20/05/2025

In a small rural town, Mama Grace was known by everyone—not because of wealth or charisma, but because of a quiet strength and unshakable peace. She didn’t preach sermons or lead revivals, but her life spoke volumes. Whenever something happened in the community—sickness, confusion, tragedy—people naturally sought her out.

One day, a young believer named Sade asked, “Mama, how do you always have this peace? You don’t panic. You don’t complain. What’s your secret?”

Mama Grace smiled warmly. “Child, I listen when God speaks, and I do what He says. I’ve learned—after many years—that His way is always better than mine. Even when it’s hard, His way brings peace. Every time I disobeyed, I paid a price. But every time I obeyed, I saw His faithfulness.”

That simple answer stayed with Sade. Years later, when she faced a crossroad, it was Mama Grace’s words that echoed in her heart: Listen and obey.

Mama Grace’s story is not just about wisdom—it's about obedience. The kind of obedience that comes from knowing God and trusting His ways, even when they don’t make immediate sense. And this is exactly what God has been calling His people to for generations.

We often think that disobedience leads to punishment—but it also leads to missed opportunities. Missed peace. Missed provision. Missed direction. God doesn’t command us for control; He leads us out of love.

God’s cry in Scripture is clear: He desires relationship, not just rituals. He wants a people who don’t just call Him Lord but also walk in His ways. He yearns for hearts that listen—just like Mama Grace did. His commands are not burdens; they are doorways to peace and blessing.

God's voice in Scripture is not just instructional—it’s emotional. He pleads with His people to listen and obey because He knows the cost of disobedience. His commands aren’t about control; they’re about covenant. When we choose His ways, we choose peace. When we resist, we settle for far less than He intended. Today, He still says, “Oh that my people had hearkened unto me...” Let’s be the generation that listens.

Talking about the heart cry of God for His peoplee, these are some action steps we could follow:
1. Reflect: Where have you heard God speak—but ignored or delayed your response?
2. Repent: Confess areas of disobedience and invite God to restore your path.
3. Recommit: Obedience is daily. Choose again today to walk in His ways.
4. Reach Out: Share this message with someone struggling to trust God's direction.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to hear Your voice clearly and follow without hesitation. Forgive me for the times I chose my own way. I want to walk in Your will—not just for the blessing, but because I love You. Teach me the joy and peace that come from listening and obeying. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Topic: Preaching through Signs, Wonders and the Power of the Holy Spirit

Scripture:
“And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.”
“And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.”
— Acts 9:34-35 (KJV)

Reflection:
The power of the Holy Spirit is unmatched. In a world where human efforts and strategies often dominate the church’s mission, we must remember that it is the Spirit that convicts, heals, and draws people to Christ. The work of God is not limited to what we can do in our own strength. It is through the supernatural intervention of the Holy Spirit that lives are transformed.

In Acts 9, we see the Apostle Peter healing Aeneas through the power of Christ. With a simple command—“Arise, and make thy bed”—Aeneas is miraculously healed, and the result is astounding: an entire region of people turns to the Lord. This isn’t just a healing; it’s a divine sign that draws people to Jesus. The power of God through healing, miracles, and signs speaks volumes to those who have not yet come to faith.

In a society that often relies on programs, events, and performances to attract people to Christ, we must ask ourselves: Are we preaching with the power of the Holy Spirit, or are we relying on our own efforts? The story of Aeneas shows us that when the Holy Spirit is at work, He goes beyond human strategies such that people are drawn to Jesus through the undeniable evidence of His power.

Illustration:
In a bustling city like Lagos, a young pastor named Daniel was eager to see the gospel spread. He organized multiple evangelistic events, reaching out to the community, making sure everything from the music to the message was perfect. While his efforts were well-intentioned, something was missing. One evening, after months of planning, he felt God’s gentle nudge to step back and pray, asking for the Holy Spirit’s guidance.

The next week, he led a small prayer meeting with no hype, no heavy planning—just prayer and openness to the Spirit. During that meeting, a woman with chronic back pain, who had attended the meeting out of curiosity, was instantly healed. She stood up, shocked, and testified that the pain had vanished. This healing caught the attention of the neighborhood, and within weeks, many who had only heard about God now wanted to know the Savior personally.

It wasn’t Daniel’s effort or his strategies that changed hearts. Rather, it was the manifest power of the Holy Spirit. When God moves in power, hearts are undeniably transformed.

Conclusion:
God’s Kingdom operates not by human strength, but by the power of the Holy Spirit. Just as Peter’s words brought healing to Aeneas, the Holy Spirit still works today in signs and wonders to glorify God and draw people to Christ. We must not forget that while planning and preparation are important, it is the Spirit who convicts, heals, and saves. The Church must return to dependence on the Holy Spirit for the miracles and testimonies that demonstrate the reality of the Kingdom of God.

Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for the power of Your Holy Spirit, which works in and through us. Help us to rely on You fully—not just on our efforts, strategies, or good intentions. Let Your Spirit be at the center of all we do, that signs, wonders, and healings may draw others to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Action Steps:
1. Pause: Before engaging in ministry or outreach, ask: “Holy Spirit, what do You want to do today?”
2. Pray: Seek the Holy Spirit’s empowerment. Without His power, our efforts are empty.
3. Prepare: Study the Word of God to better understand His will and ways. Know that healing and miracles are part of His divine plan.
4. Proceed: Go forward, trusting that the Holy Spirit will work in ways beyond what we can imagine.

Topic: The Danger of Good Intentions Outside God’s Order

Scripture:
“For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.”
— 1 Chronicles 15:13 (KJV)

Reflection:
God is a God of order. In an age where intentions are often celebrated more than obedience, this verse reminds us that divine work must be done by divine instruction. King David learned this the hard way. His desire to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem was noble. It even involved worship, dancing, and celebration. Yet, someone died—Uzzah, a man who tried to "help" God by stabilizing the Ark.

Why? Because the Ark was never meant to be carried on a cart. God had commanded that only the Levites, sanctified and properly prepared, were to carry it. (See Numbers 4:15, 1 Chronicles 15:2). The result of ignoring that order—even with sincere motives—was judgment.

This speaks powerfully to our generation. From pulpit to pew, from student ministry to business dealings, we often prioritize efficiency, popularity, or emotions over God’s clear instructions. We mean well, but like Uzzah, we may be sincerely wrong. Good intentions cannot replace holy instructions.

Illustration:
A young worship leader in Lagos was passionate about ministry. She loved God, sang with fire, and led powerful services. But she hadn’t dealt with secret sins. She skipped mentorship, avoided accountability, and depended on her talent. One day, she collapsed while ministering on stage. Doctors said it was physical exhaustion, but she later confessed: “I was carrying the Ark with unclean hands.”

That experience didn’t end her; it realigned her. She took a break, sought counsel, repented, and returned—not just gifted, but sanctified. Now her ministry bears both anointing and approval.

Conclusion:
Obedience may seem old-fashioned, but in God’s Kingdom, it is the foundation of power, protection, and purpose. Uzzah’s death wasn’t because God is cruel—it was a holy reminder that God’s presence cannot be handled carelessly.

We must ask: Are we carrying the Ark our own way? Are we “doing ministry,” building careers, or making decisions that seem right, but ignore God’s order? Let us return to reverence. Before touching holy things, we must first be sanctified.

Prayer:
Lord, teach me to seek You according to Your order. Forgive me where I’ve acted in zeal but outside of obedience. Let me not only do what is right—but do it rightly. Sanctify me to carry Your presence without harm to myself or others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Action Steps:
Pause: Before your next big decision—ministry, marriage, business—ask: What is God’s way, not just my will?
Purge: Confess and turn from hidden sins. Don’t serve from a place of impurity.
Prepare: Study God’s Word. Learn His methods, not just His promises.
Proceed: Once sanctified, move forward with boldness. God backs those who obey.

Topic: Lessons from Success and Failure
Scripture:
“And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face? Israel hath sinned…” — Joshua 7:10–11a (KJV)

Reflection:
There are lessons hidden in both our victories and our defeats. Joshua 6 ends with a shout of triumph—Jericho’s walls fell flat, and Israel tasted supernatural success. But in the very next chapter, we find them crushed by a tiny enemy called Ai. What changed? God didn’t. The strategy hadn’t. But something inside the camp had shifted: sin, pride, and presumption had crept in.

Joshua's experience speaks deeply to the season we are in, especially for thousands of Nigerian students recently left devastated by their Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam results. After years of preparation, prayers, and high expectations, the outcomes exposed not just systemic flaws from JAMB, but internal assumptions—false confidence, academic shortcuts, and at times, an avoidance of self-discipline.

Just like Israel underestimated Ai, many underestimated the exam’s demands or leaned solely on “miracle centers” and neglect of genuine study. But God, in His mercy, often allows temporary failure to reveal eternal lessons.

When Joshua inquired of the Lord, God didn't offer sympathy first—He gave insight: “Get up, there’s sin in the camp.” God wasn’t punishing; He was purifying. The failure wasn’t final—it was instructional. In Joshua 8, Israel corrected their posture, addressed the hidden issues, and rose again to defeat Ai.

Illustration:
A young girl in Enugu had prepared fervently for JAMB. She attended vigils, fasted, and quoted Jeremiah 29:11 every day. But when the results came, she failed. Devastated, she felt betrayed by God. But in the quiet of her pain, she heard a whisper: “Excellence is not built on hope alone, but on diligence.” That summer, she realigned. No more cheating. No more cutting corners. She studied with integrity and balance. The next year, she passed—not just the exam, but the test of character.

Conclusion:
Success is not proof that all is well. Failure is not proof that God has abandoned you. Both are messengers—divine tools for transformation. Like Joshua, we must learn to pause and seek the root cause. When we fail, may we not wallow in shame but rise with insight. When we succeed, may we remain humble and obedient.

Every exam—academic or spiritual—is a chance to grow. Whether you are mourning a lost opportunity or celebrating a great win, ask the Holy Spirit: “Lord, what are You teaching me in this?”

Prayer:
Lord, teach me to embrace both failure and success as Your instruments. Where I have missed the mark, reveal it. Where I have succeeded, keep me humble. Let every loss lead to learning and every victory point me back to You. Amen.

Action Steps:
Examine: If you recently failed, ask God to reveal why. Was it lack of preparation, pride, or misplaced trust?
Correct: Don’t just cry—correct your course. Study with integrity. Seek mentorship.
Encourage: Reach out to someone discouraged by failure. Remind them that Ai is not the end—it’s a lesson.
Pray: Ask God for wisdom in your next steps, not just for success, but for sustained excellence.

Topic: When Help Leaves Its Comfort Zone
Scripture:
“Now as Peter went here and there among them all, he went down also to the saints who lived at Lydda.” — Acts 9:32 (AMPC)

Reflection:
Sometimes your breakthrough is waiting on someone else's obedience. Aeneas was a believer, a saint—but for eight long years, he was paralyzed and bedridden. He couldn’t move, but thank God, Peter did. The apostle left his familiar base in Jerusalem and began visiting the scattered saints. His obedience brought divine healing to a man who had been forgotten by movement but not by God.

This tells us something profound: divine help doesn’t always come from where you are—it comes from where God sends it. Peter could’ve stayed in the center of revival, but he allowed the Holy Spirit to lead him on a “pastoral pilgrimage.” One of those stops was Lydda, and one of those saints was Aeneas.

Aeneas didn’t send for Peter. Peter found him. May God cause your destiny helpers to locate you—even when you can’t reach out. May those called to your restoration leave their comfort zones to meet you where you are.

The healing of Aeneas became a revival trigger for Lydda and Sharon. His restoration became the reason others turned to the Lord. Your recovery isn’t just about you—it’s about everyone watching you. When God lifts you, many others will lift their eyes to Him.

Illustration:
A woman in Port Harcourt was bedridden after an accident. Doctors had done all they could, but her healing didn’t come from medicine. It came from a cousin she hadn’t seen in years who suddenly felt burdened to pray for her. That cousin traveled miles just to lay hands and declare, “Jesus makes you whole.” Days later, she got up and walked again. What changed? Someone moved in obedience.

Conclusion:
Your condition doesn’t cancel your identity. Aeneas was still a “saint,” even though he was bedfast. Never let your affliction define your faith. And never underestimate what can happen when someone is led to find you. Help is on the way—even if it has to cross towns to get to you.

Peter didn’t just come with sympathy; he came with power. The church needs both. May your helpers come with more than hugs—may they come with healing.

Prayer:
Father, thank You that I am never forgotten in Your kingdom. Send my destiny helpers—those who will leave comfort for compassion. Give me the grace to believe even when I’m paralyzed, and the faith to rise when You call. Let my healing bring salvation to many. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Action Steps:

Believe Again: Even if you’ve been in one condition for years, God can still change your story in a moment.
Pray for Movement: Ask God to stir the hearts of those assigned to your journey.
Be Someone’s Peter: Who do you need to visit or encourage today? Don’t wait to be invited—go in obedience.

Topic: Destiny Helpers
Scripture: “But Barnabas took him to the Apostles and gave them an account of how he had seen the Lord on the road, and had given hearing to his words, and how at Damascus he had been preaching in the name of Jesus without fear.” — Acts 9:27 (BBE)

Reflection:
Sometimes, having the call is not enough—there must also be connection. Saul of Tarsus had seen the Lord, received divine instruction, and had already begun to preach. Yet when he arrived in Jerusalem, the very ones he needed to walk with—the Apostles—couldn’t receive him. Why? His past clouded their judgment. His story was true, but he had no voice among them. Until Barnabas.

Barnabas was more than just a friend—he was a destiny helper. He had access, credibility, and compassion. He took a risk on Saul and used his own influence to open doors for him. Without Barnabas, Saul’s ministry may have been delayed or derailed.

This is how God works—He assigns people to help you step into your calling. You may have the fire, the vision, the passion—but sometimes, you need someone else’s voice to validate your transformation. That’s not weakness—it’s divine strategy.

Illustration:
A young woman had a burden to start a Christian school in her city. She had the training, the plan, and the heart—but no funding, and no platform. For years, doors remained closed. One day, while volunteering at a church seminar, she served tea to a guest speaker who was deeply moved by her humility. After a short conversation, he connected her to a Christian foundation. Today, her school educates over 500 students.

She had the calling—but she needed a Barnabas.

Conclusion:
Your destiny may be divine, but your journey will require human vessels. God often uses people—helpers, mentors, encouragers—to unlock opportunities you cannot open on your own. Don’t despise connections. And don’t isolate yourself in pride. Even Paul needed Barnabas.

And one day, God may call you to be a Barnabas for someone else. Will you step up?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for divine helpers. I ask that You send people into my life who will believe in what You’ve put inside me. Connect me with those who will affirm, support, and open doors in alignment with Your will. And make me a helper to someone else on their journey. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Action Steps:
Pray intentionally for God to send you destiny helpers this season.
Review your current relationships—are there “Barnabases” you’ve overlooked?

Topic: Trust in the Family of Faith
Scripture: “And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.” — Acts 9:26 (KJV)

Reflection:
Trust is the currency of every meaningful relationship—especially among believers. When Saul (later Paul) tried to join the disciples in Jerusalem, they hesitated. And understandably so! He had a reputation as a persecutor, not a preacher. But their fear reminds us of a painful reality in the Body of Christ: broken trust can block unity.

Yet in this same story lies a powerful message: trust can be built, even when it’s initially absent. Eventually, Barnabas stepped in as a bridge, testifying to Saul’s transformation. That's what we need in the church today—Barnabases. People who will vouch, believe, and foster trust among brethren.

When trust thrives, fellowship deepens. In safe relationships, believers can confess struggles, share burdens, and seek counsel. Prayer becomes more potent, and partnership becomes possible. But without trust, isolation creeps in, and vulnerability fades.

Still, we must be discerning. Scripture warns about false brethren (Galatians 2:4). Trust must be anchored in discernment, not just emotion. Test the spirit, examine fruit, and listen to the Holy Spirit. True trust isn’t blind—it’s built.

Illustration:
In a small church in Lagos, a sister battling depression confided in a fellow churchgoer. She believed he was trustworthy. He prayed with her—but later shared her struggles as gossip. She withdrew from fellowship for months.

Contrast that with another story—a young man addicted to po*******hy opened up to a mature brother in his men’s group. That brother didn’t just listen; he fasted, prayed, and walked with him until he was delivered. Today, that young man runs a men’s accountability group.

Both stories show the power of trust—and the pain of betrayal. Trust can heal or harm, depending on how it’s handled.

Conclusion:
The early church grew not just by power, but by partnership. And partnership is impossible without trust. Build it. Guard it. Don’t weaponize someone’s weakness. When believers walk in love, accountability, and truth, the church becomes not just a place of worship—but a place of refuge.

But don’t forget: not everyone has pure motives. Be led by the Spirit. Trust wisely, love freely, and walk in the light of discernment.

Prayer:
Father, teach me to trust wisely and love deeply. Help me be a safe space for my brethren—a vessel of compassion, not condemnation. Guard my heart from false brethren, and give me wisdom to discern. Let my relationships in Christ be marked by truth, healing, and unity. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Action Steps:

Reflect: Are there brethren you've held at a distance due to fear or past hurts? Ask God to help you rebuild trust.
Guard: Before sharing sensitive matters, pray for discernment. Not every listener is a keeper.
Build: Be a trustworthy friend to someone today. Listen, pray, and support without judgment.

Topic: Talk Your Way Into Success
Scripture: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” — Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)

Reflection:
Your words are not just expressions—they are instruments of creation. In the Kingdom, what you say shapes what you see. God framed the universe with His word, and as His image-bearers, we too possess that creative power. The difference between failure and success often lies in what we consistently confess.

Many people unknowingly speak themselves out of victory by aligning their words with fear, doubt, and defeat. But when you begin to talk in agreement with God’s promises, you align your environment with divine possibility. Joshua was instructed to meditate on God’s Word day and night and not let it depart from his mouth—that was the key to his good success (Joshua 1:8).

Success doesn’t begin in your bank account, your résumé, or your reputation—it begins in your mouth. Speak life. Declare breakthrough. Prophesy progress. When your words echo God's promises you meditate on daily, then your life starts to reflect good success from doing God's Word.

Illustration:
Cosmas Maduka, founder of Coscharis Group, began his journey as an underage apprentice and now leads a conglomerate with interests in automotive, agriculture, and technology. He attributes his success to his Christian values, emphasizing commitment, humility, precision, and hard work. Maduka's story illustrates how faith confession and dedication can lead to significant achievements in business.

Conclusion:
If you are in a season where nothing seems to work—business deals falls through, relationships are strained, and discouragement hovers over you. Then ask yourself if you have been repeating what you see instead of declaring what God said. It is time to change your confession, even before anything changes around you. Begin to speak favor, wisdom, and increase. Slowly but surely, doors will open, the right productive partnerships will be formed, and you will step into enviable levels of life accomplishments. It's time to talk your way into the success God has already approved for you.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for the power You’ve placed in my tongue. Help me to speak words that build, not break; words that align with Your truth, not my fear. I declare success, not because of who I am, but because of what You’ve spoken over me. Let my words reflect Your will and draw me into my divine destiny. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Action Steps:
Identify and replace every negative confession with a promise from God’s Word.
Speak success, even when you don’t yet see it—faith declares before it manifests.
Write a daily declaration of victory and speak it aloud every morning.
