WHY YOU DON'T HAVE!
READ PROVERBS 11:24-25
MEMORISE: Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. (Luke 6:38)
Complaints and alibi have been the generic nature of man. You would recollect that Adam capitalized on Eve as excuse for his failure. Eve wanted herself also exonerated because of the serpent! (Gen 3:4-6). In the Church today, people are fond of complaining on this and that... Excuses fill up everywhere, and failure always beckons! The chief of our complaints/excuses is "I don't have!" when it comes to giving our money, materials and even the intangibles like wisdom, intellect and talents! Ask people to bring offering. The next you hear is: "I don't have, therefore I can't give!"
The question is: "Who has and who does not?" There is hardly anyone who does not have something. How? If we look around and inward, you will discover your possessions are almost like you have nothing, but at the same time, they are still something you can boast of to have (Prov. 3:9)
Simple fact: People don't have because they don't give, although they think and claim that they don't give because they don't have! If you want to have, then give (Luke 6:38), because It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35).
No amount of prayer/fasting will make you have if you fail to give. This natural law cannot be broken. That thing you think you don't have is in and with you if you can release it for God and human use. You don't have because you don't give. Change the mentality of not being able to give because you think you don't have. Start giving today then you will stop lacking and start receiving (Eccl 11:1).
PRAYER POINTS
1. O God, I receive the grace to be diligent in giving.
2. You attitude of stinginess and self-centredness, out of me, in Jesus' name.
3. Lord, let Your Church, both the leaders and members to be more sacrificial in their lives, worship and ministries/services.

WATCH YOUR INFLUENCE
READ JOHN 21:1-18
MEMORISE: "I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said, "We'll go with you." So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. (John 21:3)
Some people do not recognise that everyone has influence in one way or the other that later turn to issues with global effect. For instance, the mother of a-year-old baby smiles so that her child can smile. She, at times, frowns at the child to show her disapproval of something. Whatever the child learns from this tender age, remains part of him/her for life - power of influence.
As a Christian, you are expected to positively influence your world. Christ's virtues which were imputed on us at salvation are to change our world (Matt 5:13). For example, God expects Christians to rise against giving or collecting bribes of any form because of its dire consequences (Job 15:34). When your influence breathes relief, peace, comfort, and strict compliance to biblical principles, even in difficult and trying times, God cannot leave you on your own (Dan 3:22-29).
Please, beware of Peter's mistake. Being the natural leader of the disciples, with his concluded determination to abandon the work of the ministry for fishing, his earlier occupation, he influenced the disciples negatively, such that they followed him! Watch what you say, eat, where you go, or things you do. You are an influencer, whether in positive or negative way. You don't know who is watching.
As you embark on today's journey, ensure you leave an indelible positive influence on the sand of time, God helping you.
PRAYER POINTS
1. O Lord, I will never be a bad influence in my generation, as much as You help me.
2. Lord, help me to avoid all bad influences on my attitude and actions.
3. Ask God to dissociate all bad influences around our political and church leaders from them.

FISHERS OF MEN
READ MATTHEW 4:18-22
MEMORISE: And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" (Rom 10:15)
Jesus Christ is looking for those who will be fishers of men for Him in this world of sin and darkness. Fishing is a profession of those in riverine/coastal areas; their main stay. Some of the methods of fishing are good for soul winning. There are those, especially children and young adults, who fish with single-line hook. This is liken to one-on-one evangelism. This is an effective way of soul-winning (cf. Matt 10:1ff). Others involve the use of nets, hooks on lines, parking of water during the dry season and, on a large scale, use of boats, ships and troublers on the high seas.
A fisherman must be patient, have the ability to endure and must be able to swim very well on long distance because of sea waves and ocean current. Jesus Christ knew that a fisherman can endure the hardship on mission field of soul-winning.
Soul-winning is much more lucrative than fishing. Soul-winning is the business of every Christian, and not a prerogative of the clergy or missionaries. If you are not involved in soul-winning, you are unproductive Christian. It is interesting to work for God.
In John 21:15-17, Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved Him more than the mundane things. His response was in the affirmative. The same question comes to you as you study God's Word this day. Be not fisher for the sake of your belly. Be not fisher for your own fame, honour and wealth. Be not fisher for your pockets. All these endanger the gospel of Christ. As you go about your business today, tell someone that Jesus saves and loves him/her.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, give me the boldness to witness You everywhere, any time.
2. Lord, assist missionaries to overcome the difficulties on the mission field.
3. Lord, help Christians to tell about Jesus to their friends at work.

THE RAPTURE What does the Scripture say concerning the rapture of the ready saints?
1 Thess. 4:16-18:
“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.”
1 Thess. 5:1-11:
“But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.
But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night.

ENLISTED FOR MERCY
Read Romans 9:1-16
MEMORISE: For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." (Romans 9:15).
Mercy and compassion are two operational words in the above text. Mercy is compassion, kindness or forgiveness shown especially to somebody a person has power over. Mercy is expressed when one is blessed, whereas, compassion is sympathy for the suffering of others, which often includes the desire to help.
Mercy is one of the sovereign attitudes of God. Better still, it is the makeup of God. Mercy and compassion are functions of God's grace and love. The grace of God qualifies one for God's mercy. God's grace is demonstrated fully alone in Jesus Christ. No more, no less. That is exactly what the Bible is expressing in the text.
Variables like colour, race, height, status, age and location are not strong determinants of whether someone would receive mercy or not. Nothing was yet known of Esau and Jacob when God revealed His preference for the younger Jacob. This is a function of mercy.
Candidates of mercy are God's people whom He has predestined to be His, and whom have chosen Him as their Lord and King. Are you one of them, washed in the blood of the Lamb? Anyone who refuses the love of God through faith in Jesus Christ has not only delisted himself from receiving mercy, but equally invites condemnation on Himself.
Finally, if you have found God's mercy, be merciful to others (Matt 5:7).
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord Jesus, have mercy on me; show me mercy so that my life will not remain the same again.
2. Merciful Lord, help me to show mercy to people around me.
3. Lord, let the Church be more merciful and compassionate towards the less privileged.

VICTORY AT LAST
READ 2 SAMUEL 5:1-10
MEMORISE: When all the elders of Israel had come to King David at Hebron, the king made a compact with them at Hebron before the Lord, and they anointed David king over Israel. (2 Sam 5:3)
There are many lessons for us from the life of King David. How God dealt with him, his sins and forgiveness all serve as lessons for us.
In the above passage, David at last arrived at the palace to reign and rule over all the tribes of Israel. Major authorities of the Bible accept that he was between sixteen and seventeen years of age when he was first anointed King to replace King Saul. Between the anointing and his coronation at age thirty, God needed to take him through the 'university of adversity', not to crush him but to strengthen him and brush him up for the coming assignments.
On the eve of Saul's death, David lost everything he ever possessed in Ziklag, to some marauders. But by the next day, he became king over Judah and later over all Israel, despite the antics of King Saul. Before his ascension to the throne, imagine how he had demonstrated acts of forgiveness and humility to Saul and had practically cared for his followers. God in heaven was watching. What are you passing through today? Stop fretting. Relax and see how God will take you successfully through the wilderness of life. You will get to where He has planned for you, whether the enemy like it or not. It shall be victory at last (Amen).
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, demonstrate in my life that You turn mourning into dancing by Your unquestionable power.
2. I take authority over every challenge I am going through and I'll go through, in Jesus' name. I will laugh last over them.
3. Let every challenge confronting the Church in the land be a walk over, in the name Jesus.

WATCH IT!
READ 1 SAMUEL 21:1-9
MEMORISE: David went to Nob, to Ahimelech the priest. Ahimelech trembled when he met him, and asked, "Why are you alone? Why is no one with you?" (1 Sam 21:1)
A man once wrote: "Keep one thing forever in view; the truth, and if you do this though it may seem to lead you away from the opinion of men, it will assuredly conduct you to the throne of God."
In his time of distress, David fled to the house of God. King Saul was actually pursuing him to take his life. He ran to the house of God for security and reinforcement. It is great comfort in the day of trouble to know that we have a God to whom we can run for divine intervention (cf. Psa 46:1-3; Heb 4:15,16).
In our text for today, David told a lie and it eventually led to the death of the priests of the LORD. David was known to be a man of great faith and courage, yet both failed him because he allowed fear and cowardice to set in. Had he trusted God aright, he would not have used such a sinful (selfish) strategy for his own preservation. He repented of this later (1 Sam 22:22). He told the lie in the presence of a traitor who later became a killed (1 Sam 21:1,7; 22:21). He also feigned madness (1 Sam 21:12-15). All these were done out of fear (v. 12). Couldn't God save him without these 'false appearance'? It is not written for our imitation but for our admonition. Let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
If we would but trust God aright, we don't need "white lies" or dishonouring devices for our preservation. If you tell the truth, you have the infinite power of God supporting you.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, help me to be strong in times of temptation.
2. Lord, help me to be vigilant enough against the cunning of the devil.
3. Pray for brethren going through terrible times of temptation, that they will be strong enough to stand for Him.
