What is the basis for calling yourself an evangelist?

Have you truly considered what the title "evangelist" means according to the Scriptures? An evangelist is one who has first received the gospel of Jesus Christ and has been sent to proclaim Him faithfully to others.

The Bible says, "Do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry." (2 Timothy 4:5, NKJV). This is not merely a title to adopt, but a calling to faithfully preach Christ.

Before claiming to be an evangelist, ask yourself:

- Have I personally repented and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ?
- Am I following Him according to His Word?
- Am I proclaiming the true gospel, or simply using a religious title?

No one can faithfully lead others to Christ without first knowing Him personally. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6, NKJV).

Therefore, let us seek first to know Christ, walk with Him, and then faithfully declare His gospel to the world. May our lives, words, and ministry bring glory to God rather than ourselves.
