Sermon: Essential Doctrines
Minister: Pastor Emmanuel Ojiebun

He said the essence of sound doctrine is to produce disciples. Disciples are made by sound doctrine. God wants us to be in the business of producing disciples. A believer is not just a convert; once you have become a believer, the next step is to know what you have believed. Disciples live by and propagate what they have believed. They are also ready to die for what they have believed.

The Purpose of Doctrine (2 Timothy 3:16); we must understand that doctrine defines the truth ā€” 2 Timothy 1:13. It provides an authoritative framework for what is true.
Doctrine delivers from sin and empowers us to live in righteousness.
Character is a proof of sound doctrine.
Note: Morality without doctrine is nothing.

Also doctrine defends against errors and deception-Ephesians 4:13ā€“14.

Doctrine directs doxology (the glory of God)-Ephesians 1:13ā€“14.
Every doctrine will culminate in doxology.

* Doctrine of the Word (Bibliology)
* Doctrine of God (Theology)
* Anthropology-Doctrine of man and sin
* Doctrine of Christ (Christology)
* Soteriology-Doctrine of salvation
* Pneumatology-Doctrine of the Spirit
* Ecclesiology -Doctrine of the Church
* Eschatology-Doctrine of the return of the King

SOTERIOLOGY
1. Salvation is made possible by the Spirit. A man is saved by faith through grace. Grace is a person. Grace refers to the provision of God in Christ Jesus.

2. Salvation made it possible for God to dwell in us- 1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 6:11. The Holy Ghost living in you is the glorification of believers -Hebrews 10:15ā€“17.

3. Salvation brought complete wholeness. Salvation to the spirit is called forgiveness of sin; to the body, healing.

We learnt that Doctrine means teachings that form beliefs. It encompasses what the Word teaches about a particular subject. Biblical stance and perspectives sum up a doctrine of it. Doctrine determines what is surely believed among us as believers. It forms our convictions and affects our lifestyle because what you believe will be lived out.

He emphasized that our worship of God will never rise above our revelation of Him. This emphasizes the essence of a sound, Bible-believing church. There are essential doctrines you must not touch. If you do, that makes you a heretic.

God designed man to function at his full potential through a relationship with Him. We were created to live with an awareness that there is more than what is visible.

We learnt that God is a Spirit and that He created both the visible and invisible realms. The fourth dimension speaks of the realm of faith, where we connect with what we cannot see and receive from the invisible realm.

Faith gives us the capacity to see beyond present circumstances, but what God reveals must also be acted upon. Through vision, dreams, imagination, and obedience, we can respond to what God is showing us.
May we yield to the leading of the Spirit and refuse to limit God by what we can see.

Prophecy is a vital tool for winning in life. There is a greater realm than the physical. Through prophecies, words are released into the natural.

Prophecies are words of possibilities, and they are given by God to shape our lives. They are inspired utterances from God.

Through prophecies, the course of oneā€™s life can be changed. Hebrews 11:3 confirms that the world was shaped or framed by words. There is a need for contention in the fulfillment of prophecies.

Prophecies are words of power. They are Spirit-inspired. Prophecy is a divinely granted utterance in a known language, whether for you or for others. ā€œLearn to have talking sessions. Talking sessions are sessions where you write and read the Word of God to yourself for your edification, comfort, and exhortation.ā€™ā€™

Prophecies are lifters.

Prophecies are tools for warfare:1 Timothy 1:18. When a prophetic word comes, take the word and wage war with it. Prophetic words bring illumination, direction, and revelation. Prophetic words are to be taken to the place of prayer. When you receive a prophecy, do not go to sleep: Mark 14:34ā€“38. There is a watching and praying to be done with every word received. 1 Kings 18:42.
