DATE: MONDAY 25TH MAY 2026
TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING YOUR POSITION IN CHRIST
BIBLE TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 5: 17-21
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

GOLDEN VERSE:
"Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God." 2 CORINTHIANS 5:20

EXPOSITORY:
In Christ Jesus you become an entirely new creature of God with everything of your past nature gone and deleted forever; you have your relationship settled with God and with others as you carry the message of the gospel to others; you become a messenger of God and you stand right before God (as if you never did anything wrong).

An ambassador represents his home country in another country where he is sent to serve and there he enjoys the privileges of his home president in the country where he is serving. You are Christ ambassador, a messenger of God, serving on earth, representing the God of heaven as His messenger. You are always a foreigner in the country you are serving as an ambassador. Because you are of Christ you do not conform to the culture of the world (Romans 12:2). You live the heavenly culture while on earth as a pilgrim, in holiness and righteousness (Ephesians 4:24).

Your home country culture is that you be in charge of the affairs, have dominion and rule in your country of resident bringing the culture of your kingdom from heaven to earth. The kingdom of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14:17) You bring the light of God's kingdom and destroy the works of the devil because you have the power of your kingdom (1 John 3:8).

Understanding who you are in Christ is important in doing exploit in His Kingdom. You are created by God in His own image and likeness making you a partaker of Him.

You are His extension on earth, His handiwork and His investment. You are a partaker of His Kingdom, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. However, your position in Christ is tied to your understanding of what God has done for you by Christ sacrificial death and also on your level of growth in Him. Failure to grow into maturity will cause you not to enjoy your inheritance, because you lack understanding of the supernatural provisions available to you as a son and no more a slave. A slave doesn't have access to inheritance, only sons have access to inheritance. For some we would have to grow from being a child to a son, so as to be able to handle some responsibilities in the kingdom (Galatians 4: 1-4).

In your role as an ambassador you promote the affairs of heaven on earth. Your position starts with your relationship as a new creature, a son-ship status given at your new birth. Your state of enmity with God ends and you become His messenger standing in His righteousness to the nations.

PRAYER:
Father, grant me the grace to perfectly understand my position in You. Amen.

TOPIC: STRENGTH IS NOT ENOUGH 1

MEMORISE:
"Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD." JEREMIAH 17:5

READ: MATTHEW 26: 31-35, 74-75
31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.

34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the c**k crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

74 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the c**k crew.

75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the c**k crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

MESSAGE:
In Luke 5: 1-10, Peter did not fail because he wasn’t diligent, hardworking, or skilful. He had those characteristics, yet he failed. However, when help came from God, he succeeded. Your strength, skills, connections, and diligence are good, but if the Lord is not supporting you, they cannot make you successful.

Psalm 127:1 says:
Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Except the Lord guides and directs a fellow in his or her decisions, his or her labour will be in vain. Without God’s support, a person will look like a fool who doesn’t know how to get to the city (Ecclesiastes 10:15).

Some young people try to do many things because they think they have the strength to do them. However, the Bible makes us understand that although the glory of the youth is their strength (Proverbs 20:29), they will faint and be weary and utterly fall (Isaiah 40:30). This means that while the strength of the youths can help them achieve some things, it is not enough. It can fail them at some point, but if they wait on the Almighty God, they will be able to soar like eagles.

In today’s Bible reading, Peter felt he was strong enough to withstand temptations, yet he failed. His physical strength was not sufficient to sustain him in the day of adversity. His overconfidence in himself showed when he was sleeping instead of praying (Matthew 26: 40-43). Believers who rely on their strength in the face of temptation will fail.

Many have fallen because they felt they were too prayerful to fall into sin. They believed they were too wise and strong to fall into temptation, but eventually, they let their guard down.

1 Corinthians 10:12 warns us never to think that we can stand without God’s help. People who think in such a manner eventually fall.

Today’s memory verse tells us that a person who puts his confidence in flesh is cursed. Samson didn’t fall the day Delilah called a man to cut off his hair; rather, he started falling the moment he began to trust in his strength. The day a person stops trusting in God is the day his or her downfall begins.

I pray that you will never come to a point where you feel you are strong enough to do without God, in Jesus’ name.

KEY POINT:
Put all your trust in God alone.

TOPIC: YOU HAVE OVERCOME
BIBLE TEXT: 1 JOHN 5: 1-5
1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

GOLDEN VERSE:
"For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith." 1 JOHN 5:4

EXPOSITORY:
To overcome means to win, prevail over a particular thing. Jesus the lamb of God is our victory. Revelation 12:11 - And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. NKJV

The standard for overcoming has been set by Christ Himself, and for a man to also overcome, he must reference what Christ did. Christ overcame everything, challenges, tribulations, death, hell, forces of darkness and nothing could do him evil. To overcome the world means to have control and dominion over everything, that even in challenges, we would prevail. This is the assurance we also get when we become sons of the kingdom, that just like Jesus overcame, we would also overcome. Situations and challenges may not come out the way we wanted it to be, but staying with God and believing in His word guarantees our victory to overcome like Him. John 16:33 - These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." NKJV

From the anchor scripture, we can basically learn two things:

1. You are an overcomer because you are born of God. You have the new life of God in Jesus Christ because you had surrendered to Jesus and His lordship, emulating Him and allowing Him to direct the affairs of our lives as we subject ourselves to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

2. Your victory that overcomes is your faith. A major set back to winning in the heart of people is fear. There are lot of things that may come through your way but you must remain firm and resolute that indeed you are an overcomer, and also bear in mind that Jesus overcame all and also gave us this assurance (John 16:33).

The Bible promises special rewards for those that overcome: Revelation 2:17, 26; 3:5 - Το him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it." --26 And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations - 3:5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. NKJV

Your testimony is that you have already overcome and you are to maintain your victory and stay as an overcomer by the blood of the Lamb to the glory of God the Father. (Revelation 12:11).

PRAYER:
In Jesus name, my testimony is that I am a child of God that I have overcome Satan and his host of demons by Jesus blood. Amen.

MESSAGE:
Spiritual discernment is crucial for every Christian, especially when making critical life decisions such as choosing a marriage partner, where to live, and who to associate with.

Some Christians have married evil people disguised as angels of light because they lacked spiritual discernment.

They embraced Jezebels and Nabals – idolatrous and foolish people who can lead them astray and ruin their lives.

Believers need God’s direction to know the right people to marry.

For example, when Abraham wanted to choose a wife for Isaac, he gave his servant specific instructions about the type of woman who would be suitable for his son and fit to partake in the covenant God had made with him (Genesis 24: 1-8).

He told his servant to go to his country and kindred to take a wife for Isaac.

This is the first criterion for a Christian’s choice in marriage; he or she must marry a fellow Christian because our country as believers is heaven. Some believers have disregarded this criterion to their detriment.

Apart from a believer ensuring that whoever he or she wants to get married to is a Christian, it is also crucial to ask God to show him or her the right person among His numerous children.

Some Christian ladies have been carried away by a suitor’s charisma, so they didn’t ask God if he was a suitable spouse for them or not.

Likewise, some Christian men have allowed a lady’s commitment in church to blind them to what God is saying about her character.

When it comes to the issue of marriage, a believer cannot afford to be carried away by external things and miss the Holy Spirit’s direction.

If you are still single, I pray that you will allow the Lord, and not your emotions, physical preferences, or human calculations, to guide you in your choice of a marriage partner, in Jesus’ name.

Where to live is another crucial decision that requires spiritual discernment.

In Genesis 13: 10-13, Lot didn’t inquire from God before choosing to pitch his tent towards S***m.

He found himself in the midst of sinners and wicked people, and eventually, he lost his home when God destroyed S***m and Gomorrah because of the sins of their inhabitants.

Only spiritually discerning people will know whether God wants them to relocate or not, and where to relocate to.

Beloved, don’t make critical life decisions based solely on your judgment and understanding. Seek God’s counsel and remain spiritually discerning to know what He wants you to do.

PRAYER POINT:
Lord, please help me not to be insensitive to Your guidance.

BIBLE TEXT: ISAIAH 61: 1-4

MEMORY VERSE
Acts 10:38 - How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. NKJV

INTRODUCTION
Jesus is the Christ 'Anointed' of God. The anointing of God in a person's life is the Holy Spirit presence and power of God in the life of a person. The anointing of God is a seal of God upon His children, a precious gift to the saved (born again) saints of God.

OBJECTIVES
The saved person should know that he has God's anointing upon his life to enable him please God and witness Christ with power.

The unsaved person does not have the presence and power of God in his life, but can repent and choose to surrender his life unto God and receive the salvation, which is by grace found only in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

MAIN TRUTH
God's anointing is available to every child of God to enable him to walk a fulfilled and purposeful life that glorifies the kingdom of God.

OBSERVATION OF TEXT
Prophet Isaiah prophetic word was of the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ. Saying the Spirit of the Lord was upon Him, Jesus, because He is the Anointed One. This anointing was for the preaching of good tidings to the poor (poor in spirit, the spiritually bankrupt), to heal broken hearts, the sick bodies of people; to proclaim liberty, freedom to the captives; to open prison doors and set those bound free. The Spirit anointing was also to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of God's vengeance.

Among others the anointing is for the comfort and consolation of those who are mourning, giving them beauty for their ashes, oil of joy and the spirit of praise for heaviness of hearts. These then will become trees of righteousness, to glorify God, rebuild ruined cities, through the raising up of former desolation of many generations.

INTERPRETATION
God's presence and power in the Christian's life enables him to walk the supernatural life of God and do the supernatural by the Holy Spirit. God anointed Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit and power, and He went about doing good and healing the sick (Luke 4: 18-19; Acts 10:38).

By the anointing, Apostle Peter preached, and 3000 souls were saved in one day, and his shadow became a healing, and deliverance means for many (Acts 2:41; 5: 12-15). Apostle Paul was so anointed that aprons and handkerchief from his body healed many and sent demons away (Acts 19:11, 12).

You can also be anointed:

1. Have a genuine salvation in Christ Jesus (John 3: 3-7).

2. Decide to consecrate your life unto God in holiness, for sin will rob you of God's presence and power. Remember prophet Samson who was toiling with God's anointing upon his life and Delilah got him shaved and his eyes plucked out and he became a clown instead (Judges 16: 17-21).

3. Live humbly before man and God. God hates a prideful person but gives grace to the humble. Jesus is our highest level of humility (Philippians 2: 9-11); Moses was the meekest man on earth after Jesus (Numbers 12:3).

4. Listen and hear from God every day to keep your anointing fresh, the anointing of yesterday will not help you much for today's assignment (Ecclesiastes 10:1; 2 Samuel 23: 1-2; Psalm 89: 20-29).

5. The journey to successful anointing involves perseverance through difficulties and challenging times, waiting on God with prayers and fasting (Matthew 17:21).

By the anointing, you can break yokes and set captives free (Isaiah 10:27). Anointing gives supernatural strength and ability as with Samson who could lift a city gate on his shoulder and kill 1000 men with an ass jaw, Judges 15:15; 16:3).

The anointing of the Holy Spirit endows one with supernatural wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel and might (Isaiah 11:2) and turns your wilderness life into a fruitful field and forest. making you fruitful and blessed (Isaiah 32:15).

The anointing lifts persons from grief to joy, peace and righteousness in the Holy Ghost. But you must stay connected to the source of life, Jesus Christ for His daily presence and power. Anointing level can be increased as you stay in fellowship and the word, Elisha asked for double portion. You can ask for anointing without measure from the source, (John 3:34).

QUESTIONS
What does anointing mean? Who is the baptizer in the Holy Spirit? Matthew 3:11; Luke 24:49.

CONCLUSION
God's anointing is His presence, power and Holy Ghost upon a Christian's life.

APPLICATION
I have God's anointing upon my life as a child of God.

PRAYER
Pray to receive God's anointing today with increasing measures. Luke 11:13

DATE: SATURDAY 23RD MAY 2026
TOPIC: YOU ARE BORN OF GOD
BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 1: 12-13
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

GOLDEN VERSE:
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the authority to become children of God" JOHN 1:12

EXPOSITORY:
To be born spiritually, it is brought about by God, and not by man. It involves believing and receiving God's gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. The ministry of our Lord Jesus is the ministry of life through the Spirit. So when we are talking about being born of God, it is a spiritual birth from God, not a physical birth that depends on human nature. Verse 12 contains important words for those who receive Christ. He gave, to those who opened their life to Him; the free gift of redemption. Salvation is by grace alone. It is a free gift and never a human achievement.

One of the proofs that we are born of God is that you receive the ability to resist sin (1 John 3: 8-9). Sin no longer has the forceful control over your lives like it did before you accepted Jesus as the Lord of your lives. The power and control of sin was broken and shattered on the Cross.

"Children of God" means we become partakers of the Divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). When you receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and make Him the Lord of your lives you are born again and become a member of God's family. The gift, the privilege and the birth are for those who receive Jesus Christ into their lives.

This is a supernatural spiritual birth. No person can earn it and no person deserves it. It is not of blood, as with physical birth, it is a spiritual birth. It is not by the will of the flesh, it is only by we being born of the Spirit and accepting what Jesus did on the Cross.

Every man or woman is first born of its natural physical parents, however to become a child of God has to give you a supernatural birth by His Holy Spirit when you accept His invitation to whosoever. This is a process called rebirth or regeneration or born again. Jesus said to Nicodemus, you must be born again. John 3: 6-7 - That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' NKJV

Be assured, and comforted, that God wants you to know Him, He wants you to receive Christ, be spiritually born and be a part of His family. The invitation to be born again is still open. Jesus said: "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me" (Revelation 3:20). Jesus gave His life for us so that we could have His life in us and be His children.

PRAYER:
Oh Lord, help me receive your free gift of sonship available in your son Jesus Christ today. Amen.

19 And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.

20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him.

21 But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.

MESSAGE:
There was once a young man who was the secretary of a cult group at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in South-West Nigeria. One day, he gave his life to Christ and decided to leave the cult. Immediately, the other cult members decided to kill him because he knew their secrets.

One night, after arriving in his hostel from the library, he was very tired, so he said a quick prayer and got on his bed to sleep. As he lay on his bed, the Holy Spirit nudged him to get up and pray. He got on his knees, said another short prayer, and tried to sleep again. However, he got another nudge to pray, and he just thought to himself, “Well, let me pray just as God wants.” He did so, and as he got up from his knees, he saw a huge demon with charms all over its body walk into his room, even though the door was locked.

The demon made its way towards him, and he immediately started rebuking it in Jesus’ name. Slowly, the demon retreated from the room.

When he told me about the incident, I asked him, “Are you sure you weren’t dreaming?” He replied, “I’d have thought I was dreaming too; however, because of how I shouted when rebuking the demon, my roommate moved on his bed, and as he did so, his leg touched the demon as it retreated. My roommate’s leg, which touched the demon, swelled to three times its normal size, and he spent a year treating it.” Being spiritually discerning can be the difference between life and death.

As we read in Balaam’s story yesterday, disobedience to God’s instructions can prevent a Christian from discerning spiritual things. Are there instructions the Lord has given you to follow? Don’t try to negotiate your way out of complete obedience to Him. Always obey God’s instructions, because it will make your heart more sensitive to hearing Him.

Toying with sin will make a believer become spiritually dull. Samson didn’t know when his hair was cut because sin had made him spiritually dull. He was fast asleep and didn’t know that he was in trouble until Delilah woke him up. When he awoke, he wanted to fight the Philistines as he had always done, but he was unaware that God had left him.

Beloved, flee disobedience and sin so that you will remain spiritually discerning. May you not become spiritually insensitive and sleep the sleep of death, in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please help me to obey You at all times so I never become spiritually insensitive

1 When we walk with the Lord,
In the light of His Word,

While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey,

To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

2 But we never can prove,
The delights of his love,
Until all on the altar we lay;
Ror the favor he shows,
For the joy he bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

3 Then in fellowship sweet,
We will sit at his feet,
Or we’ll walk by his side in the way;

Where he sends we will go;

BIBLE TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 11: 1-3
1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

GOLDEN VERSE:
"Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ." 1 CORINTHIANS 11:1

EXPOSITORY:
The title of a song says "I want to be like Jesus..." What are those things you have or do that is different from Christ's ways, and what are those things that make you look like or not look like Him? Christ's standard has not changed, it remained the same. It may look as if no one can be like Jesus, in His perfection, holy living and righteousness but the truth is; the only way we can be with Him in eternity is to be like Him now. Is it possible? Yes, how can you then be like Him? Jesus said "the things I do, more will you do. God desires that we be like HIM; I know He will be delighted if you are like Him and follow the pattern of life which He has charted for you to follow. The disciples were first called Christians i.e. Christ-like because of how they lived (Acts 11:26).

What are these qualities that make one to be like Jesus? These include - humility, forgiveness, love, obedience to the father, compassionate, gentleness, intercessor, not easily angered, sacrificial, passionate about kingdom business and so on. Paul affirmed that imitating Him is tantamount to imitating Christ because he received a complete life of Christ and has learnt overtime how to transmit this life to others. How easy is it for someone to tell another to follow his example? Can you be imitated as a follower of Christ?

You become like Him as you look unto Him and follow in His foot steps.

1 John 3:2 - We shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. NKJV

1 Peter 2:21 - For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: NKJV. How are you holding on to all the teachings you have received from God's word?

Paul further explained the propriety in worship giving the hierarchy of spiritual leadership - the head of every man is Christ, the head of the woman is the man and the head of Christ is God. Imbibing the character of Jesus entails having and developing a healthy relationship with Him. You cannot learn about Jesus without first knowing Him, a constant fellowship builds you to the standard of God as co-heirs with Christ.

You are called to follow and imitate Christ in those you are following (1 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5: 1-2). You are to let Christ live in you, as you live the Crucified life of Christ here on earth by faith (Galatians 2:20). So talk like Jesus, walk like Jesus and do everything like Jesus.

PRAYER:
O Lord, help me to be like You and remain steadfast in You forever in Jesus's Christ Name. Amen.
