Folashade tells the story of a young woman deeply in love with her fiancé, Adewale. Before their wedding, Adewale leaves for his hometown, telling Folashade he must visit his ailing father. Unknown to her, he also intends to formally inform his family about their relationship and seek their blessing.
While Adewale is away, a wealthy man named Kolapo begins pursuing Folashade. She repeatedly rejects his advances, remaining loyal to Adewale. Determined to have her, Kolapo approaches Folashade's father, the Baale, and wins his favor with expensive gifts and promises of wealth.
Blinded by greed, the Baale pressures his daughter to accept Kolapo's proposal. When she refuses, he subjects her to emotional abuse and physical violence until she finally gives in.
What Folashade doesn't know is that Adewale is secretly a prince. During his journey home, he secures his birthright and prepares to return to formally ask for her hand in marriage. But when he finally arrives, he is met with heartbreak—Folashade is already being wed to Kolapo.
The marriage quickly turns into a nightmare. Kolapo reveals his true nature, becoming abusive and constantly accusing Folashade of marrying him only for his wealth. Trapped in an unhappy union, Folashade must live with the painful consequences of a decision she was forced to make.
As Christians, the story reminds us that impatience, greed, and yielding to ungodly pressure can lead us away from God's best for our lives. It challenges us to trust God's timing, remain steadfast in our convictions, and never trade lasting purpose for temporary gain or human approval.
