THE GOOD SHEPHERD (JOHN 10:11)

The kingdom life in Christ is a journey, and in it, every believer needs direction, protection, provision, and the might of our Saviour. There are seasons when the road is clear, and everything seems to be going well, but there are also moments when we walk through uncertainty, pain, temptation, disappointment, and valleys we never expected. In such moments, we discover that our human strength and wisdom are not always enough. We need a Shepherd. When Jesus calls Himself the Good Shepherd, He is not offering a sentimental metaphor. He is declaring an unmatched, fierce commitment. He contrasts Himself directly with the evil one that views us as a means to an end. The thief who comes to steal, kill and destroy; the Good Shepherd stays all the time, even in our weak moments. He does not flee when evil comes; He steps into the breach. Today, as we open to God's Spirit, the question before us is not whether we are prone to wander; it is whether we will quiet the competing voices and yield to the Shepherd who laid down His life to bring us to the Father and an end of glory in our obedience.

There is a divine purpose behind every life that God has redeemed. We are not only saved to escape sin but given a divine direction, a heavenly purpose, and an eternal destination. In it, God has designed our lives to ultimately reveal His goodness, His power, His grace, and His faithfulness. This glory is not merely about what God wants to give us; it is about what He wants to reveal through us. Our lives are meant to become vessels through which His glory can be seen. However, this divine appointment does not mean the absence of difficulties. Sometimes the path to glory passes through seasons of testing, waiting, rejection, disappointment, and suffering. Therefore, we must understand that the process may be painful, but the purpose is glorious. There are seasons when our circumstances seem to contradict God's promises. We may look at where we are and wonder, “How can anything glorious come out of this?” But God does not require our current situation to look perfect before He begins His glorious work. He specialises in bringing beauty out of ashes, purpose out of pain, and testimony out of trials. What we see as a delay may be God's preparation. What we call a setback may be part of His process. What appears to be an ending may be the start of a new beginning of a dimension of His purpose. Thus, it is a call to recognise who we are in God's purpose, to trust Him through the process, and to remain faithful until His purpose is fulfilled. We are vessels of mercy, shaped by His grace, transformed by His Spirit, and destined to reflect the glory of God in our obedience to Christ.

In the midst of life in this fallen world, filled with seasons that makes believer sometimes feel tired, discouraged, overwhelmed, and out of ideas, as God reveals the strength of supernatural strength to survive, succeed, and even superintend. That strength is his promise to us to renew our strength when we wait, enabling us to mount up unto the summit of victory and dominion with wings as eagles. This is a declaration that we who place our confidence in him can receive power to rise above the circumstances that seek to keep us down. To rise, therefore, does not mean that challenges will never come, but that they will not have the final word. The believer may pass through the valley, but it will not become his permanent dwelling place. We may experience weakness, but that will not define our destiny because in it, God does not remove the difficulties but give grace to overcome them. Thus, rising above is to look beyond our present limitations and place our trust in the unlimited strength of God, for when ours end, his own begins. When our natural ability reaches its limit, his grace takes us beyond that barrier as we yield in total surrender to his call and continuing obedience to his word,ways, and wisdom, forever unto all glory.
