Hearing the voice of God. PT 3

3. Inner witness of the Holy Spirit:
In no particular order, the number three way one can hear the voice of God is through the inner witness of the Holy Spirit.

First, Who is the Holy Spirit and how does He witness in our lives?

The Holy Spirit: A Divine Person

Scripture reveals the Holy Spirit as a divine person, distinct yet inseparable from God the Father and God the Son (Jesus Christ), not just a force or energy. He is described as having thoughts (1 Corinthians 2:10-11), feelings (Ephesians 4:30), and will (1 Corinthians 12:11).

The Holy Spirit possesses divine attributes, such as:
*Omniscience (1 Corinthians 2:10-11)
*Omnipresence (Psalm 139:7-10)
*Omnipotence (Luke 1:35)

The Holy Spirit is distinct from the Father and the Son, yet inseparable in the Godhead (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).

Therefore, we can now say, the Holy Spirit is a divine person, fully God, and an integral part of the Trinity.

For us to discern the inner witness of the Holy Spirit and experience His guidance in our lives, we must first and foremost know Him personally and identify with Him. This relationship is rooted in salvation through Jesus Christ, whose blood cleanses us from sin, allowing the Holy Spirit to dwell within us. Without the cleansing power of Christ's blood, the Holy Spirit cannot reside in us.

The inner witness of the Holy Spirit:

This attribute of the Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in helping us discern and hear God's voice. However, here are some ways the Holy Spirit guides us through inner witnesses.........

Unforgiveness erodes your Peace:

I have come to realise that the word, "unforgiveness" can indeed weigh heavily on our minds and hearts, draining our peace and energy. Holding onto grudges and resentment can create emotional turmoil.

Personal experience: a few weeks ago, I met a young woman in our office, standing at the main entrance door. Someone was talking to me, and unknowingly, she burst in, forcefully opening the door like she was in a quarrel with someone.

She looked at me and said, 'Can't you greet?' I was surprised by her tone. We'd never had issues before, yet she acted rudely. I stood speechless for about one minute, then left without responding.

Later that day, a senior colleague called me regarding the incident. I asked, "What incident?" He said a lady had reported herself for offending me and wanted to apologize. To cut the long story short, after I explained what happened, he pleaded with me to forgive her, which I did.

The issue now is that anytime she sees me, she's uncomfortable. I've forgiven her, but she hasn't forgiven herself.

There is a connection between forgiving and receiving forgiveness. We cannot receive God’s mercy ourselves and then show no mercy to others.

Jesus says that our forgiveness of others is essential to receiving forgiveness from God. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God’s part’.

Received the grace to forgive others when they offend you in Jesus' Name. Amen!
