Here’s a clear, concise summary of the preaching note:

Minister: Rev. P.S. Ogbuefi
Topic: Breaking Barriers Through Obtaining Mercies*
Text: Isaiah 30:18

Summary:

Mercy is God’s compassionate kindness and forgiveness - His divine favor shown instead of judgment. The message highlights how mercy has the power to break barriers in our lives.

Using the story of the woman with the alabaster box (Luke 7:36–50), the sermon shows that mercy is obtained through genuine faith, love, repentance, and humility. Though condemned by society, the woman encountered forgiveness because she approached Jesus with a broken and loving heart.

The sermon outlines seven characteristics of mercy:

1. Being patient with people’s weaknesses
2. Helping those who are hurting
3. Giving others a second chance
4. Doing good even to those who hurt us
5. Showing kindness to those who offend us
6. Building bridges of love to the unpopular
7. Valuing relationships over rules, choosing love over law

Barriers to mercy include disobedience, unbelief, pride, and distractions.

Ways to obtain mercy are by seeking God earnestly, repenting and returning to Him, and trusting in His goodness and perfect timing.

Conclusion:
God’s mercy never fails and remains constant through all ages. Believers are encouraged to receive grace to obtain mercy and trust that God’s mercy will not fail them or their families.

Key Message Summary

God is deep in wisdom and mighty in power; no one can rebel against Him and prosper (Job 9:4). David declared that God is his shield and solid rock, therefore he would not be defeated. This year, you shall not be defeated.

When God intends to remove or replace something, He causes a divine shaking—just as water came out of the rock. God’s purpose for your life cannot be cut short, and any law or obstacle that stands against His plan will not stand.

Some things delay because it is not yet God’s time, but when God’s time comes, everything cooperates for your good. God is omniscient; He knows the heart. Therefore, keep your heart pure before Him, because nothing is hidden in His presence. Sin removes a person from God’s presence—God cannot be deceived.

There is a divine word that changes lives—the Word of God. Whenever you come to church, be more eager to hear God’s Word than to offer sacrifices. As many as are ready to hear God this year, God will bless them.
