Monday August 24 – Guide me against deceptive Treaty

Then Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said, "Why did you deceive us by saying, 'We live a long way from you,' while actually you live near us? (Josh.9.22)

Discernment is important when it comes to taking a decision on making agreements. Adequate knowledge and understanding are needed in making resolutions on vital matters that affect the future. Joshua was emotional when he saw the Gibeonites. He did not inquire of the Lord what he should do. The treaty he made carelessly with them in the name of the Lord brought troubles to the whole nation in their future generation. Always learn to respond beyond feelings when it comes to making decisions. Be patient enough to ask God for anything. Pray for mercy about the past mistakes.

Thought for Today: Never rush in making any decision. Always be in the Spirit.

O Lord, set Your affection on me. Help me to be more patient. Help me in managing my emotions. Guide me against deceptive treaty in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Sunday August 23 – Help me not to draw back my Hands

For Joshua did not draw back the hand that held out his javelin until he had destroyed all who lived in Ai (Joshu.8.26)

Victory belongs to the one who never gives up. The weary hands have nothing to celebrate. Joshua did not draw back his hands that held weapons in the battlefield. There could be reasons for giving up. The enemies could be persistent, overpowering and strategically weakening the strength of the team members. Challenges could be overwhelming thereby bringing weariness, but Joshua did not give up to them. What challenges are you facing that weary your heart? The downcast heart weakens the hands. Be courageous. Never give up on your goldy pursuit. You will overcome.

Thought for Today: Good endurance ends in celebration.

O Lord, set Your attention on me. Give me victory over discouragement. Let nothing draw me back from my righteous pursuit. Help me not to draw back my hands in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Saturday August 22 – Cut down the Enemies before me

The men of the ambush also came out of the city against them, so that they were caught in the middle, with Israelites on both sides. Israel cut them down, leaving them neither survivors nor fugitives (Josh.8.22)

Israel totally cut down Ai as a sign of total victory. The victory of Ai over Israel was temporal and it was meant to make way for permanent victory of Israel over them. Ai killed thirty-six Israeli soldiers to be temporarily victorious but Israeli army wiped out the entire city of Ai to be permanently victorious. What are you struggling at that seems to be gaining victory over you? It is meant to open your eyes for re-strategizing. Remove from your steps anything corruptible. Be pure in heart and purpose. You will totally cut down the enemies.

Thought for Today: A failure is not the end but for a new strategy.

O Lord, set Your attention on me. Empower me for victorious strategy. Let no failure weaken my strength for better success. Cut down the enemies before me in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Friday August 21 – Turn Your anger away from me

Over Achan they heaped up a large pile of rocks, which remains to this day. Then the Lord turned from his fierce anger. Therefore that place has been called the Valley of Achor ever since (Josh.7.26)

The anger of the Lord is a signal that something is wrong somewhere in our relationship with Him. Persistence in sin provokes God’s anger. We may not know the sin committed but because we dwell among the sinners, we are not free from the share of the punishment. The sin of Achan suffered the entire nation, Israel. The small Ai defeated them in the battle they thought should be stress-free. Do you have secret sins? Confess now for the sake of the innocent who suffer because of you. Pray for mercy. Are you suffering for unknown reasons? Pray for revelation.

Thought for Today: The one who sins knows even if all who bear the consequences may not know.

O Lord, set Your affection on me. Clear me from the punishment of the unknown. Have mercy on me. Expose the reason for which I suffer. Turn Your anger away from me in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Thursday August 20 – Let Your Presence be with me

So the Lord was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout the land (Josh.6.27)

The secret of success in anything good is hidden in God’s presence. His presence carries the revelations of victory, prosperity, and breakthroughs. Joshua was famously victorious over the enemies like the mighty Jericho, Ai, etc. because the Lord was with him. God’s presence brings unlimited and glorious fame. In what do you desire fame? Seek the presence of the Lord first, and your desires will be easily achieved. Never allow anything to take you away from God’s presence.

Thought for Today: God’s presence is the key to attaining all good desires.

O Lord, set Your affection on me. Let nothing take me away from Your presence. Bless me with the joy of Your presence. Let Your presence be with me in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
