5. Get On the Good Side of Divine Principles
Laws or principles are events that happen with consistency when certain conditions are present. Newton discovered the law of gravity when he observed that an apple never falls upward but always downward. God designed and built this law into creation, and it is of universal application.
Laws can be used to make predictions about events. Because, all things being equal, that event will occur the same way again and again.
Just as there are natural laws, there are also spiritual laws that govern the moral universe. And as the natural, these spiritual laws are consistent. We must obey them, or there’ll be consequences.
One major spiritual principle we all MUST know and operate to our advantage is the Biblical law of reciprocity, or what we call the principle of sowing and reaping. This is an established principle revealed by God's word. Galatians 6:7 says, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” This is immutable. You cannot sow one thing and reap the opposite.
To help His disciples get on the good side of this law, Jesus had taught them, “And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.” Luke 6:31 NKJV.
Similarly, Paul followed up by admonishing his audience to do the same: “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:9-10.
This shows that we are all sowers and reapers, like it or not. And this truth is as sure as the reality of day and night. It affects the rich just as it impacts the poor.
The smart ones use it to their own advantage, while the foolish neglect it to their peril. It is a law, and none can escape its effect. Mock it or sideline it, your life will answer to its verdict ultimately. As a matter of fact the sum total of your experiences today, success or failure, is the result of the seeds you sowed in the previous years. Your tomorrow is what you make of it with the kind of seeds you sow today. So, put out only good seeds people, lots of it.
Other elements of this law to note includes:
* You are responsible for your harvest. You reap what you sow. So, you can change your harvest by changing what you sow.
* You reap more than you sow. Because, a seed always produces many seeds in return. Even the Bible speaks of some that have sown the wind, that they shall reap the whirlwind (Hosea 8:7). So, whatever you sow, you reap a harvest of it, in abundance.
* You are always sowing something. It may be a word, an action, a thought, an imagination - all are seeds. The Bible calls injustice a seed, and says those who sow it will reap calamity”. Proverbs 22:8 ESV.
* We reap later than we sow. It may take a while. But you'll definitely reap what you sow.
* We reap until we have harvested what we have sowed.
Remember! Regardless of what’s going on in the world right now, you remain the author of your own harvest. You will get out of this year in abundance, exactly what you put into it. I saw this cartoon in one of my office emails, and I thought it illustrated what the Lord laid on my heart here:
