We were so blessed by Minister Victor Akande's teaching on Double Standard Living.
Topic: Double Standard Living
Bible Text: Proverbs 20:10, Luke 20:46-47
• Double Standard Living means holding others to different standards than you hold yourself.
• A Christian who lives by double standards is one who preaches and acts Godly but also acts otherwise.
In the church they are doves, outside they are vipers. James 1:8
• You can not live double standard life and expect things to go in your way.
• Don't mistake double standards for high standards. Some people change standards based on who is before them.
• When we codenm people for (big) sin and excuse ourselves of other (small) sins, it is an act of double standard.
• We must learn to apply the same standards to ourselves and others.
Dangers of Double Standards
- Feeling superior which leads to unfulfillment.
Luke 18:10-14
- Excusing yourself saying, 'God will understand'.
- Condemning people.
- Loss of Hope.
- Taking God's Mercy for granted.
- Spiritual Death: Hosea 4:17
• If you are living a life of double Standard, make amends.
“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him” – Colossians 3:17
• We must pursue a single and transparent life with Christ.
