When will this prayer made by Jesus during his valedictory service with the Disciples be answered? Jesus prayed this same prayer 4 times in this same chapter of the bible in one night. It wasn't for want of what to pray for, neither is it a vain repetition.
Jesus knew how important our oneness is to the work He has given us to do. However, it is as if the importance of unity have been lost on the Church of today. The Apostles were able to go as far as they did, command respect of authorities and subdue Institutions, because they "were together in one accord".
If Jesus will repeat the same request 4 times during one prayer session, we must not take that lightly. We have been complaining about the lack of the manifestations of the Spirit of God like in the past, even social media warriors have not given us a break, asking us to show them our God. But we have forgotten that the anointing only flow where there is unity Psalm 133:1-3.
As I type this, the works of Leonard Ravenhill, Zachariah Tanee Fomum, Jeremiah Lamphia, William Seymour and several others makes me feel ashamed of my self and my generation.
What happen? Why is everyone hiding as if we are in the days of the midianites when Israel had to thresh her wheat in the wine press to hide it from her spoiler. Why is there no rallying voice at the centre calling for prayer action? Why are we not speaking with one voice in this season?
It is clear from what's going on that many Pastors today fear COVID-19 more than they fear God. For those still in doubt, the stage has been set, the party has started whether we chose to participate or not we will be graded.
For how long will the Church remain a pawn in the humanistic rulers of the world's game of chess? For how long are we going to bury our head in the sand like the ostrich?
Yes may be we are praying in our individual Assemblies, which I actually believe many are not doing. And the majority of those who are doing are just praying for their congregations alone. Selfishness will not help us at this time.
I read a piece from one of the spiritual fathers in Nigeria today where he said, "if every Church in Nigeria resume, MY Church will not resume." And when did Christ started giving out his Church to people. This is why the enemy will continue to mock us.
They close our place of worship, they ban our coming together and then go to social media to ask us to cure COVID-19 patients. Yes we are able because God has given us the power, the enemies who are manipulating the systems know what we are capable of. But then it is as if we are not sure of ourselves and the power we carry.
The devil will rather fill the isolation centres will sick people, many of who may be wrongfully diagnosed than allow the Church to open, because he is afraid we will serve the Children's bread (Healing) in super abundance and his corona business will pack up in a moment.
If not for worship sake, at least to provide healing for those who have the faith in God, that's enough reason for true sons of God should advocate for the reopening of the Churches.
Why is it so hard for us to realise that the Church is becoming the primary target of this 'bio-terror attack" as an author recently referred to it in an article I read some where on the internet.
When are we going to allow Jesus's prayer to be answered. It is time to act like the early Church where every crisis always make them stronger and more effective.
It is time the Church find a common ground and speak with one voice using the same language, otherwise we will not be able to pass the legacy of vibrant Church to our Children.
