Six Decades of Living: An excerpt from my upcoming book release.
My father asked me to repeat Primary Six, but I refused. In my mind, I had already completed that stage, and I did not see any reason to go back. Instead, he enrolled me in an evening school in another village within Ogbomosho. That decision led me to Adeleke Progressive College, a preparatory school for
students who needed to retake the common entrance examination. The school also offered training in typing,
which was considered a useful skill at the time.
Attending that school meant I had to relocate, so I went to live with a pastor who was also a prophet. He was a
mentee of my father, and at the time, it seemed like agood arrangement based on convenience. But it turned out to be more than that. It became another step in a process orchestrated by divine providence.
Living with that man exposed me to a level of spiritual reality I had not experienced before. People came from
different places every day, looking for counsel and prayer. At times, there would be fifteen or twenty people waiting to see him.
My role was to arrange chairs and help with whatever needed to be done. But as I watched him minister, something started to grow in me. He would
pray briefly, then begin to speak about people’s lives with a level of accuracy I could not explain.
One day, I summoned the courage to ask him, “Daddy, how do you know all these things about people who come to you for prayers?” He looked at me with a calm certainty that I had not seen in anyone before and replied, “Whenever I pray, I see an angel standing beside me. The angel tells me things about these people.”
In that moment, I did not fully understand what he meant, but the experience made me aware that there was more to the spiritual life than what I had seen and encountered before.
At the age of twelve, I gave my life to Jesus Christ. It was during that period of curiosity and growing spiritual awareness. It was not something I had planned, and it was not driven by any desire to go into ministry. I was simply drawn to God, and the environment I found myself in made it difficult to ignore
that curiosity.
That decision marked a shift, even though I did not fully understand it at the time. It was a step I took without knowing where it would lead, but it became the starting point of a journey that would unfold gradually.
