We had a powerful reminder that Jesus had to die, so we could truly live during CRC Grand Finale.
Rev’d Femi Olaleye taught on “Why Jesus Christ Had to Die”
We began by opening Isaiah 53:1-8 and Psalms 89:13-14, laying the foundation that you can never truly understand the love and mercy of God without first understanding His justice. God is righteous, and His judgments are His way of restoring order where there has been chaos.
As the teaching progressed, we saw that sin carries a consequence; death (Romans 3:23). Not just as punishment, but as divine justice, because sin represents what God does not desire in His creation.
The focus then shifted to Christ; how the full weight of judgment was placed on Jesus (1 Peter 2:23-24, Mark 15). The death meant for man was satisfied in Him. Even in the face of mockery and rejection, He bore it all.
The climax was clear—God remains just, yet now justifies the one who believes. The new birth is the great exchange: the life of sin given up for the very life of God.
