Topic: *EXCELLENCE EXALTS*

*Bible Text* : Daniel 6:1-3
_1. It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps, to be over the whole kingdom; 2. and over these, three governors, of whom Daniel was one, that the satraps might give account to them, so that the king would suffer no loss. 3. Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm._ [NKJV]

· *Just a Charge* :
The story of Daniel and His exploits in Babylon is a very popular one among Christians and every user of the Bible. He was among the princes of Israel that were specially selected from among the captives to be trained as Palace workers. From been Palace worker, he grew to become only second to the powerful Babylonian King - politically and administratively. His growth or rise was both tested and phenomenal. He passed all his "promotional tests" in flying colours all the times.
What was the secret of Daniel's rise? No. 1: he had the Spirit of the Living God in him and lived in resolute obedience to the commandments of his God. That is primary. Yet, he had another great quality: an excellent spirit. He had great ability to carry out his assignments. He manifested great intelligence, wisdom and discretion in performing his duties. Whatever he laid his hands upon prospered. He excelled in all his works.
Mediocrity is the opposite of excellence. Whereas excellence in your work will lead to promotion and honour, mediocrity stalls and demotes! Exaltation is far from a mediocre worker. The Bible says, "Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will serve kings rather than ordinary people." [Proverbs 22:29]. Skillful, competent and diligent workers are always in high demand and are greatly admired. They always stand in the front roll for exaltation and honour. To put up mediocre performances in your work and yet expect promotion is nothing but self-deceit! Mediocrity is a harbinger of frustration! You have yourself, not another, to blame for any stagnation, demotion or disengagement mediocrity brings.
Desire and pray for and begin in earnest to develop excellent spirit in you from today. Pray that God should fill and equip you with this spirit of excellence, so you can excel in whatever your life’s endeavour might be. He did it for Mr. Bezaleel Uri – “See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: "See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, To devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship.” [Exodus 31:2-5]. He is willing to do it for you also.
Let "an excellent spirit" be found in you like it was found in Daniel and Bezaleel. Let this spirit be evidenced in your performances and fruitfulness from today. Then, and only then, could you justly expect due promotion; and even when unsolicited. May God help us all herein, in Jesus name.

To put up mediocre performances in your work and yet expect promotion is nothing but self-deceit! Mediocrity is a harbinger of frustration!

· *Today's scripture meditation* :
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (KJV)

· *Prayer Points* :
1. Give thanks unto the Lord for granting you His breath of life today.
2. Consider the goodness of God to you and your house this outgoing week. Give Him quality praise for all He has done.
3. Our God is good, perfect and excellent in all. Worship Him.
4. Today, consider your way. Could it be that you are experiencing stagnation or demotion in your work or business due to mediocrity? Today, censor yourself, and own up your fault before God. If you so decide, repent in humble prayer today.
5. First, do you have the Spirit of Christ in you? That only come after genuine conversion - that is, after becoming born again. If you are not born again, I urge you earnestly to give your life to Jesus today.
6. Now, as a child of God, pray for excellent spirit as was found in Daniel; even for its best form as was in Christ Jesus.
7. Pray that the grace of God will work with excellent spirit in you to cause you to excel maximally in all you do from today.
8. Daniel was distinguished by the excellent spirit in him. Pray that distinction and honour will be your portion too, in Jesus name.
9. Let us now handle individual prayer requests.
10. Finally, trust God for a very fulfilling day and blessed weekend.

Topic: *ANGER BLURS REASONING CAPACITY!*

*Bible Text* : Proverbs 14:17
_He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated._ [KJV]

· *Just a Charge* :
We all get angry at times. It is natural. However, uncontrolled fit of anger is capable of blurring the reasoning capacity of the angry person! This is one of the reasons why we just have to master our emotion of anger, so that our reasoning is not hindered from functioning rightly.
He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly, the Bible says. The passion of anger can hurry someone into foolish speeches and actions! The angry one has no time for reflection; he is hurried on by his passions, speaks like a fool, and acts like a madman! No wonder that anger is sometimes referred to as “temporary madness”! The angry person says and do that which is ridiculous, and so expose himself or herself to contempt; and he or she cannot but be ashamed of it when the heat is over and tempest subsided! Let us learn to master our emotion of anger, and keep firm hold of our reflective faculty whenever we are angry. Being able to do this is a good reflection of our self-mastery capacity and maturity as a person.

1 Thank God another day He has granted you in the land of the living.
2. Magnify the Lord of all grace.
3. Consider today’s charge. Do you often “get mad” in anger, so that you say or do things that you later regret? If so, you need God’s help urgently. Please acknowledge this before God today.
4. Pray to God for His help and grace to maintain your reasoning capacity under the emotion of anger from today.
5. Pray for the grace to be able to master your emotions generally from today.
6. Hand over your day unto God. Pray for divine protection over you and all yours from all the evils of the day.

Topic: *GOOD ADVICE COULD JUST BE THE MISSING LINK!*

*Bible Text* : Proverbs 20:18
_Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war._ [KJV]


· *Just a Charge* :
Sometimes, it could prove to be foolhardy to go out in pursuit of a purpose without being handy with sufficient good and appropriate advice on how best to go about fulfilling such purpose. For this reason, many otherwise lofty purposes have been frustrated, unfortunately! “Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.” [Proverbs 15:22].
Many at times, this could even be due to kind of self-deceiving and prideful “I know it all” spirit! When you believe that you know it all, you don’t value the idea of asking advice of anyone! This is folly! “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” [Proverbs 11:14]. This same reason is why many had lost out of many winnable battles of life! Hear this: “Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and CONSULTETH whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?” [Luke 14:31].
We can gain much and achieve better results in whatever our pursuit is with pieces of good advice from others who probably know better than us, either through learning or experience. Let us learn to take such advantage for our own good. Let us cast off pride and humble ourselves to acknowledge our limits; and to seek out counsels when need be. …… but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety, says God’s word to us all.

We can gain much, and achieve better results in whatever our pursuit is with pieces of good advice from others who probably know better than us, either through learning or experience.

· *Today's scripture meditation* :
Proverbs 11:14
Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety. (KJV)

· *Prayer Points* :
1. Lift up your voice to appreciate the Living God for keeping you alive today.
2. Worship the Spirit of the Lord. He is our great Counselor.
3. Consider yourself vis-a-vis today’s charge. Have you suffered avoidable losses in the pass because you did not seek appropriate counsel for whatever reason? If so, repent of that attitude today. Pray for divine restoration of whatever you have lost.
4. Today, pray that God will help you to know when you need counsel, and to lead you to the right counsel always.
5. Pray for a humble heart to always seek for other’s befitting and beneficial counsel whenever that is needful.
6. Pray that counsel of the Lord shall stand concerning you and your house today.

Topic: *WHAT MANNER OF LORD ARE YOU?*

*Bible Text* : 1 Peter 3:5-6
_5. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: 6. Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement._ [KJV]

· *Just a Charge* :
The Bible says, “……... the head of the woman is the man…” [1 Corinthians 11:3]. This is in tune with the natural order of creation. This is God’s order in marriage. The man is the head of the woman. The husband is the head of his own wife.
Another word to describe the position of the husband over his wife is “lord”. Sarah laid the benchmark for all “her daughters” by calling her husband, Abraham, “my lord” (Genesis 18:12). By so calling Abraham, she was showing him utmost reverence, thus acknowledging her subjection to him as her rightful head. It is a designation that shows respect and submission to one’s husband.
The husband, as the head or lord, occupies the positional authority as the rightful governor or ruler over his wife. But let every husband know that he holds but a delegated authority under his own Head – Jesus Christ. “…...the head of every man is Chris…” [1 Corinthians 11:3]. Every husband in authority will one day give account of his stewardship to the One who entrusted him with the right. This calls for responsible lordship from all husbands. Husband, what manner of lord are you? What kind of head are you? Could it be that you are rather a headache to your wife? Examine yourself today. God knows you. I trust you know yourself!

Every husband in authority will one day give account of his stewardship to the One who entrusted him with the right. This calls for responsible lordship from all husbands.

· *Today's scripture meditation* :
1 Peter 3:7
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. (KJV)

· *Prayer Points* :
1. Today is a new day alive. Give thanks to God for yourself and all yours.
2. Praise God, the Lord over all.
3. Thank God for His goodness to your house.
4. Are you a married man? If so, examine yourself in view of today’s charge? What manner of head are you to your wife? Are you rather a headache to her? If so, acknowledge your wrong now, and repent.
5. In particular pray that God will help you to provide responsible and godly headship to your wife and house from today.
6. Commit yourself and your family to God for a very peaceful day.

Topic: *HE SPEAKS NO CARELESS WORD!*

*Bible Text* : Psalms 12:6
_The Lord’s promise is sure. He speaks no careless word; all he says is purest truth, like silver seven times refined._ [AMP]

· *Just a Charge* :
Every single word of the Lord is pure, potent and true. He speaks no careless, useless or impotent word! “The words of the LORD are pure words…” [Proverbs 12:6, NKJV]. “Pure”; because it is all faithfulness and truth. The word of God – that is, whatever God says, is without the least mixture of falsehood; and therefore shall infallibly be fulfilled.
What a contrast between the vain words of man, and the pure words of Jehovah God! Man's words are “yea and nay”, but the Lord's word (promises) are “yea and amen”! For truth, certainty, holiness, faithfulness, the words of the Lord are pure as well refined silver.
What is the implication of this character of the word of God, and what should be our response to it? Primarily, we are being assured of the infallibility and sacrosanctity of God’s word. God’s word is unchangeable and is ever sure. Whatever God says, therefore, we should consider it done. We can confidently take God at His word. We should safely exercise absolute faith in the promises of God. We should trust in the power of His word to accomplish His purpose, whatever that may be. “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” [Isaiah 55:10-11].
May your faith in the word of God increase from today, in Jesus name. Amen!
Enjoy God’s faithfulness today, in Jesus name. Amen!

· *Think upon this* :
Whatever God says, therefore, we should consider it done. We can confidently take God at His word. We should safely exercise absolute faith in the promises of God.

· *Today's scripture meditation* :
2 Samuel 22:31
As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him. (KJV)

· *Prayer Points* :
1. It’s a brand new day, with brand new mercy of God. Thank God with a grateful heart.
2. God is faithful. Great is His faithfulness. His faithfulness endures from generation to generation. If He is your God indeed, worship Him.
3. If you are born again, you are born again “through the word of God which lives and abides forever” (1 Peter 1:23). Thank God for His truth that saved you.
4. What is your usual response to God’s word? If not trust in its efficacy, you are missing its fruit! Pray for faith to receive the word of God from today without iota of doubt.
5. Pray that whatever even the least of doubt about the efficacy of the word of God that is in your heart shall be removed today, in Jesus name.
6. If you have experienced the faithfulness and power of God’s word before, thank God for that. Pray that God’s word will find perfect fulfillment in your life, marriage, family, ministry, business, etc. from today.
7. Pray that God will manifest His goodness and faithfulness in your life and all that concerns you today.

*THE FAMILY ALTAR*

Topic: *THE SPIRIT OF LIE (2)*

*Bible Text* : John 8:44
_You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he was a liar and the father of lies._ [NIV]

· *Just a Charge* :
Lie lies in the nature of the fallen man. This is another important fact to know about lie. Lie is natural to Satan, and this is a prominent feature of the dose of his nature in all unregenerate humans. So, every liar lies by nature!
Lie exists in the nature of all sinners. When an unregenerate man lies, he is merely doing so in conformity with ordinary course of his nature. He doesn't struggle to lie; because lie is indigenous in him! Lie dwells in him. He lies naturally. It just manifests normally at every opportune time. When the manifestation because abnormal, excessive or extraordinary, we talk of such a person as being a pathological liar! Such a one become seemingly compelled to lie!
Are you a natural liar, or even a pathological one? One thing is clear: lie yet dwells in you! It is in your nature. To be free, you will need a nature-change; a real transformation in your inmost being! You need the nature of Truth. Jesus is the Truth (John 14:6). You need to come to Him for a new spirit and heart that is wired for truth (Ezekiel 36:25-27). His Spirit dwelling in you will help you to overcome lie altogether. Please come to Jesus today.

Romans 3:4
God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. (KJV)

· *Prayer Points* :
1. Thank God for the grace of life today. Thank Him for preserving you and all yours over the past night.
2. Magnify the Holy God. In Him is no iota of falsehood. He is the Truth.
3. Are you a liar by nature? Are you probably qualified to be tagged "a pathological liar"? Today, acknowledge your need of help/deliverance. Surrender your spirit to Jesus Christ through genuine repentance.
4. Are you truly born again but still find yourself struggling to master the spirit of lie? If so, cry to God for help today.
5. “Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds” [Colossians 3:9]. Pray for the grace to live and speak the truth at all times.
6. Hand over your day unto God. Pray for His protection over you and all yours all through the day.
