Turn Your Trash into Treasure Through Praise
My little kids have a habit of writing notes on used grocery receipts they find in the car.
It’s always a variant of the same message: “I love my daddy.”
I kept every single one of those notes. They are no longer trash; they are treasures because of one thing:
What they chose to communicate to me through them.
God told the children of Israel, “You have not brought Me any sweet cane, nor the fat of your sacrifices.” Mind you, this was during a difficult time.
They had:
* no Davidic king ruling an independent Judah;
* no sovereign state;
* no functioning Solomon’s Temple;
* a devastated homeland;
* a substantial population living as exiles under a foreign imperial government.
Yet God was asking for His praise!
Praise is not just what you say; it is the very fabric of your relationship with Him. His demand for praise is His commitment to seeing you walk through the fire, through the water, and ensuring your seat with Him on His throne.
Praise is the lifeblood of the God-life. As a body without the spirit is dead, so also a covenant relationship with Christ without praise is asleep.
“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;”
Ephesians 5:18–20 KJV
Never permit setbacks ( trash ) to litter your life . Turn them into treasures ( praise) . Refuse to harbour bitterness in your heart. Communicate the person and the character of Christ to the world around you through them always .
Wake up every day and craft beautiful letters of love to your Lover, and watch your days begin to reflect His grace.
