GOD DOES NOT RECOGNISE EASTER
Femi Aribisala

Easter is a pagan festival surreptitiously merged with Christianity.

Easter is not one of God’s holy days. The word Easter is not even scriptural; it does not exist in true translations of the bible. Easter was smuggled into the King James Bible in Acts 12:4, where it was substituted for the original word “Passover.”

“When (Herod) had apprehended (Peter), he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.”

The word Easter only appears in the King James Version of the English Bible translations. It does not exist in any other English translation. Even the King James Version was forced to remove it from its revised version, known as the New King James Version.

Queen of Heaven

Most Christians are unaware that Easter is a pagan festival surreptitiously merged with Christianity. Noah’s grandson, Cush, married a woman called Ashtoreth. (She is also called Semiramis.) In some cultures, Ashtoreth is called Ishtar, which is transliterated in English as Easter.

Ashtoreth made herself “the Queen of Heaven,” the goddess of fertility, and became an object of worship. This idol worship of Ashtoreth, later camouflaged in Christendom as Easter, is specifically forbidden in the scriptures.

God says:

“The women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven; and they pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke me to anger. Do they provoke Me to anger? Do they not provoke themselves, to the shame of their own faces? Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, My anger and My fury will be poured out on this place.” (Jeremiah 7:17-20).

God punished Israel for succumbing to the worship of Ashtoreth (Ishtar):

“They forsook the LORD and served Baal and the Ashtoreths. And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel. So, He delivered them into the hands of plunderers who despoiled them.” (Judges 2:13-14).

Accordingly, Samuel counselled Israel to forsake Ashtoreth (Ishtar) worship:

“Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, ‘If you return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve him only; and he will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.” (1 Samuel 7:3).

Sun worship

Cush and Ashtoreth gave birth to a son called Ni**od. After Cush's death, Ni**od married Ashtoreth; his mother and became a powerful king of ancient Babylon. When Ni**od was also killed, Ashtoreth deified him as a sun god or life-giver. Indeed, Easter means "movement towards the rising sun." It pertains to the religious rites of people who worship the sun and the signs of the heavens.

Sun worship is expressly forbidden in the scriptures. Ezekiel says:

“I was then led into the temple's inner courtyard, where I saw about twenty-five men standing near the entrance, between the porch and the altar. Their backs were to the LORD’s temple, and they were bowing down to the rising sun. God said, ‘Ezekiel, it's bad enough that the people of Judah are doing these disgusting things.’” (Ezekiel 8:16-17).

Nevertheless, following this pagan tradition, “Sunrise Services” are conducted on Easter Sunday mornings in many Christian denominations.

Hot crossed buns

In Western Europe, it is traditional to eat hot-crossed buns on Easter Sunday morning. This is where we get the limerick: “Hot crossed buns; hot crossed buns. One a-penny, two a-penny, hot crossed buns.”

These small, sweet buns are usually decorated with solar crosses of white icing. They were consecrated in ancient Greece to the goddess of the sunrise. In ancient Babylon, the buns were offered to the Queen of Heaven, the goddess of Easter.

Pagan Lent

After the death of Ni**od, Ashtoreth (Ishtar) gave birth to Tammuz, a son she claimed was Ni**od reborn. When a wild boar killed Tammuz, Ashtoreth instituted an annual ritual of 40 days of mourning for Baal worshippers, during which no meat was allowed to be eaten. This pagan tradition of “weeping for Tammuz” is specifically proscribed in the scriptures.

God said to Ezekiel:

“Turn again, and you will see greater abominations that they are doing.” So, He brought me to the door of the north gate of the LORD'S house; and to my dismay, women were sitting there weeping for Tammuz.” (Ezekiel 8:13-14).

Nevertheless, weeping for Tammuz has been absorbed into Christianity by the institution of
Lent: 40 days of fasting and prayer observed in some Christian denominations as a prelude to Easter. Just like Easter, Lent is not scriptural. Neither the word nor the custom exists in the bible.

Lent starts, according to Christian tradition, on Ash Wednesday, which is also pagan. The ashes were said to be the seed of the Indian fire god, Agni, deemed to have the power to forgive sins.

Easter egg

Because of their prolific reproductive nature, rabbits were associated with Ishtar, the goddess of fertility. This is where Christians borrowed the Easter bunny tradition. Ancient Babylonians believed an egg fell into the Euphrates River from the moon. Queen Ishtar was apparently "hatched" from this egg. This moon egg was called Ishtar’s egg, which became, in Christendom, the Easter egg.

Shifting date

Have you noticed that your birthday falls on different days from year to year? So how come the celebration of Easter always falls on Friday and Sunday? Moreover, unlike your birthday, the date for Easter changes from year to year. Sometimes it is in March, sometimes in April.

Easter moves from year to year because the date has nothing to do with the death and resurrection of Jesus but with the changing cycles of the moon. Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first Vernal Equinox full moon, which is consecrated by pagans as Ishtar’s Sunday.

This signifies the astronomical arrival of spring. The pagan belief is that the sun dies in winter (Christmas) and is reborn in spring (Easter), when some countries move back their clock by one hour for daylight saving time.

Good Saturday

Good Friday is also a misnomer. Jesus was not crucified on a Friday. The week in which he was crucified contained two Sabbaths and He was crucified on a Wednesday. The following Thursday was a high Sabbath day; the first day of unleavened bread.

Jesus did not resurrect on a Sunday. He resurrected on a Saturday, which was a regular weekly Sabbath day different from the high Sabbath of the preceding Thursday. Mary Magdalene discovered the empty tomb on Sunday morning, while it was still dark.

Christians should realise that from Friday evening to Sunday morning does not constitute three days and three nights in the grave, but one day and two nights.

The decision to change the day of the resurrection to Sunday was simply a continuation of the Babylonian tradition. Ni**od was ostensibly resurrected on a Sunday; a day devoted to worshipping the sun. By AD 321, Constantine established Sunday as part of the official state religion, and the Sabbath was statutorily changed from Saturday to Sunday.

Christians should desist from celebrating Easter:

“Thus says the LORD: ‘Learn not the way of the nations, nor be dismayed at the signs of the heavens because the nations are dismayed at them, for the customs of the peoples are vanity.’” (Jeremiah 10:2-3).

CHOICE OF ABUNDANT LIFE (2)
Femi Aribisala

The man with Jesus’ abundant life no longer fears mosquitoes.

Moses chose the abundant life of Christ. The writer of Hebrews says:

“By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.” (Hebrews 11:24-26).

When God asked Moses to lead Israel to the Promised Land, Moses also offered Israel the abundant life of Jesus. He said:

“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19:20).

However, Israel chose death because death included the devil’s abundant life.

The abundant life of Christ implied sometimes going without food and water. For them, it meant having manna instead of natural food every day. But they rejected this. They wanted the abundant life of Egypt:

“They were not deprived of their craving; but while their food was still in their mouths, the wrath of God came against them, and slew the stoutest of them, and struck down the choice men of Israel. (Psalm 78:30-31).

Paul understood this. He says:

“I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things, I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:11-13).

But the Israelites would have none of this. They murmured and grumbled and grieved the Holy Spirit.

Jesus’ abundant lie

To receive the abundant life that Jesus offers, we have to relinquish the life we have. Jesus says:

“Whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:25-27).

But the devil holds a contrary position. He insists that men will never willingly give up the deceitful and vainglorious, abundant life that he gives, as the ruler of this world. He tells God that, instead:

“Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.” (Job 2:4).

Rich Young ruler

A rich young ruler confirms the devil’s prognosis. When he comes to Jesus, asking for eternal life, Jesus says to him:

“One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.” (Mark 10:21).

The man went away sorrowful because he had many resources and was loath to give them up.

What was lacking in this rich man?

He lacked poverty, a critical ingredient in Jesus’ kingdom.

Jesus says:

“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” (Matthew 19:24).

Paul concurs:

“She who lives in pleasure is dead while she lives.” (1 Timothy 5:6).

Salvation from life

Jesus’ salvation is peculiar. It is not what men presume it to be. When Jesus met a man who had been sick for 38 years, He asked him if he would like to be made whole. I thought this was strange. Why would Jesus ask a man sick for 38 years if he would like to be healed?

The Lord said to me. “I asked him because sickness was his life. He does not know what it means to be healed. To save him, I have to deliver him from the life he knows, which is a life of sickness.”

Jesus does not merely save from death. First and foremost, He saves from life. Therefore, He kills before He makes alive. This is His word of promise:

“I, even I, am He, and there is no God besides Me; I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal.” (Deuteronomy 32:39).

Prosperity gospel to the rescue

But our pastors have the answer to this divine conundrum. They present Jesus’ abundant life as the same as the devil’s abundant life. They call this “The Prosperity Gospel.” Their churches become casinos where people come to double their money. You give them your money, and they claim Jesus will give a hundredfold return.

They even twist the word of Jesus. He says:

“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33).

They change it to “Every other thing will be added to you.” This is false! Jesus only promises to add food and clothing. Paul says:

“Having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.” (1 Timothy 6:8).

Juxtaposition

The abundant life of men includes sickness. The abundant life of Jesus heals sicknesses. The abundant life of men is temporal. Jesus’ abundant life is eternal. The abundant life of men ends in death. The abundant life of Christ ends in eternal life. The abundant life of men is rich in worthlessness. The abundant life of Christ is rich in excellent things. The abundant life of men is poor towards God. The abundant life of Christ is rich towards God.

In Jesus’ kingdom, the poor are poor in money but can easily be rich in faith. James says:

“Listen, my beloved brethren: has God not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?” (James 2:5).

But it is difficult for those rich in money to be rich in faith. If you have money, you do not need faith. You do not need to rely on God for anything because, as far as you are concerned:

“Money answers everything.” (Ecclesiastes 10:19).

So, the rich man has riches, but the poor man has faith. When you ask a rich man for anything, all he can give you is money. But when you ask the poor, Christ is his portion and possession.

A beggar at the Beautiful Gate asked Peter for money. It was not as if Peter had no money in his pocket. But he does not count money as his possession. The person with Christ’s abundant life is not abundant in money. He is abundant in God.

David says to God:

“You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.” (Psalm 142:5).

Jeremiah says likewise:

“‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul.” (Lamentation 3:24).

God validates this:

“The Lord said to Aaron: ‘You shall have no inheritance in their land, nor shall you have any portion among them; I am your portion and your inheritance among the children of Israel.’” (Numbers 18:20).

Therefore, Peter did not give the beggar any money. Instead, he gives him Jesus Christ, his portion. He says:

“Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk." And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them — walking, leaping, and praising God.” (Acts 3:6-8).

That is the abundant life. The rich can only give money. But the poor can give life in the name of Jesus. He can give compassion, mercy, goodness, all the righteous things that are in short supply in this world.

Riches of faith

Faith is a blessing. Money is not. Solomon says:

“The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.” (Proverbs 10:22).

Faith in God gets you the abundant life. Money does not. Money adds sorrow because it does not last:

“Riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away like an eagle toward heaven.” (Proverbs 23:5).

The resurrection and the life

The abundant life showed up in my ministry, Healing Wings, at its very beginning. We were in the middle of a fellowship when a woman ran out. Minutes later, someone called out my wife, Sister Mope, and another lady. They also rushed out.

After another thirty minutes, someone interrupted my preaching with terrible news. She said, “The lady had an asthma attack. I am afraid she is dead. We have tried to revive her, but to no avail.”

“Dead?” What kind of embarrassment is this? How can someone die in the middle of a service?

I rushed to the next room and found the lady lying prostrate on the floor. I knelt beside her and started to pray. I prayed all manner of prayers for a long time, but nothing happened. Then I turned to the Lord in my heart. I cried out to him in my weakness and poverty. I told Him I did not know what else to pray. I did not know what other scriptures to invoke.

Suddenly, the Lord, whose strength is made perfect in weakness, spoke to me. He said, “Femi, pray in tongues.” This was the tongue that I used to destroy so many demons in my flat.

My faith was strengthened knowing Jesus was with me. I prayed energetically in tongues.

Suddenly, the lady sneezed out of nowhere. Then she opened her eyes. Then she sat up. And the whole room collapsed with joy.

We went back to the fellowship room, dancing and praising God. But the lady sat on a chair watching us. Then the Lord spoke to me again, “Tell her to join you in the dance.”

Suddenly, this woman whom we had given up for the dead got up and danced with us. And our cup overflowed with joy.

Jesus says:

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26).

Yes, we believe.

The abundant life arrived in Healing Wings that day.

Abundant life of Lazarus

Jesus took the life of Lazarus, and Lazarus died. He then raised him to newness of life. Lazarus is the classic example of a man who experienced the power of resurrection.

So, we can see the peculiar distinction of the man who has Jesus’ abundant life. He has eternal life. He has the God who heals him of sicknesses and diseases. He no longer fears mosquitoes. He is not afraid of armed robbers. He has the peace that surpasses all understanding. He has joy unspeakable and full of glory. He basks in the sunshine of the love of God. He has all things that pertain to life and godliness. He has the hope of righteousness. All things work together for his good. No weapon fashioned against him can prosper. His faith overcomes the world. He knows that what the enemy means for evil, God means for good.

He dwells in the secret place of the Most High. For in God’s presence is fullness of joy, at His right hand are pleasures forevermore.

THE CHOICE OF ABUNDANT LIFE (1)
Femi Aribisala

The devil also gives abundant life

I was at a service of songs, and a man preached a rousing message about going to heaven. Then he said, “You will not have to pay any rent in heaven.”

I was amused by this initially. But the more I thought about it, I realised how dangerous this statement is. In the bid to popularise heaven, this man decided to present heaven carnally. He recreated heaven in the desire of men. He fashioned heaven according to the carnality and vainglories of men.

And so men should desire heaven, not because they want to worship and fellowship with God, but because they want to escape from the demands of the landlord. Well then, there is no rent paid in hell either, so men should go there also.

Abundant life

“(Jesus) spoke a parable saying: "The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully. And he thought within himself, saying, 'What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?' So he said, 'I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry."' But God said to him, 'Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?' "So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” (Luke 12:16-21).

Jesus says:

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10).

Devilish abundant life

Before Jesus came, the thief had visited us. He came to steal, kill, and destroy. But he kills, steals, and destroys with finesse. He does this by giving us a gift. He gives us his own version of the abundant life.

Then Jesus came to give us the abundant life. But, to our disappointment, the life Jesus gives is not the life we want. We want the life the world gives, which is the life the devil gives.

But John warns:

“All that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” (1 John 2:16-17).

This abundant life the devil gives is the life of the rich. This life is counterfeit. A man spends all his life working, earning a living, providing for himself and his family, and forgets about God.

Solomon asks:

“For what has man for all his labour, and for the striving of his heart with which he has toiled under the sun? For all his days are sorrowful, and his work burdensome; even in the night his heart takes no rest. This also is vanity.” (Ecclesiastes 2:22-23).

The devil gives deceitful riches. He gives houses, lands, fame, and fortune. Yes, he gives the abundant life. But he gives all this using one instrument: sin. The worship of idols and demons.

Most of the big positions in Nigeria are covenanted to idols. They are reserved for those who have made a covenant with the devil. They make a covenant with death, which promised them an abundant life. And the devil delivers it. They have wealth, houses, fame, and fortune. What they do not know is that their abundant life is a life of sin and death.

I invited my granddaughter to lunch. She spent the time taking pictures and posting them on social media. The devil is devious. He created social media so that men would seek the approval of men. But the approval of men is a waste of time. What matters is God’s approval.

Devilish counsel

When we think of the abundant life, we automatically think of the life lived by rich men. Their lives display abundance and extravagance. They are abundant in houses, in wealth, in property. The deceitfulness of riches enthrals them. What they fail to realise is that the lovingkindness of God is better than life. (Psalm 63:3).

We must always remember that the ways of God are counterfactual. They are different from the ways of men. If God says something is white, thanks to the devil, men will consider it to be black. Therefore, the abundant life of God can never be the abundant life of men.

Men had life before Jesus came. They had riches, property, fame, and fortune. So, Jesus could not have come from heaven to give us the life we already had. He must have come to give us the life we did not have.

Jesus’ abundant life

In Jesus’ abundant life:

“One's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” (Luke 12:15).

Clearly, Jesus’ abundant life is not what many Christians presume it to be. Everything about the kingdom of God is counterintuitive. Everything about the kingdom of God is diametrically opposite to what occurs in the kingdoms of men.

In the kingdom of God, the rich are poor, and the poor are rich. Jesus’ abundant life glorifies the life of the poor. The first becomes last, and the last becomes first.

Jesus says:

“Blessed are you poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.” (Luke 6:20-21).

“But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation. Woe to you who are full, for you shall hunger. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep.” (Luke 6:24-25).

James also amplifies this:

“Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you! Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days. Indeed, the wages of the labourers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. You have lived on the earth in pleasure and luxury; you have fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter. You have condemned, you have murdered the just; he does not resist you.” (James 5:1-6).

Solomon concurs:

“Do not overwork to be rich, because of your own understanding, cease! Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away like an eagle toward heaven.” (Proverbs 23:4-5).

Life of Jesus

What kind of life did Jesus Himself live?

Once we ask this question, the contradiction to popular thinking becomes apparent. Jesus did not have many of those things we normally attribute to the good life. He was born in a manger. He grew up as the lowly carpenter’s son. He had no formal schooling or education. He had neither chariots nor horses. He had no land or houses. He did not have a wife. He had no children.

When a certain man volunteered to be His disciple, Jesus warned him that they would not be staying at the Sheraton Hotel:

“Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” (Matthew 8:20).

THE COUNTERFEIT LIFE
Femi Aribisala

The robber broke into the bank, but all he stole was counterfeit money.

Imagine a situation in which you won big in the lottery. It amounted to tens of billions of dollars. The rich and the hoi polloi came to celebrate with you. But when the money was paid, it turned out to be fake. You were paid with counterfeit money. How would you feel?

Or you got a big job in a high-flying company. You were convinced that you were finally set for life. But when you were paid at the end of the month, you received counterfeit money. How would you react?

Nobody likes counterfeit money. It might look like the original, but it is fake. If you try to use it to buy something, it is readily rejected. Nobody likes counterfeits. Everyone prefers the originals. We only ended up with the counterfeit because we did not know it was counterfeit.

Counterfeits are getting better and better. But no matter how much like the original a counterfeit can be, it is still a counterfeit. The original is the real McCoy.

Counterfactual Wisdom

Trust the Bible to confound our intellect. Trust God to dazzle us with the counterfactual. God reveals that men prefer the counterfeit life to the real life.

God gave men a choice between the original and the counterfeit. Guess what happened? We preferred the counterfeit. What was our problem? We did not know the original. We thought the counterfeit was the original.

The devil asked Eve: “‘Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?’ And the woman said to the serpent, ‘We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ Then the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:1-5).

Stealing the Counterfeit

The robber entered the bank in the dead of night. But all he stole was counterfeit money.

Eve wanted eternal life. But she already had it. The devil fooled her into trading the original for the counterfeit. She decided to steal the counterfeit, not knowing she already had the original.

Moses said to Israel: “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19).

Moses said to choose between the life that leads to life and the life that leads to death. But make sure you choose the one that leads to life, so that both you and your descendants may live. However, the Israelites chose death. They thought death was life.

Choosing Counterfeits

So, why are we sold on the counterfeit life? Why do we prefer the counterfeit life to the original life? The counterfeit is a shiny object. It is glamorous. It is vainglorious. It appeals to the sinful flesh. It is advertised everywhere at the instance of the prince of the power of the air.

It is the life of the rich and the powerful. It is showcased by millionaires and billionaires. It is the pride of the pop stars, the rock stars, and the movie stars. It is extolled by presidents, senators, and politicians. It is the boast of the mega-pastors in the mega-churches.

It entails living in big mansions. Driving fast and expensive sports cars. Owning airplanes and jet-setting all over the world. Wearing expensive designer clothes. Sporting luxurious jewelry and watches. Going to parties and spraying money. Hosting extravagant events for those of timbre and calibre. Having many wives and mistresses.

The chief exponent of this ostentatious lifestyle in the scriptures is Solomon, and his verdict is that it amounts to nothing:

“I made my works great, I built myself houses, and planted myself vineyards. I made myself gardens and orchards, and I planted all kinds of fruit trees in them. I made myself water pools from which to water the growing trees of the grove. I acquired male and female servants, and had servants born in my house. Yes, I had greater possessions of herds and flocks than all who were in Jerusalem before me. I also gathered for myself silver and gold and the special treasures of kings and of the provinces. Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done and on the labour in which I had toiled; and indeed, all was vanity and grasping for the wind.” (Ecclesiastes 2:4-8/11).

Spirit and Truth

Those who live the true life do not worship God on the mountains of Kilimanjaro. They do not build cathedrals with supermarkets and helipads. They do not drive around in a cortege of cars and cruise about in private jets in the name of evangelism. They do not worship God on street corners. Neither do they worship God outwardly to the praise of men. They worship God in their heart of hearts.

Paul describes them like this: “We are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.” (Philippians 3:3).

These true worshippers do not require praise or spiritual titles from men. They do not ask men to call them Daddy, Pastor, Your Eminence. They seek the approval of God and not the approval of men. They seek the face of God and not His hands. They do not worship God with men’s hands by paying tithes and by giving fat cat offerings. The Lord knows we are His.

Jesus says: “These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honour Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.” (Matthew 15:8-9).

True Life

Those who live the true life do not rejoice in their ships like the Chaldeans. They do not rejoice in their wealth, their houses, their limousines, their pedigrees, or their social statuses. They do not rejoice in their marriages, children, abilities, or even their achievements and successes. They only rejoice in what Jesus has done.

They rejoice in His finished work on the cross. They rejoice in the ransom He paid for us. They rejoice that, because of Jesus, they are now sons of the living God. They rejoice that they have been gifted with eternal life. They rejoice that their names are written in heaven.

They rejoice that they are now: “A chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, (God’s) own special people, that (we) may proclaim the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” (1 Peter 2:9-10).

They only rejoice in Christ Jesus in the knowledge that the glories of this world are all counterfeit. For all the riches of the world cannot redeem even one single soul.
