THE SUMMARY OF THE BIBLE TEXTS FOR TOMORROW WORSHIP - SUNDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER, 2026.
FIRST LESSON : GENESIS 46: 1-7.
This passage teaches us that major transitions require both prayer and the assurance of God’s presence. Like Jacob, we often face moments where we must leave what is familiar for what is uncertain a new job, a new city, a new season and fear can easily rise. But God meets us at our “Beersheba,” the place of worship and sacrifice, to remind us that He is the God of our fathers and He does not change. When we choose to seek Him first, He speaks peace into our fear and gives direction for the next step. It also shows that God’s plan is bigger than our comfort. Egypt was not Jacob’s first choice, but it was where God would preserve and multiply his family. For us, it means that even when God leads us into uncomfortable places, He goes with us, He will sustain us, and He will fulfill His purpose in our lives if we move in obedience.
SECOND LESSON : ACTS 2: 29-41.
This passage shows us the power of truth spoken under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Peter did not manipulate emotions or water down the message; he preached Jesus as Lord, exposed sin, and offered the solution of repentance and faith. The same Holy Spirit that convicted that crowd in Jerusalem is still working today to cut us to the heart about our sin and to draw us to Jesus. For us, it means we are called to respond with the same urgency: turn from sin, identify with Christ in baptism, and receive the Holy Spirit who empowers us for a new life. It also reminds us that salvation is both personal and communal. Those 3,000 did not just make a decision and go home; they were added to the church, a community of believers. In our daily lives, God is still calling people to repent, offering forgiveness, filling them with His Spirit, and building them into His family, and He wants to use our witness to bring others into that same encounter.
May GOD have mercy on us and strengthen us in Jesus Christ name, amen.
