kept her son alive for many more years. Don't give up, hold on to God like this widow did.

In times like this, do all you need to do humanly possible to stay safe and HOLD ON TO GOD. In the midst of the fear and panic in the world, who/what is your confidence? God should be your only hope cause money will fail you, knowledge will fail you, everything will fail you but GOD NEVER FAILS and He alone can save you and yours!

Virtuous Woman
Text: Proverbs 31: 1 - 31, 2 Kings 4: 1 - 2

This is a time to know the people who love God or not. And also the time to affirm that there is God, and He reigns supreme. The incident of COVID-19 clearly shows that God rules over the universe.

We celebrate mothers today for who they are. They are the neck that holds the head. They are special. A mother does not abandon her children like the woman we read in 2Kings. Mothers are the weak but strongest links.

A mother is a true picture of feminism. Pure/true feminism teaches that a woman should not lay back, but should rather be active and not be waited upon. As a mother, stand in the gap, do what is needed to be done, don't wait for the man. Don't watch and complain and nag. Mothers are great beings and good testimonials. Don't be discouraged, keep pushing, keep working and with the help of God, you will be celebrated. Happy Mother's Day!!!

Covenant Keeping God
Text: Genesis 18:10 - 16, Jeremiah 33: 19 -20

There is a level you walk with God that God shows you things and tells you His intentions. Abraham did not leave God but followed Him. God does not just bless anybody, you must pass through tests to come out refined.

As long as we are on earth, temptations will come but do not allow it to define you. Abraham made the first mistake of taking Sarah's maid, Haggai, and learnt from it. Abraham had built a solid relationship with God that God told him He wanted to destroy S***m and Gomorrah.

Do not allow any human being to define you but keep focus on God for He is God. Be yourself and hold on to God irrespective of whatever that is going on in your life. He will surely fulfil the promise He made to you. If you want to serve God, serve Him like Abraham. In the face of his many situations, he did not accuse or abuse God.

God coming down to go to S***m and Gomorrah to see things for Himself is needed for the sake of Abraham. It did not mean that He didn't know of the atrocities that went on in that land. He came down for the promise He made to Abraham "by this time next season...."
Don't be among those that attack God. Everything that is happening in the world today, be it Corona virus, natural disasters, wars and climatic changes, are with His knowledge and approval, to achieve a purpose. These things happen when God allow people to live their life for a long time without recourse to Him.

What is that thing that is happening in your life, and made it to seem that there is no God, hold on to God. God has a way around it. It is not what people say or want but rather what God says or wants. When you are walking with God, it seems as if He is too slow. Not like that. He is a perfect planner. When people are doing evil to you, know that God is watching.

Don't ever allow whatever test you are passing through to make you say what you are not supposed to say - do not abuse God or question Him. Don't ever regret serving God; hold on to Him and remain focused. He knows what He is doing. Our God is a covenant keeping God. In Jeremiah 33: 19 - 20, He gave the conditions that must prevail for Him to break His covenant with David not to have a son. He is a God that fulfils promises and keeps His covenant. If David did not pass through all those tests, he would not be celebrated today. If you don't pass through things and tests, you will not have testimony. People need to see you pass through tests for your testimony to be loud and clear.

Let people laugh and mock you. Let them make caricature of you, and conclude that God has forsaken you. Let people say that you are nobody. You may not know that God is taking note. In spite of all that David passed through, God gave him the biggest crown. And here, what God is telling us is that as long as the covenant between night and day subsist, so will His promise for us stand.

Nabal's Foolery And Abigail's Wisdom
Text: 1 Samuel 25: 9 - 25

Nabal was Abigail's husband. He was a stupendously rich man but did not have common sense. David's men went to Nabal to make a harmless request which ordinarily he would have willingly obliged them but rather chose to treat them with disdain. Nabal could have politely rejected the request made by David's men without resorting to abusing and degrading them.

How do you respond to situations? Are you the type that cannot manage situations but will rather say it as it is without discretion. Are you in control of your temperament or do you allow your emotion to dictate your actions. Learn to live in peace with men. You do not need to abuse somebody to make a point.
When David received feedback of the insult from Nabal, he equipped 400 of his men to attack Nabal. Don't be quick to call everyone you see in the street a Nobody. You do not know who the person is, and that is why many people have fallen victim of public disgrace and brutalization. Don't go and fight anyhow. Be a person of few words. You do not know the identity of the person you are running mouth against.

Nabal attracted the wrath of David by his abuse if not for Abigail's intervention. Abigail was a very dutiful and wise woman. She knew that Nabal, her husband was a foolish man. She quickly organized relief materials which she personally delivered to David and his men as appeasement for Nabal's foolishness.

You do not need to apportion blames when there is a problem but rather work to find solution to the problem. That was exactly what Abigail did. She knew that her husband, Nabal, had created a problem that will consume her and family, and so moved fast to solve the problem before it goes full blown. Attend to a situation when there is need for it, and don't wish it away because it was not caused by you. Note also that Abigail did not tell her husband, Nabal, about her proposed move of appeasing David and his men because time was of essence, and Nabal could possibly read another meaning into her move.

Be like Abigail. Be wise and do something to ameliorate a wrong situation. Have a good relationship with God and men. Be responsible and stand for the right things. A times, bring your level low to learn from people under you; do as if you are a fool. Take immediate action when there is need for it. Abigail did and it saved Nabal from the calamity of destruction that would have befallen his family from David and his men.
