*RCCG HOUSE FELLOWSHIP LEADER 'S MANUAL*

*DATE: Sunday, 22nd August 2021 LESSON: 51*

*TOPIC: ARE YOU A SINGLE PARENT? THERE IS HOPE FOR YOU*

OPENING PRAYER: Father, please help all the single parents all over the world.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Give proper account on how a Christian should dress. The leader should ask the members.

TODAY'S LESSON:
A: MEMORY VERSE: "A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in His holy habitation." – Psalm 68:5

B: BIBLE TEXT:
Genesis 21:15-21
15 - And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs.
16 - And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.
17 - And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.
18 - Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.
19 - And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.
20 - And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.
21 - And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran: and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.

C: LESSON INTRODUCTION:
It is the plan of God that both parents should in togetherness nurse their children unto adulthood. However, there are some circumstances both within or beyond their control that may crop up and render either of them a single parent. And these are death, divorce and out-of-wedlock pregnancy.

LEADERS DIARY:
A: LESSON AIM: To encourage every single parent not to give up on their responsibilities knowing fully well that God is with them, especially those who are in Christ.

B: TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to:
i. Not to give up their responsibilities as single parents.
ii. Always look up to God for their help.

C: TEXT REVIEW: Genesis 21:15-21
i. When the water that Hagar had for Ishmael, her son, got finished
ii. She cried, God sent an angel to her and opened her eyes to see the hidden well that was around her.
iii. She fetched it and gave her son to drink and live.

LESSON OUTLINES: There is one outline:

A: SINGLE PARENTS WHO WERE HELPED BY GOD:
HAGAR: Today's bible text explains how Hagar was pushed out with her son by Abraham. But God came to their aid and the seemingly ugly situation became a pleasant one. - Genesis 21:17-19

THE WIDOW OF ONE OF THE SONS OF THE PROPHETS: 2 Kings 4:1-7 - The Lord helped this widow where the creditor came to take her two sons for slavery.

THE WIDOW OF ZAREPHATH: God, through Prophet Elijah did not allow death and hunger to sn**ch away the son of the widow. - 1 Kings 17:10-23

THE WIDOW OF NAIN: Luke 7:11-15 - Jesus Christ raised the only son of the widow of Nain from death.
Also it is still not the end of life for those out-of-wedlock pregnant ladies. Just repent of your sin and accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. He can turn the situation around for good. Abortion is not an option as it will further compound your sin before God.

ACTIVITY: Is God interested in helping the single parents?

SUMMARY: God is the rewarder!

CONCLUSION: Single parenthood is not the end of the road, brace up and hope in God and He will turn the situation around in your favour. Look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. - Hebrews 12:2

1. Father, thank You for this deeper truth.

THIS IS THE HISTORY.....In 1998 over 7million people gathered to receive *_DIVINE VISITATION_* at Lekki beach, the visitation brought *_VICTORY AT LAST_* in 1999. I was not baffled then in 2000 when we started experiencing *_OPEN HEAVENS,_* and you know when heavens open what usually follows would be *_WIND OF CHANGE_* which happened in 2001. After a great wind of change then God decided to outpour *_SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS_* in 2002, which made multitude to sing *_A NEW SONG_* in 2003. It did not stop there. In 2004, many were given *_THE MASTER KEY_*, which led to *_UNLIMITED BREAKTHROUGH_* in 2005, followed by the experience of *_HEAVEN ON EARTH_* in 2006. People kept on moving to *_THE NEXT LEVEL_* in 2007. *_JOY UNSPEAKABLE_* in 2008 made us sing *_OUR GOD REIGNS_* in 2009, God was pleased with that and told us *_ALL WILL BE WELL_* in 2010, then *_A NEW THING_* started happening in 2011, *_SIGNS AND WONDERS_* followed in 2012, *_THE OVERFLOW_* in 2013, we went to thank *_THE GREAT SHEPHERD_* in 2014 Who promised us loads of Joy, and he decided to open *_THE FLOOD GATES OF HEAVEN_* in 2015. Now we are going to experience a *_COMPLETE RESTORATION_*.
At least if you've been missing all these encounters since 1998 it is not too late now. DO NOT MISS THIS !!!

Focused and not distracted

"When I saw their fear, I rose and spoke.' Do not be afraid of them; remember the LORD who is great and awesome, and fight .' When our enemies heard that it was known to us, and that GOD had frustrated their plan, then all of us returned to the wall, each one to his work."
(Nehemiah 4:14-15 NASB)

GOD'S people in Jerusalem had become distracted. Intimated by the taunts and threats of their adversaries, they had become confused. In this environment of fear, Nehemiah led them in a strategy that was both spiritual and practical.

First, they prayed and sought GOD'S help, committing their crisis to HIM. Responding to their prayers, HE gave them the right perspective and strategy. But they didn't stop with a strictly spiritual approach. Part of His guidance was that they set watches that guarded them "day and night."

As they employed this strategy, the plans of their enemies were frustrated. They were able to stay focused and not be distracted by taunts and criticism. Every time they were threatened, they followed a similar pattern. The work went on as they remained vigilant, even having weapons in one hand, while working with the other. And so the wall was completed.

In our lives, we can experience many kinds of attacks and distractions. People may threaten us, question our goals, or taunt us for the things we do or believe. If these things happen, we just need to remember Nehemiah.

In your life, remember the importance of having a clear vision of GOD'S call on your life. What has HE called you to do? What resources has HE given you? Then focus on completing your assignments and being a good steward of HIS resources.

Don't be distracted or intimidated by threats or criticism. Don't be discouraged if you face obstacles. Stay focused and determined, always being faithful, trusting HIM for guidance, protection, and blessing.

Pray like this:- FATHER, give me a clear sense of YOUR calling on my life. Help me to stay focused on serving YOU. I trust in YOU for victory. In JESUS' name. Amen.

Spirit of Expectation

“‘My husband who served you is dead . . . A creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves.’ . . . 'Tell me, what do you have in the house?’ ‘Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,’ she replied. And Elisha said, ‘Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors.’” (2 Kings 4:1-3 NLT)

This poor widow faced insurmountable problems. She had a hard time even meeting the basic necessities of life. Then, a creditor threatened to take her sons as slaves. She doubted and worried. But Elisha knew that GOD could meet those immediate needs but also bless her in more powerful ways. With blessings that would overflow!

He told her to find as many empty jars as she could. Under the circumstances, this might have seemed absurd. These jars were empty, and she had nothing with which to fill them. But Elisha told her to pour the olive oil she had into these jars, “setting the jars aside as they are filled.” They kept pouring and “soon every container was full to the brim!”

This is a picture of the way GOD can bless us. But, to receive HIS abundance, we cannot sit idly by and do nothing but doubt and complain. We need to have faith in HIM. To believe HIM. And we need to take action to show our confidence. We must remember that we reap only what we sow (Galatians 6:7) and that, if we want to reap bountifully, we need to sow bountifully (2 Corinthians 9:6).

Today, do not allow doubt to fill your hearts, or limit what GOD can do for you. HE can pour out streams of blessings! But to receive HIS blessings, you need to sow seeds with the time, talent, and treasure you have been given. As you give to HIM, and have faith, expect HIM to bless you and answer your prayers.

This came up during our Sunday school, how many of us tithe our time? We have 24 (twenty four) hours in a day, do we give GOD up to 1/10 (one tenth) of that time? Yet we always cry that we don't have enough time.

Pray like this:- FATHER, I have faith in YOU and expect YOUR blessings. I believe YOU for an abundant harvest. Help me to sow abundantly with what YOU have given me. In JESUS' name. Amen.
