TOPIC:-WONDERS OF WAITING
TEXT: PSALMS 40: 1- 5
Our generation was utterly amazed with the scientific discoveries of the Seven Wonders of the World. The list includes: The Taj Mahal in Agra, India; The Great Wall of China in Beijing; The Christ The Redeemer Statue in Rio de Janeiro; Macchu Picchu in Peru; Chichen Itza in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula; The Roman Coliseum in Rome, and Petra (Jordan). Most of these sterling “wonders” had passed with time.
God is a wonderful God and wonders has been His nature since time immemorial. The word of God has never left any Bible student in the dark as regards this. Our text for consideration affords us what could be called “Nine Wonders in the WORD”. Waiting on God offers an avenue to experience these wonders and much more.
1. Wonders of Divine Attention. (v.1)
“I waited patiently for the Lord, ...he heard my cry”
King David, before any scientific discovery, affirmed with deep conviction that whoever waits upon the Lord shall have His attention. What a privilege to have in audience the Creator of Heavens and Earth. About 8 billion people are moving from here to there all in attempt to seek Him. Waiting guarantees His attention!
2. Wonders of Divine Lifting (v2)
Someone says, “When you see a turtle on the fence someone put it there.” The desire of every man of purpose is to be lifted. Powers that rage only brings down. But there is one who lifts, that is God. Waiting Room of the Almighty might look like a wasting room but alas! It’s a lifting room in disguise. David writes in verse 2 …he lifted me.
Your lifting this year is not in the hand of any man but God and it’s incontestably guaranteed in Jesus’ name. (Jam. 1:17; John 7:27)
3. Wonders of divine Establishment (v.2b):
Establishment is the major ingredient for publicity. It gives room for irresistible flourishing. The king’s waiting upon the Lord ushered him into the arena of establishment. He had to wait patiently for thirteen years to have the prophecy of his kingship over all Israel come to pass. Jumping from one place to another this year may not help you. A tree that does not remain at a spot will never tell the story of fruitfulness. Let God be your “all in all “as you trust Him with your whole heart. (Prov. 3: 5-6)
4. Wonders of Divine and Eternal Lyrics (v.3)
Songs of Praise stem from a heart of joy. Experiences that gladdens the heart are orchestrated by a principled waiting upon the Lord. Lyrics of widely acceptable songs flow ceaselessly from the fount of the Most High. He subsequently make it known to those who out of fear wait on Him. (Ps. 25: 13-15)
Prayer Points
1. Lord, have mercy on me.
2. Lord, help me to wait truly on you.
3. Lord, let waiting open the doors of your good pleasure unto me.
4. Lord, let my waiting this year bring about divine speed.
5. Dew of mercy continue to fall on FCCMI.
6. Lord, let territories be conquered for your glory through FCCMI in 2023.
7. FCCMI shall soar this year in Jesus name.
