WEEKEND INSPIRATION
with Olufemi Babatope.
Topic: DEPLOY YOUR TREASURES:
"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal" (Matthew 6:19).
Treasures are things we greatly value or cherish; they are things we consider to be precious to us. They are things God deposited into you for the fulfilment of His purpose for your life. Treasures could be emotional, financial, spiritual or material wealth, they could be animate or inanimate, or a combination of two or more of these.
By definition, treasures are not common; you don't pick them on the surface, you have to dig for them. No wonder they are jealousy guarded or secured against theft, corruption or vegaries of the weather. No wise person exposes his treasures to jeopardy. In most cases, you store uncommon things in safe places.
However, treasures are useless until you put them to use. Hidden or unused treasures may be corrupted, diminished in value, stolen or rot away over time. For example, if you pack a car or lock a house for a long time, it will begin to deteriorate. It will be affected by the law of atrophy. Dreams, gold, ideas, insight, knowledge, money, strength, skills, revelations, relationships, vision, wisdom and other treasures can be lost or diminish in value if not wisely deployed.
"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you" (Mathew 7:6).
Deploy your treasures to impart or improve your church, community and nation; influence the world or your generation; add meaning to lives and destinies to the glory of God.
In the attempts to guard and deploy your treasures, you need a combination of mental, physical and spiritual efforts. You will need to:
1. Do some thorough thinking over them.
2. Take functional, pragmatic steps to deploy them.
3. Pray aggressively over them.
