LIMITLESS POSSIBILITIES

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19

Jesus is the way into the very presence of God (John 14:6). Though Him, we have access to the blessings of the Abrahamic covenant (Galatians 3:14). How much of these blessings have you received? Jesus Christ is also the way forward in life; He is the way where none exists. After the children of Israel left Egypt, at God’s command, they stopped at the Red Sea. While they were by the Red Sea, the Egyptians came chasing hard after them. From the look of things, they had reached their wits’ end. They could not go into the sea, and they could not turn back either (Exodus 14:1-18). They began to cry to Moses, and Moses cried to God. The Lord told them to go forward. He became the way across the sea, and they went through.

Are you stuck like the Israelites? Do you feel you have exhausted all known avenues and possibilities? Does it appear there is no other way into your destination? Rejoice! There is still a way in! Jesus is the way that can take you to your destination where all else has failed. He will surely take you into your place of joy, blessing and favour.

It is amazing to know that the Lord can go as far as creating new things in old situations in order to make a way that takes you to your place of desire. He gave His word of assurance on this in Isaiah 43:19:

“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

As long as the Way works in your favour, be prepared to see new things. If you desire to access promotion, but all existing seats on your next level are occupied, invite the Way in. He can create a new position for you. He can give you superiors the idea of a new department and move you into it. There is no limitation to the new things He can create just to make a way for you. Have the enemies blocked the way into your expected desire? The Lord will create a fresh way for you. He will do a new thing that will accommodate your good desires. As long as you have the Way with you, there are limitless possibilities for you.

Father, I thank You for the limitless opportunities at my disposal, and for always making a way for me in all situations.

MORE THAN CONQUEROUS

What a glorious Lord! He who daily bears our burdens also gives us our salvation. Psalm 68:19 (TLB)

Someone once gave an analogy on what it means to be more than a conqueror: When a boxer gets into the ring for about, he receives blows and jabs from the opponent; he bleeds and has a swollen face, but in the end if he knocks out his opponent, he is declared the winner. After receiving the belt, he hands it over to his wife. While he is the conqueror, his wife is the one who is more than a conqueror because without fighting at all, she got what the conqueror fought for.

Our memory verse says “We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.” This means that, as Jesus' bride, He has already given you victory without a fight; thus, you are more than a conqueror! “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33

Jesus, our bridegroom has overcome the world on our behalf already. Therefore, no matter the tribulation around, we will never be down; we will soar above it. He has also overcome poverty for your sake. (2 Corinthians 8:9) says: “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake, he became poor so that you through his poverty might become rich.” As long as you are His bride, regardless of your present financial situation, you can’t die poor.

Likewise, Christ has triumphed over sicknesses for you so no disease can stay in your body. Isaiah 53:5 tells us: “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

Are you His bride? Are you submissive to Him?, Do you do His will?.

Surrender all to Him today and you will become more than a conqueror.

As long as you are Christ’s bride, be rest assured of continuous triumph.

FULFILLING THE PROPHECY

Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest Luke 19:38

The ministry of Jesus Christ on the earth is replete with the fulfilment of prophecies, His birth, death, resurrection and second coming among others, are all in fulfilment of what the prophets had foretold about Him.

In our passage, Christ's entry into Jerusalem was the last before going to Calvary. His popularity could not bring any doubt in the mind of the owner of the c**t He wanted to ride to Jerusalem. As He entered the city, people ran out to meet Him, spreading their clothes, leaves and branches of trees on the wayside in His honour. This was the fulfilment of Zechariah 9:9, which says, "behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation, lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a c**t the foal of an ass.

The choice of the time Christ entered into Jerusalem was indeed perfect. It was for the people to know that He was the real Messiah. They held wrong view of His messiahship. They even thought He became the leader, who would liberate them from the Roman Empire. Christ's Coming is not only for a set of religious people or nations, but also for the whole world. He came to liberate the whole world from the imperial rule of Satan. This shall be fulfilled during His millennial reign.

Despite this ageless truth, several millions of people still hold erroneous belief about the Personality of Jesus Christ. If your purpose of coming to Christ is just for earthly gains, then you have made a great mistake. You must "seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). Jesus came to fulfil all the prophecies. At the centre of His prophecies is salvation. It is God's free gift to all men through Christ our Lord. It can be attained by confessing and forsaking of sins, and receiving Christ as personal Saviour.

Don't get the purpose of Christ's coming wrong.

THE COMMANDOS I

No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 2 Timothy 2:4

Sometimes ago in the American Army, a battalion was dropped behind enemy lines. Initially, it was believed that the enemies were not aware, however, the enemies eventually surrounded the battalion. Once it became clear that the battalion would be defeated, the leader of the group phoned their headquarters for support saying We are totally surrounded and outnumbered at least 100 to 1; send the Marines. Legend has it that the phrase send the marines was derived from this event.

At that time, only three Marines were available for the assignment and they were all sent. They worked all night and created a path for the battalion to escape. While the battalion was moving, they saw thousands of dead enemies. The three commandos had killed them in just one night.

There are ordinary Christian soldiers and there are Christian commandos. As for me, l have determined not to be an ordinary soldier for Christ, I want to be a commando. What about you?.

Commandos go through the most rigorous qualification training. That is why a commando for Christ can weather any storm. He is unshakable. Job was a commando. No wonder he stood strong and even came out stronger in the face of adversity. The true strength of a boxer is measured by the opponent he/she faces. Likewise, the strength of a true Christian soldier is known by the kind of opponents he/she has brought down. If an ordinary insult is enough to bring you down, then you are not yet ready to be a member of this select group in the army of Christ. If you are still finding good excuses to commit sin, you are obviously not yet ready for the training, talk less of becoming a commando. If you would be used by God, you must go through the training. Just as no one can join the army without being fit, God cannot use an untrained person.

If you would be a commando for God, you must go through the most rigorous training. Surrender all and make yourself available today. Stay on the winning side.

Father, I surrender all to You. Please help me to trust You even more as You train me to become a commando for You, in the mighty name of Jesus.

DEPENDABLE COMPANION

Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction (PSALMS 119:92)

Priscilla J. Owens, a renowned hymn writer, taught in a public school for 49 years. As a member of the Union Square Methodist Church in Baltimore, she composed at least 253 hymns with focus on the power of God's word. Of note is "Give Me the Bible," a hymn she composed in 1883.

At large, the hymn shows the Holy Scripture is dependable and powerful. It is what every believer needs at this trying time when it is becoming difficult worldwide to have a dependable companion. We have cases of people tricking their friends to be kidnapped for ransom. Some gave up their blood relations for money. Security has broken down in many countries, particularly in developing nations, so much that life is almost meaningless, while justice is a mirage.

Our text acknowledges the efficacy of God's words. Also, it acknowledges the immutability of the Almighty in whom there is no variableness nor shadow of turning. God's faithfulness from generation to generation lends more credence to the durability and reliability of His word.

Malachi 3:6 further confirms the dependability of God's word: "I am the LORD, I change not." Scriptural proofs suggest that the eternal quality is not subject in any way to the elements of nature. That explains why the psalmist always found solace in the powerful influence of the Word in his affliction. The word of the Lord is a pleasant companion at all times.

The best evidence of our love for the word of God is to read and live by it daily. The more of His word you have in you, the more His abiding presence is assured. Like the psalmist, all believers need to consciously read and meditate on God's words daily; honor and keep all His commandments.

A man is vulnerable when he forsakes God's words.

BABY KING?

Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning! Ecclesiastes 10:16

In the previous study, the father was rightly described as the priest of the home. He is however, also the king of the home. What a father does will have an effect on every member of his family. As a father, you cannot afford to act like a child. From our memory verse, we see that it is the family that would suffer for the childishness of their king (the father). Remember that everything you do is an example for your children. When you drink or send your son to buy you ci******es, you are already introducing him to that lifestyle.

When your children see you having an affair with a strange woman, you are sowing a terrible seed in their hearts. The way you talk to their mother is probably how your sons will talk to their wives too. The low self-esteem of their mother due to how you treat her will probably become the self-esteem of your daughters too. As mentioned earlier, you are the priest of the home; when the priest is spiritually asleep, God help that home!

There are some demonic issues that a father needs only issue a command for them to disappear, but if he is a spiritual baby, such issues would linger. As a father, how often do you pray for and on your children? Are you deliberate about teaching them the word of God? Another reason for you to watch your spiritual life is that children could reap the harvests of the spiritual seeds their fathers have sown.

In 1 Kings 11:34, God softened Solomon’s punishment for misbehaving because of David his father. "Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant’s sake whom I chose because he kept my commandments and my statutes." Jonathan on the other hand was a good boy, but he partook in the punishment of his father and died a shameful death.

I pity any child who has a baby as a father and I pray that God will rescue such children from any danger that their father’s ignorance or childishness can cause them in the mighty Name of Jesus.

SIMPLY EXQUISITE

And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he make the both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak (Mark 7:37)

Every generation has produced some personalities who became outstanding in their chosen fields of endeavor. The list includes technocrats, sportsmen, clergymen, politicians , businessmen, academics and other professionals . Many have been to the point of near worship. Truly, many of them deserve the honor accorded them. But even the best of these people have their dark side. Some of them have skeletons in their cupboards and would be hated with passion if people get close enough to know who they really were and what they represented. But this not so with Jesus.

In His earthly life and ministry, the more closely people knew Him, the more amazed they felt about His innocence, loving-kindness and sheer power. The inhabitants of the Greek city of Decapolis said of Him, ”He hath done all things well”, when they observed His miraculous healing of a deaf and dumb man.

Their eloquent testimony agreed with friends and foes who encountered Christ. Of Him it was recorded, ”...who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil

...” Peter said of Him, ”who did no sin, neither was their guile found in his mouth.” Pilate confessed, ”I have examined him before you, have found no fault in this man.” The officers sent by the Chief Priests and Pharisees to arrest Him heard him and went back to report that “Never man spake like this man.” When He asked, “which one of you convinces me of sin?” nobody came forward.

Christ is unique in every way. In His personality, passion and performance, He does all things well. Dying for your sins, He is the only worthy One to be our Savior and Lord. If you have found Him to be so, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in [Him]”. If not, then repent, forsake your sin, pick up your cross and follow Him.

The Christian\s greatest commitment is to follow Christ\s footsteps.
