34.THE PROVERBS OF UNCLE SOLOMON

There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling place of the wise but a FOOLISH MAN SPENDETH IT UP.

A foolish man SPENDS IT ALL.

You cant be wasteful and be wealthy.They are completely different things.WASTE is a culture of the foolish.

Dont be quick to say, "Well, today's devotional is not for me.I am a very prudent person.I have a good savings culture." You might be WASTEFUL without knowing that you are.

One of the greatest forms of WASTE that I have seen in this age and time is the financial WASTE associated with EXPENSIVE PARTIES.

I still dont understand why anyone will spend millions of naira on an expensive wedding ceremony and have nothing in his bank account after the wedding.Its WASTEFUL.

There is nothing bad with celebrations but everything is bad with EXPENSIVE CELEBRATIONS.

I still dont understand why someone will spend millions of naira on an expensive burial ceremony of a parent THAT YOU DID NOT TAKE CARE OF.

Its a WASTE.

Even if people are sponsoring your wedding dont spend everything.Save up part of it to do something meaningful with your life.

I think the reason why people spend both the money they have and the money that they dont have is due to two reasons :

THE DESIRE TO IMPRESS PEOPLE and THE FACT THAT THEY DERIVE PLEASURE FROM PARTYING.

Dont spend your hard earned money or money given to you on meaningless parties just to IMPRESS PEOPLE.Its not worth anything.People go to parties almost every weekend.Before the year is over, they would have forgotten your party.The funniest thing is that this people wont come to your aid when financial challenges stare you in the face.

There is nothing bad if you DERIVE PLEASURE IN PARTYING.We derive pleasures in different ways.However spend your " excess cash" on pleasures not your life savings.The rich dont spend their money on luxuries.They spend the proceeds from their investments on such.

Dont be like this fellow who took a bank loan to finance the burial ceremony of his grand parents.I wonder if it was the devil that they were burying.

Well someone might ask, " Pastor Yomi, are you indirectly implying that your wedding wont be a very big societal wedding ?"

Hmmm

As long as its not a crusade I am organising or a seminar, I dont understand how the word BIG relates to what we are talking about.

During this season of Shiloh, heavens will open up unto you as you seek the face of the Lord.

During this season of Shiloh, mighty breakthrough ideas will be released unto you in the name of Jesus.

33. THE EVANGELISM MODEL OF UNCLE SOLOMON

There are several ways God uses to draw people to Christ.

Some people will be drawn to Christ by the demonstration of the healing anointing.Some will get saved because God set them free from demonic bondages.Others will accept Jesus because the Spirit of God convicted them of their sins

Some people are serving God today because God rescued them from poverty.

Some witches and wizards got saved when they encountered an higher power in Christ which made the satanic power they so much believed in very useless.

Another way God can draw people to Himself is through the DISPLAY OF MASSIVE, UNPARALLEL AND INCONTROVERTIBLE WISDOM, SUCCESS AND WEALTH IN THE LIFE OF HIS SERVANT THAT DWARFS THE SUCCESS OF THE WORLD.

When the Queen of Sheba saw the WISDOM and PROSPERITY OF SOLOMON, there was no more spirit in her.

SUCCESS IS INTIMIDATING.

SUCCEED FOR JESUS

LET MEN SEE YOUR LIFE AND GIVE THEIR LIFE TO GOD.

Lets consider this scenario.

3 speakers Mr A, Mr B and Mr C were invited to speak to University students at a student program.

Mr A is not born again.He does not go to church.He is a free thinker but he is very successful.He owns many big businesses and has hundreds of employees.He clubs hard, womanises and smokes but he is very successful.So the students listened to him with rapt attention.

Mr B is a stauch Christian.He married his wife as a virgin.He has never taken alcohol in his life talkless of getting drunk.He is a man of Integrity.He does not give bribes nor accept bribes.He can not lie even to save his life.He does not cut corners.He was invited to speak to the students because of his reputation as a man of Integrity.

Well Mr B's house rent is currently due and even as he speaks to the students he is silently believing God for a breakthrough.Mr B's wife and children are coping with him.Everyone admires him for his INTEGRITY but they dont seem to understand why that INTEGRITY has been unable to pay the bills.His Children have vowed never to end up like their dad and his first son is already contemplating learning the lucrative yahoo scams.

Mr C is a Christian Businessman and Fanatic at the same time.He is richer than both Mr A and Mr B.He is a multi-billionaire and most of his employees are multi-millionaires in their right.Mr C owns many big businesses and has huge shares in others.This man is powerful.Governors, senators and Politicians court his attention.

Many people dont like him because of his fanatical stand on Christian matters but they just cant avoid him because they need him for one thing or the other.He is a necessary evil.

Even though the program was not a Christian program, he spent the first 20 minutes preaching from the Bible and calling sinners to repentance.The organisers were not happy but they cant stop him- THE FACT THAT HE AGREED TO COME TO THE EVENT WAS THE ONLY REASON THEY COULD GATHER THAT GREAT CROWD.

THAT IS THE EVANGELISM MODEL OF UNCLE SOLOMON.

Hmmmm.

Lets think about this.

It is good for a man that he bears the yoke in his youth.

There are several deductions from this scripture but we will consider a few.

1.Every man or woman will bear the yoke.The time they choose to bear it is what differs.

We have rainy season and the dry season, winter and summer, heat and cold, light and darkness.

There cant be gain without pain.There cant be prizes without prices.

No man can escape pain in life.The only choice you have is to DETERMINE the KIND OF PAIN that you want.

There is the pain of SACRIFICE and the pain of REGRET.They are two different kinds of PAIN.

It is PAINFUL to do the things that makes a person successful in life.Yes it is.SUCCESS comes with its own PAINs.It is painful to wake up early, sleep late, pray hard, fast, serve God, do vigils, Read, Study the Word of God, work hard, Live in Holiness.

It is PAINFUL to delay gratification.

It is PAINFUL to walk up and down the street without a Car just because you are building a house or saving up for a major business opportunity.It is PAINFUL.

It is PAINFUL to dress moderately because you need to save up for your future.It is PAINFUL.It is PAINFUL to sit down at home studying for your exams or attending empowerment seminars when there are many parties in town that you could attend.

However IT IS MORE PAINFUL

When at an old age a man or woman keeps struggling financially to make ends meet.

IT IS MORE PAINFUL

When a man or woman has been left behind in life and destiny by the people they started together with.

IT IS MORE PAINFUL

When a man tries to hide himself whenever he sees his contemporaries because he cant measure up.

IT IS MORE PAINFUL

When a man or woman is faced with the consequences of wrong decisions made in their younger years.

There are two kinds of PAIN in life - THE PAIN OF DISCIPLINE and the PAIN OF REGRET.

I choose the PAIN OF DISCIPLINE.

Why not do the same ?

31.THE OBSERVATIONS OF UNCLE SOLOMON

A just man falleth seven times and riseth again.

Even a JUST MAN will experience defeats and setbacks.

Jesus our Lord and Saviour did not leave us in doubt in this area when he said, " In this world you will experience tribulations and trials but be of good cheer because I have overcome the world."

Life is not always a bed of roses.However if you see anyone who life is like a bed of roses, its simply because they removed the thorns and planted the roses.

Uncle Solomon observed that a JUST MAN not only FALLS but ALSO RISES.We need to stop undue emphasis on encouraging people during periods of trials, tribulations and crisis and start focusing on how such people CAN RISE AGAIN.

A RIGHTEOUS MAN FALLS SEVEN TIMES and RISETH AGAIN.

You need to RISE AGAIN.

How do you then RISE AGAIN ? There are many things to do in this regard but we will consider just 3 things this morning.

CONSISTENCY-
Consistency simply means maintaining a certain course of action with the same level of intensity.Many people do things that will eventually lead to success but the challenge with them is that they are not CONSISTENT.They start but soon stop.

Many people start out with a business and when it does not immediately yield great returns they abandon it for another business.The challenge with this attitude is that a person can do this for 10- 20 years.

PERSEVERANCE -
This means maintaining a certain course of action with the same level of intensity or a greater level of intensity despite REPEATED FAILURES.

There is always light at the end of the tunnel for those who dont stop digging.As long as you are CONVINCED that you are on the RIGHT PATH dont stop whatever you are doing even if you encounter failures, setbacks and disappointments.

Winners never quit and Quitters never quit.Stay at it.

PATIENCE
This simply means waiting.Patience is what you do when you have done all that you can do.

You have been CONSISTENT.

You have PERSEVERED.

Yet nothing has changed.

What do you do ?

YOU WAIT

At times its not about doing anything new; its about WAITING.

HAVING DONE ALL, STAND.

Uncle Daniel was a statesman during his lifetime.He was a major force to be reckoned with during every political dispensation in Babylon.

Uncle Daniel was not only a praying man, he was also a reader.

There was no way, Uncle Daniel could have stayed relevant if he was not a reader.

Readers are Leaders.

People who dont read wallow in abject ignorance and where Ignorance reigns Darkness reigns.

Where Ignorance reigns, Satan reigns.

In life there will be many times you will be presented with the choice to either read and learn or to be entertained.The Choice you make determines the eventual outcome of your existence.

Learning is the key to reigning in life.Learning is the key to advancement in life.

Praying is an absolute must.

However add to your prayers knowledge and understanding.

Buy books, attend seminars, watch learning videos.

Invest in your brain.

Feed your mind with knowledge and quality information.

29. THE ARMS BUILDING EXERCISE OF UNCLE SOLOMON

The Mighty Hand of the Lord will accelerate your destiny in the name of Jesus.You will move on the wings of the Spirit.You will be at the right place and at the right time in the name of Jesus.

Solomon had rest on every side.

Solomon did not fight any war during his reign.There was absolute peace during my Uncle's reign.

Why ?

Solomon gathered Chariots and Horsemen.
Solomon acquired significant military might which made it very risky for any nation to dare him in battle.

Even though my Uncle did not face any war yet because he was a very wise man, he invested heavily in military infrastructure so as to scare away potential adversaries.

Lets draw a parallel to this.

Since the end of World War 2 in 1945, no nation on earth has ever conceived the idea of INVADING THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Why ?

Because to do that is to sign your own death warrant.Every year, America keeps spending billions of dollars on military infrastructure.Its what is referred to as a SHOW OF FORCE- A DISPLAY OF MILITARY MIGHT TARGETED AT INTIMIDATING POTENTIAL ADVERSARIES.

So how does this relate to us.

BUILD UP YOUR SPIRITUAL ARSENALS and SCARE AWAY SATAN AND HIS COHORTS.

As a Christian you must be CONSTANTLY PRAYED UP.

You must be CONSTANTLY FIRED UP IN THE WORD, IN CONFESSIONS, FASTINGS, PRAYERS, VIGILS, GIVINGS, EVANGELISM, SERVICE TO GOD AND HOLY LIVING.

You must CONSTANTLY INVEST IN YOUR SPIRITUAL ARSENALS.

There must be periods of the year that you are ALONE WITH GOD.

There must be at least a day in the week that you fast.

There must be at least a day in the week that you observe a vigil.

That is how to live a life that is CURSE FREE AND SATAN FREE.

I leave you with this wise saying,

" To have peace upon peace, we must wage war upon war."

28.THE HYPOTHESIS OF UNCLE SOLOMON

God is expanding your coasts in the name of Jesus.God is giving you ground breaking ideas in the name of Jesus.Your heavens are opened in the name of Jesus.You are at the right place at the right time and you are moving on the wings of speed in the name of Jesus.

What is an Hypothesis ?

A supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation.

An Hypothesis is a statement made based on a belief or a conviction which however needs to be supported with EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE.

An Hypothesis is a statement made by a person based on his personal findings or experience but which has not yet been UNIVERSALLY PROVEN.

For instance, SNOW falls at certain times of the year is an HYPOTHESIS.SNOW falls at certain times of the year but not in EVERY PART OF THE WORLD.

When my Uncle said in all LABOUR there is PROFIT he was speaking from his experience and his convictions.

IN ALL LABOUR THERE SHOULD BE PROFIT.

However many people are labouring yet without PROFIT.

You should not be labouring hard every day of your life and yet have nothing to show for it.Its not ordinary.Its unscriptural.

There are many reasons why many people LABOUR HARD but have nothing to show for it.However I will mention just one of them today.

I hope you are able to receive this truth today.I just pray that you will accept this truth.I pray that the Lord will open your eyes of understanding to this truth I am about to share.

DONT SEEK MONEY OUT OF EVERYTHING YOU DO.AT THE SAME TIME DONT DO EVERYTHING FOR FREE.

SERVE HUMANITY WITH YOUR GIFTINGS, KNOWLEDGE AND RESOURCES BUT DONT BECOME POOR IN THE PROCESS.MONETIZE SOME.MAKE SOME FREE.

Even nature corroborates what I just said.

We breathe out CO2 and breathe in Oxygen.

We give out CO2 and receive Oxygen.

The day we stop receiving Oxygen there will be no CO2 to breathe out.

If you keep giving out without receiving it will soon get to a point that you have nothing to give out anymore.

If you keep breathing out CO2 without receiving Oxygen, its a matter of time before you drop dead.

If you keep giving life to people and those people are not giving anything back in return its just a matter of time before you become LIFELESS.

In conclusion, you need to have a board meeting with yourself today.

Take a stock of your knowledge, experiences, passion, skill and resources.Identify things that you do and people say "thank you", " well done", " that was great" , " that was wonderful".Out of those things, identify a few that YOU CAN MONETIZE.

I leave you with this.

Samuel Okwaraji died on the field of play for the Super Eagles.He played soccer at a time when football was more of a SPORT than a BUSINESS.Samuel's family are not doing so well financially as I write.

Did he entertain us ? Yes.Did he make Nigerians happy ? Yes he did.

Christiano Ronaldo is both popular and wealthy.If he dies today, his children can never be poor.Does he entertain us ? Yes he does.Does he make us happy whenever he plays.Yes he does.

IN ALL LABOUR, THERE SHOULD BE PROFIT.
