Please, pay very close attention now.

As revealed in yesterday's message, there are two things the Holy Spirit does to help you crucify your body to regenerate your spirit to become perfect - 100% in the image of God.

The first is that, He reveals to you the Word you are to obey, which will demand the crucifixion of your body before you can obey it (Gal.5:17); and you are to live your whole life by the Word. (Matt.4:4) This is the TRUTH that He came to guide believers into:

"Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH.." (John 16:13a)

As previously revealed, the crucifixion of the body through the denying of its desires is a very painful exercise which no man can endure as a lifestyle without God's help.

The second thing the Holy Spirit does is that He offers this help by giving you the enablement to endure this suffering as a lifestyle to crucify the body. The Holy Spirit is not only the Spirit of Truth, but also the Spirit of Grace. (Heb.10:29)

Holy Ghost revelation of the Word is therefore, REVELATION OF THE TRUTH TO OBEY, AND THE GRACE TO CRUCIFY THE BODY TO OBEY IT. These are the two things that Jesus' death on the Cross has made available to the believer through the Holy Spirit for him to obey God as a lifestyle to fulfil His purpose, and hence his destiny. It is what makes all the difference between him and the Old Testament saints who had the Word through the Laws and the Commandments, but could not obey it:

"For the law was given by Moses, but GRACE AND TRUTH CAME BY JESUS CHRIST." (John 1:17)

This was why God said concerning them:

"Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;" (Ezek.20:25)

The Commandments are good because they contain the life for living - EternalLife. (Rom.7:10; Matt.19:17c) But they were not profitable to them because they did not have the Holy Spirit to empower their access to the life in the Word, like the believer in the New Testament. (Rom.8:13b)

TRUTH and GRACE are the two sides of the KNIFE OF REVELATION OF THE WORD, through which the Holy Spirit circumcises the heart of the believer by the crucifixion of his body, to regenerate his spirit to become perfect.

The Word is Truth (John 17:17); it is also the Word of Grace. (Acts 20:32)

Yesterday's message ended with the question: How does Holy Ghost revelation of the Word achieve the crucifixion of the body to regenerate the corrupt spirit of the believer for it to become perfect?

Every revelation of the Word is for your compliance or obedience. (Josh.1:8) You are to live by the Word through your obedience to it. (Matt.4:4) That is how to fulfil the Will, desires and purposes of God.

But your body is not interested in obeying God's Word, but disobeying it to have its desires that are always contrary to God's desires. (Rom.8:7-8; Gal.5:17) For you to be able to obey every Word revealed to you by the Holy Spirit therefore, you must of necessity first subdue the desires of your body, thereby crucifying it:

11 "But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but IF YE THROUGH THE SPIRIT DO MORTIFY THE DEEDS OF THE BODY, YE SHALL LIVE." (Rom.8:11-13)

Some believers erroneously think that Verse 11 is talking about Christ's physical resurrection from the dead on the third day of crucifixion; but it is not. As revealed in the message of 2/4/23 through Rom.1:4, it was His resurrection as a result of putting His body to death as confirmed here:

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:" (1Pet.3:18)

Jesus died physically once on the Cross, as sacrifice to reconcile us back to God. But BEFORE GOING TO THE CROSS, HE WAS CONTINUALLY BEING PUT TO DEATH IN HIS BODY to manifest God's nature of perfection and holiness. That was what made Him a sacrifice without the blemish of sin acceptable to God to achieve the reconciliation for our Salvation. (Heb.5:8-9, 9:14)

When like Jesus, your body is put to death through the Holy Spirit, you too will be quickened by Him to manifest God's nature in every area of your life. This includes sound health, strength and vitality in your body.

You live after the flesh by gratifying the desires of the body to commit sin whose wage is spiritual death. (Rom.6:23; Ezek.18:4) But when you through the Holy Spirit put your body to death by denying its desires, you will be able to walk after Him (obey Him) to manifest God's nature and live by His life which is Eternal Life.

Therefore, there are two things the Holy Spirit does to enable you crucify your body. The first is that He reveals to you God's Word to obey. If there is no instruction from Him, there is nothing to obey to require crucifixion of the body.

The second is that, after revealing the Word to you, He also helps you to crucify your body to obey it. But how?

As concluded in yesterday's message, the regeneration of the believer's corrupt spirit (old man), to the perfect spirit (new man) that is in the image of God is achieved by the dissolving of the body through its crucifixion. (Eph.4:22-24; 2Cor.5:1-5) Here is further confirmation:

3 "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so WE ALSO SHOULD WALK IN NEWNESS OF LIFE.
5 FOR IF WE HAVE BEEN PLANTED TOGETHER IN THE LIKENESS OF HIS DEATH, WE SHALL BE ALSO IN THE LIKENESS OF HIS RESURRECTION:
6 Knowing this, that OUR OLD MAN IS CRUCIFIED WITH HIM, THAT THE BODY OF SIN MIGHT BE DESTROYED, THAT HENCEFORTH WE SHOULD NOT SERVE SIN.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin." (Rom.6:3-7)

You are baptized into Christ, not by water baptism, but by your decision to follow Him when you confessed Him as your Lord and Saviour to become born-again; the same way that the children of Israel were baptized into Moses by their decision to follow Him into the Red Sea, and as he was led by the cloud. (1Cor.10:1-2)

You are afterwards baptized into His death by also following His example to put your body to death by its crucifixion in order to destroy or dissolve the corrupt old man that is in bo***ge to sin through the body, for the new man that does not serve sin to emerge - REGENERATION. (Rom.6:3, 6-7)

Having died with Him by putting your body to death, you will automatically be buried with Him and resurrect with Him. (1Pet.3:18b) What was the outcome of His resurrection?

3 "Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
4 And DECLARED TO BE THE SON OF GOD WITH POWER, ACCORDING TO THE SPIRIT OF HOLINESS, BY THE RESURRECTION FROM THE DEAD:" (Rom.1:3-4)

Jesus was declared to be the Son of God by God Himself; first at Jordan River when He was being baptized by John the Baptist; and later, on the Mount of Transfiguration. (Matt.3:17, 17:5) Therefore, the resurrection mentioned in this passage was not His resurrection after dying on the Cross at Calvary. It was His resurrection from putting His body to death, while alive. (1Pet.3:18b) As expressed in this passage, He resurrected to manifest the nature of God among which were His holiness and power.

Therefore, when you die with Him by putting your body to death, you will resurrect with Him to begin to manifest God's nature as a lifestyle - His holiness, faith, power, wisdom, love, peace, joy, judgment and all-sufficiency, among others. This is the NEWNESS OF LIFE in which you will begin to walk as expressed in Rom.6:4. You will resurrect 100% spirit that Jesus was talking about in John 3:5.

But how does washing with water and renewing of the Holy Spirit achieve this crucifixion of the body to regenerate the spirit? (Tit.3:5)

THE TRAP OF FOOD; BEWARE! (21)

BEYOND FOOD BECOMING AN IDOL TRAP (4)

As revealed in the last message, REGENERATION involves the dissolving of the old man that is corrupt through the lust of the body, for the new man which is the perfect spirit that is in the image of God characterised by His nature, the most dominant of which is His holiness, to emerge. This process is what this passage of Scriptures is describing here:

1 "For we know that if OUR EARTHLY HOUSE OF THIS TABERNACLE WERE DISSOLVED, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: NOT FOR THAT WE WOULD BE UNCLOTHED, BUT CLOTHED UPON, THAT MORTALITY MIGHT BE SWALLOWED UP OF LIFE.
5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit." (2Cor.5:1-5)

Our earthly house or tabernacle is our body. There are two connotations of its dissolving for the perfect spirit to emerge, in this passage.

The first and popular connotation is when we die physically and the body returns to the dust for us to be clothed with new heavenly body from God. Right now, we don't know what this glorious heavenly body looks like; but we will know when Jesus comes. (Phil.3:21; 1John 3:2) But every believer that hopes to receive it must purify himself to become pure and perfect while in this earthly body. (1John 3:2-3)

The second connotation of the dissolving of the body which is not very popular is when we are still in the body, alive. Verse 4 which addresses it, in the Amplified Bible says:

"For while we are still in this tent, we groan under the burden and sigh deeply (weighed down, depressed, oppressed)–NOT THAT WE WANT TO PUT OFF THE BODY (the clothing of the spirit), BUT RATHER THAT WE WOULD BE FURTHER CLOTHED, SO THAT WHAT IS MORTAL (OUR DYING BODY) MAY BE SWALLOWED UP BY LIFE [after the resurrection]."

The body is what makes us subject to death (mortality) through sin whose wage is death. (Rom.6:23; Ezek.18:4) That is the source of the distresses. But we don't want to discard it now because that will mean dying physically! Rather, we want to be clothed upon or overshadowed by the Holy Spirit from heaven who will swallow up death through eternal life to terminate all our distresses. This was the reason why God gave us the seed measure deposit of the Holy Spirit at newbirth. (Eph.1:13-14) But we will be overshadowed by Him only when this seed measure becomes full measure of being filled with His fullness. This will happen only as the body is put to death through its crucifixion:

"..being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:" (1Pet.3:18b)

IT IS AS THE BODY IS BEING DISSOLVED THROUGH ITS CRUCIFIXION THAT YOU ARE SIMULTANEOUSLY FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT (clothed upon) FOR YOUR QUICKENING. It is when your body is dead that you will be filled with His fullness for you to resurrect to manifest as a lifestyle the life of God (eternal life) that swallows up death.

Verse 9 of our main text which also captures the two connotations reads:

"So our aim is to please him always, WHETHER WE ARE HERE IN THIS BODY OR AWAY FROM THIS BODY." (2Cor.5:9 NLT)

We are away from the body when we die and receive our glorious heavenly body that enables us to please God always naturally. But we will be able to please God in our earthly body only when it is crucified. This is because, "..THEY THAT ARE IN THE FLESH CANNOT PLEASE GOD." (Rom.8:8)

Regeneration is achieved through the crucifixion of the body.

Today is the first day of the month of April, the resurrection month; and the dominion of the believer is in his resurrection. (Acts 2:24; Rom.1:3-4, 6:6-8)

Therefore, this month, God will through the power of His resurrection put you in dominion over Satan, sin and all the contrary situations of life, in Jesus name. (Eph.1:19-21; Phil.3:10)

THE TRAP OF FOOD; BEWARE! (16)

ESCAPING THE TRAP OF FOOD (5)

SPIRIT OF FEAR (2)
As revealed in yesterday's message, Jesus was without sin because He endured the suffering of denying the desires of His body as a lifestyle to put it to death. That was how He was able to through the Holy Spirit, offer Himself as sacrifice without the blemish of sin to God to secure Salvation for mankind. (1Pet.3:18b; Heb.2:9, 5:8-9, 9:14):

"Forasmuch then as CHRIST HATH SUFFERED FOR US IN THE FLESH, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for HE THAT HATH SUFFERED IN THE FLESH HATH CEASED FROM SIN;" (1Pet.4:1)

This was the cardinal example that Jesus set for believers, for them to be without sin. (1Pet.2:21-22; Rom.6:6-7)

But Satan knows the WEAKNESS OF MAN'S BODY - THAT IT LIKES PLEASURE AND NEVER WANTS TO SUFFER. This is what he capitalises on by plaguing him with the fear of experiencing the suffering of denying the desires of his body, through his spirit of fear, which prevents him from enduring the suffering as Jesus did. He revealed his knowledge in this respect during the travail of Job:

4 "So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Skin for skin! Yes, ALL THAT A MAN HAS HE WILL GIVE FOR HIS LIFE.
5 But stretch out Your hand now, and TOUCH HIS BONE AND HIS FLESH, AND HE WILL SURELY CURSE YOU TO YOUR FACE!” (Job 2:4-5 NKJV)

Satan was simply saying here that a man will rebel against any attempt to make his body suffer, which may lead to loss of his life. So he plagues men with fear that they will suffer or even die, if they deny their body its desires, to make them rebel against God. For example:

The fear that he will not have enough to sustain himself may prevent a believer from paying his tithe from his salary which he considers too small to meet his needs; thereby keeping him in bo***ge to the sin of stealing - robbing God. (Mal.3:8)

The fear of losing her job with which she sustains herself may make a lady succumb to the immoral advances of her boss; thereby keeping her in bo***ge to the sin of adultery.

The fear of dying of hunger as presented by Esau may prevent a believer from abstaining from food to obey a fasting instruction from the Lord; thereby keeping him in bo***ge to that disobedience. (Gen.25:30-32)

Satan has been using this weapon together with the spirit of lust for ages. Through them he has been able to keep humanity in rebellion to God. (Eph.2:2-3; Heb.2:15)

But he didn't succeed against Job, the PERFECT. (Job 1:1, 8) When his wife asked him to rebel against God in line with Satan's expectation when he was suffering in his body, this was his response:

"..You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?" IN ALL THIS, JOB DID NOT SIN IN WHAT HE SAID." (Job 2:10 NIV)

As a New Testament saint, through Christ, you have access to a much greater dimension of Grace to endure the suffering of denying the desires of the body than Job had access to. (John 1:16-17)

But you must know how to position yourself to receive abundance of this Grace as a lifestyle.

Job's change came. As you patiently wait for God obeying Him, your change will surely come by His favour; when it comes, you will forget all your years of hard service like a dream of the night, in Jesus name. (Job 42:10; Psalm 126:1)

THE TRAP OF FOOD; BEWARE! (15)

ESCAPING THE TRAP FOOD (4)

As revealed in the last message, Satan's main strategy for destroying men is to turn everything that God created for their enjoyment to an idol that breeds sin whose wage is death, in their hearts. (Rom.6:23; Ezek.14:4-7, 18:4)

As also revealed, the spirit of lust and the spirit of fear are his two evil spirits by which he keeps the whole of humanity in bo***ge to sin through idols. We looked at how he uses the spirit of lust in the last message; now let us see how he uses the spirit of fear.

2. SPIRIT OF FEAR

God's Word says:
"For God hath not given us the SPIRIT OF FEAR; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2Tim.1:7)

If the spirit of fear is not from God, then it is from Satan. The spirit of a sound mind is the spirit of wisdom, which together with the spirit of power constitute the major components of the Grace of Jesus Christ, for exercising dominion over Satan and sin, as previously revealed.

Concerning the fear weapon of Satan, God's Word again says:

"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that THROUGH DEATH he might destroy him that HAD the POWER OF DEATH, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through FEAR OF DEATH were all their lifetime subject to bo***ge." (Heb.2:14-15)

There are three "deaths" mentioned in this passage each with a different meaning from the others.

The first Death refers to the death of Jesus on the Cross through which He defeated Satan and stripped him of his power, to secure Salvation for mankind. (Matt.28:18; Col.2:15)

The second Death was the spiritual death that Satan HAD the power to bring men into by making them to commit sin whose wage is death. (Rom.6:23) Before Jesus died on the Cross to defeat him, he HAD this power. But now, he no more has it. What he has now is deception - tricking ignorant men (both believers and unbelievers) to submit to the power that they think he has. It is like a thief using a toy gun to deceive people to rob them of their possession. That is how Satan the thief robs believers of their inheritance of peace, joy, health and abundance, among others. (John 10:10a)

The third Death is the death through which Satan put men in bo***ge to sin. This death is not physical death, but the suffering of denying the desires of the body to crucify it (to put it to death). This is the death that the Scriptures are talking about in respect of Jesus in these passages:

" ..being put to DEATH IN THE FLESH, but quickened by the Spirit:" (1Pet.3:18b)

"But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the SUFFERING OF DEATH, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man." (Heb.2:9)

Jesus endured the suffering of denying the desires of His body to put it to death (THE SUFFERING OF DEATH), which enabled Him obey God as a lifestyle up to dying on the Cross (second death in the passage) for the Salvation of all men (Phil.2:8):

"Though he were a Son, yet LEARNED HE OBEDIENCE BY THE THINGS WHICH HE SUFFERED;
9 AND BEING MADE PERFECT, HE BECAME THE AUTHOR OF ETERNAL SALVATION UNTO ALL THEM THAT OBEY HIM;" (Heb.5:8-9)

It is the fear of experiencing this suffering that prevents many people from enduring the suffering to put their bodies to death to obey God. This is the fear that Satan plagues men with through his spirit of fear to keep them in bo***ge to sin. The spirit of fear also is a spirit of the world - it is everywhere. (Heb.2:15)

THE TRAP OF FOOD; BEWARE! (14)

ESCAPING THE TRAP FOOD (3)

For you to effectively deploy the weapon of Grace through the power and wisdom of God that Jesus has given you to exercise dominion over all your adversaries (Luke 21;15), you need to understand their strategies.

Your chief adversary is Satan. (1Pet.5:8) His main strategy is to turn everything that God created for your enjoyment of which food is number one, to an idol that breeds sin that destroys, in the heart; "For the wages of sin is death..." (Rom.6:23a)

He has two major tools for implementing this strategy. They are: his spirit of lust and spirit of fear.

He got Eve to disobey God through the spirit of lust. (Gen.3:6) He got Adam to disobey God through the spirit of fear - the fear of offending his wife. (Gen.3:17) It is through these two evil spirits that the whole of humanity is in bo***ge to him. (Eph.2:2-3; Heb.2:14-15)

1. SPIRIT OF LUST
What the spirit of lust does is to fire up your love for the things of the world to be more than your love for God - loving the creation more than the Creator, which is spiritual adultery. (Rom.1:23-25; Jas.4:4) The Scriptures also refer to it as worldliness:

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. IF ANY MAN LOVE THE WORLD, THE LOVE OF THE FATHER IS NOT IN HIM. For all that is in the world, THE LUST OF THE FLESH, AND THE LUST OF THE EYES, AND THE PRIDE OF LIFE, IS NOT OF THE FATHER, but is of the world." (1John 2:15-16)

The pride of life is the lust of the mind. The spirit of lust or spirit of the world is in the air - everywhere:

"Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to THE PRINCE OF THE POWER OF THE AIR, THE SPIRIT THAT NOW WORKETH IN THE CHILDREN OF DISOBEDIENCE: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past IN THE LUSTS OF OUR FLESH, FULFILLING THE DESIRES OF THE FLESH AND OF THE MIND; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others." (Eph.2:2-3)

Satan is the prince of the power of the air. His spirit of lust is in everywhere you find air. Therefore, it is on the streets; in the buses, offices, markets, schools, aircrafts, churches and homes! Everywhere!!

It is through your body whose desires are for the world and the things of the world that the spirit gains access to you. For it not to gain entrance into you to fire up your love for food above your love for God thereby turning it to an idol, IT MUST BE DEAD. You must crucify it.

You crucify your body by subduing or denying its desires which is painful. As revealed in the last message, God's help for you to endure this pain or suffering is His Grace through His power and wisdom.

For you to exercise dominion over your body and hence Satan therefore, you must know how to position yourself to receive abundance of this Grace as a lifestyle. (Rom.5:17b)

THE TRAP OF FOOD; BEWARE! (13)

ESCAPING THE TRAP FOOD (2)

As revealed in yesterday's message, you will escape being trapped into idolatry through the abundance of Grace of Jesus Christ. You will require this Grace in these major areas:

1. To avoid eating excessively at any meal - to avoid becoming a glutton. (Prov.23:1-2)
2. To avoid eating indiscriminately, but as scheduled - two times daily, morning and evening. (Eccl.10:17; Exod.16:12; 1Kgs.17:2-6)
3. To abstain from food through fasting constantly and as necessary. (Mark 2:19-20; Isa.58:6-11)
4. In addition to the three areas listed above which we have discussed, the fourth area is healthy living - to avoid eating food that appeal to the taste but poisons the body to shorten life span.

Some people try to meet some of these requirements through self-discipline; but very few succeed. The truth is that there is a limit beyond which self-discipline through determination cannot carry you, when it comes to subduing the desires of the body.

To meet all the requirements as a lifestyle, engaging abundance of Grace of Jesus Christ is non-negotiable. This is because:

"...NOT BY MIGHT, NOR BY POWER, BUT BY MY SPIRIT,' Says the Lord of hosts. Therefore NO MOUNTAIN HOWEVER HIGH CAN STAND BEFORE ZERUBBABEL! FOR IT WILL FLATTEN OUT BEFORE HIM! And Zerubbabel will finish building this Temple with mighty shouts of thanksgiving for God's mercy, DECLARING THAT ALL WAS DONE BY GRACE ALONE." (Zech.4:6-7 TLB)

You will access this Grace through your fellowship with the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Grace that is in you (Heb.10:29):

"May THE GRACE OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, and the love of God, AND THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT be with you all." (2Cor.13:14 NIV)

He will give you through the Power and Wisdom of God to exercise dominion over your body:

"...much more THEY WHICH RECEIVE ABUNDANCE OF GRACE and of the gift of righteousness SHALL REIGN IN LIFE BY ONE, JESUS CHRIST.)" (Rom.5:17b)

Through abundance of Grace you will reign by Jesus Christ; and He is the Power and Wisdom of God. (2Cor.1:24)

The Power of God and the Wisdom of God are the two major components of Grace for exercising dominion. Even in the natural setting, kings rule by wisdom and power. (Prov.8:15-16; Eccl.8:4)

The Power of God released through His Word in your mouth (Heb.4:12; Prov.18:21); and the Wisdom of God through spiritual enlightenment by the teaching of the Holy Spirit (John 14:26), is the unbeatable combination that Jesus has given every believer to exercise dominion on all enemies, beginning with his body:

"For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist." (Luke 21:15)

From now on, no mountain of challenge, no matter how high, shall be able to stand before you; it shall flatten out before you through the abundance of Grace of God, in Jesus name. (Zech.4:7 TLB; Mark 11:23)

THE TRAP OF FOOD; BEWARE! (12)

ESCAPING THE TRAP OF FOOD

God is a loving Father who delights in the wellbeing of His children. (Psalm 35:27; 3John 1:2) He is not looking for who to punish, but to polish and decorate. His commands and commandments are not to grieve us, but to groom us for our throne of glory (1John 5:3; Psalm 19:7-11); and they include those concerning eating.

He has given us all things for our enjoyment which include food through our taste buds. (Acts 14:17; 1Tim.6:17) But He doesn't want food to become an idol that breeds sin in our lives, to destroy us. Hence, His commandments regarding eating to measure and schedule, and fasting, that among other benefits, prevent food from becoming idols in our lives; as we have been discussing.

But as also revealed in the previous messages, the body's highest desire is for food. Denying or subduing the body's desire for food is what hurts it most. When the chips are down, the body can do without everything it desires for as long as it is denied, except food. Nigeria is currently implementing a change of her currency in a way that has made it extremely difficult for people to have access to their money in the banks. The nationwide frustration experienced led to the vandalisation of many banks across the country. No one will join in burning down a bank building because of no money to commit adultery or attend a party. The real problem was feeding!

Therefore, the believer requires help for him to be able to continually subdue the desires of his body for food in compliance with God's commandments, as a lifestyle. He requires help to be able to endure the suffering of self-denial as a lifestyle. This help can only come from God:

"My flesh and my heart fail;
But GOD IS THE STRENGTH OF MY HEART and my portion forever." (Psalm 73:26 NKJV)

When your body is in control as it is for all men, it will drag your heart and spirit into disobedience and sin. (Rom.8:7-8) God will help you to reverse this natural trend by strengthening your heart and spirit; and He does this with His GRACE:

"...IT IS GOOD FOR OUR HEARTS TO BE STRENGTHENED BY GRACE, NOT BY EATING ceremonial foods, which is of no benefit to those who do so." (Heb.13:9b NIV)

God will never ask you to do what He has not made provision for you to be able to do.

Therefore, positioning yourself to receive abundance of this Grace is the key to escaping the trap of food:

"...much more THEY WHICH RECEIVE ABUNDANCE OF GRACE and of the gift of righteousness SHALL REIGN IN LIFE by one, Jesus Christ.)" (Rom.5:17b)

To reign in life is to exercise dominion over Satan, sin and death. But it begins with dominion over your body which is the access of Satan and sin to you. (Rom.7:24)

You will escape through abundance of Grace of Jesus Christ.
