Jesuits North-West Africa Province The North-West Africa Province of the Society of Jesus is a a religious order of Roman Catholic priests and brothers.

The North-West Africa Province is made up of about 107 men. 95% of these are indigenous Nigerian and Ghanaian Jesuits, and are either priests, brothers, scholastics, and novices. The other 5% of the membership are expatriates drawing mainly from the United States.

Our Lady of the Way (Madonna della Strada) is a revered title for the Blessed Virgin Mary, famous as the patroness of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits).

When St. Ignatius of Loyola and his companions arrived in Rome, they celebrated Mass and taught catechism at this chapel. The original fresco was housed there before being moved to the Church of the GesĂą, the mother church of the Jesuits.

The Our Lady of the Way Prayer is frequently used to seek clarity, peace, and spiritual guidance when making major life decisions. It asks for Mary's intercession to serve as a compass through difficulties and to protect travelers.

Focused on the protection of the human person in the age of artificial intelligence, the document is expected to address the ethical and social challenges posed by emerging technologies in today’s world.
The encyclical was signed on May 15, marking the 135th anniversary of Rerum Novarum, the historic social encyclical of Pope Leo XIII.

St Peter Canisius is honored as Doctor of the Church for his heroic defense of Catholicism through teaching, preaching and writing catechisms. He was also one of the giants of the young Society of Jesus, serving as the first provincial of Germany, a post he held for 14 years.

Peter Canisisus is venerated as a patron saint of Germany; he is also patron of Catholic media, schools, educators and lay people. He founded 18 colleges and authored 37 books; his catechisms went through 200 printings in his lifetime alone.

“Even heaven is surprised…” — and yet, nothing is impossible for God.

On March 25, 2026, at Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja, Fr. Tyolumun Kinga-Upaa, SJ, professed his Final Vows in an atmosphere of awe, joy, and even a dramatic downpour—seen as a sign of God’s blessing.

Echoing the openness of Mary, his “yes” becomes a witness that when the heart is ready, God’s surprises become grace-filled wonders.

With great joy, we celebrate the diaconate ordination of our brothers, Gabriel and Emeka, on 7th April 2026 at the Basilica of Saint Mary Major.
To the glory of God, they were ordained by Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson, and they begin a new chapter of service to God and His Church.
May the Lord strengthen them in their mission of Word, altar, and charity.
