HALF-TRUTHS ABOUT JESUS

One of the greatest dangers in Christianity is not always denying Jesus—it is presenting only part of who He is.

A half-truth about Jesus is still dangerous because it creates a false picture of the true Christ.

Many people love the Jesus who heals but ignore the Jesus who calls people to repentance.

Some preach the Jesus who forgives but remain silent about the Jesus who judges.

Others present the Jesus of holiness while forgetting the Jesus of mercy.

The Bible presents neither extreme.

It presents the whole Christ.

In the Old Testament, the coming Messiah was revealed as both Saviour and King.

Isaiah called Him the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), yet the same prophet declared that He would judge the nations in righteousness (Isaiah 11:1–5).

Psalm 23 reveals the Lord as the compassionate Shepherd who leads His people beside still waters.

Yet Psalm 2 declares that God's Anointed King will rule the nations with absolute authority.

The prophets spoke of a Messiah who would bear our griefs and carry our sorrows (Isaiah 53), but they also proclaimed a Messiah who would establish justice throughout the earth.

The Old Testament never separated His love from His holiness.

The New Testament reveals the fulfilment of these promises in Jesus Christ.

He welcomed little children.

He touched lepers.

He fed the hungry.

He forgave sinners.

He healed the broken-hearted.

He raised the dead.

Yet the same Jesus also overturned the tables of those who corrupted God's house.

He rebuked religious hypocrisy.

He warned about hell.

He called people to repentance.

He declared that one day He would return as Judge of all the earth.

When the woman caught in adultery was brought before Him, Jesus did not condemn her.

Neither did He approve of her sin.

He said,

«"Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more." (John 8:11)»

That is not compromise.

That is perfect grace joined with perfect truth.

John summarised Jesus' ministry with these remarkable words:

«"The Word became flesh and dwelt among us... full of grace and truth." (John 1:14)»

Notice that Scripture does not say He was full of grace or truth.

He was full of grace and truth.

Grace without truth becomes compromise.

Truth without grace becomes cruelty.

Jesus demonstrated both perfectly.

The Church must do the same.

Whenever we preach only the blessings of Christ without His call to discipleship, we present only half the truth.

Whenever we preach judgement without mercy, we present only half the truth.

Whenever we proclaim forgiveness without repentance, or holiness without grace, we distort the beauty of the gospel.

The safest way to know Jesus is not through isolated verses, personal opinions, or popular trends.

The safest way is through the whole counsel of Scripture.

The Jesus of Genesis is the Jesus of Revelation.

The Lamb is also the Lion.

The Saviour is also the Judge.

The Shepherd is also the King.

The One who died for sinners is the One before whom every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord.

Do not settle for a Jesus created by culture, tradition, or personal preference.

Know the Jesus revealed by the whole Bible.

Only the whole Christ can bring complete salvation.

POPULARITY DOES NOT PROVE TRUTH

One of the greatest mistakes people make is assuming that if many people believe something, it must be true.

History proves otherwise.

At one time, almost the whole world rejected Noah's message, yet Noah was right.

In the days of Elijah, the majority followed Baal, but the majority was wrong.

When Jesus walked on earth, the religious leaders and many of the crowds rejected Him, yet He remained the Truth.

Truth has never been determined by numbers.

A lie does not become truth because millions believe it.

Likewise, truth does not become false because only a few embrace it.

In our generation, social media followers, crowded auditoriums, viral videos, and public applause are often mistaken for proof that God approves a message. They are not.

Popularity may indicate influence, but it does not guarantee accuracy.

The standard for truth has never changed. It is not public opinion, emotional excitement, celebrity status, or numerical success. The standard is the Word of God.

The Bereans were called noble, not because they believed everything they heard, but because they searched the Scriptures daily to determine whether what they were taught was true (Acts 17:11).

As believers, we must resist the temptation to follow the crowd blindly. Every sermon, prophecy, teaching, tradition, and opinion must be examined in the light of the whole counsel of Scripture.

Do not ask first, "How many people believe it?"

Ask instead, "What does God's Word say?"

Remember:

Popularity may fill a stadium, but only truth transforms lives.

Truth does not need the approval of the majority. It only needs to remain faithful to God.

AFRICA NEEDS CHURCHES THAT VALUE PEOPLE ABOVE STATUS

One of the greatest challenges facing the Church in Africa today is not a lack of churches, but a lack of biblical balance.

Too often, we celebrate status more than service, titles more than character, and appearance more than genuine spirituality.

The Church should be the one place where every person is valued, regardless of educational background, language, tribe, social class, or financial position.

A farmer should feel as welcome as a professor.

A market trader should be honoured as much as a business executive.

A child should be valued as much as an elder.

A minister who preaches powerfully in Yoruba should be respected just as much as one who preaches fluently in English. Language should never become a barrier to ministry or a measure of spiritual worth. If interpretation is needed, let us use interpreters. The gospel is too precious to be limited by language.

God is not impressed by our accents.

He looks at the heart.

Education is valuable.

Knowledge is valuable.

Excellence is valuable.

But none of these determines a person's worth before God.

The ground is level at the foot of the cross.

Jesus welcomed fishermen, tax collectors, scholars, women, children, the poor, the rich, Jews, Gentiles, and those whom society had rejected.

The Church should reflect the same heart.

Let us build churches where people are known for their faithfulness rather than their fame, for their character rather than their connections, and for their love for Christ rather than their social status.

Africa does not need churches that worship personalities.

Africa needs churches that exalt Jesus Christ.

Africa does not need churches that intimidate people because of language or education.

Africa needs churches that value every person created in the image of God.

May the Church become a place where truth is preached, love is demonstrated, humility is honoured, and Jesus Christ alone is glorified.

Humility Is Not Timidity

Humility is not timidity, weakness, or the absence of courage. It is strength under control, expressed through wisdom, self-discipline, and respect for others. A humble person does not need to prove superiority, yet neither do they permit themselves to be treated without dignity.

True humility is never an invitation to exploitation. It calls us to serve without pride, to lead without arrogance, and to relate to others with grace. However, when people attempt to take advantage of your humility, wisdom requires you to establish healthy boundaries while preserving your character.

Being humble does not mean remaining silent in the face of injustice, accepting manipulation, or allowing others to misuse your kindness. You can be gentle without being gullible, compassionate without being controlled, and respectful without surrendering your convictions.

Humility honours others, but it also honours the value God has placed within you. Therefore, be humble enough to serve, courageous enough to stand for what is right, and wise enough never to allow your humility to become a tool for someone else's exploitation.
