But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews? But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them. And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
Mark 15:9, 11, 15

Pilate had to release either Jesus or Barrabas. One had no guilt and the other was a murderer. He really should not have had a hard time deciding who to release but he played a political game. Pilate cleverly asked the people who they wanted released.

Politics can change the outcome of many issues because there are people who have vested interest. It was the chief priests who influenced the people's decision to ask for Barrabas to be released.

Pilate did not want to offend the chief priests so he had no choice than to please the people even though his wife told him to release Jesus.
Jesus was crucified as a result of the people's choice. God used this crisis even though it was a difficult choice for Jesus. The last enemy- death was destroyed when Jesus rose up from the dead after three days.

When we choose to do good and live by the truth, we will encounter opposition. The enemies will not prevail as long as we hold on to our faith in God.

And the Lord said, Because the cry of S***m and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
Genesis 18:20

The people cried so loudly to God but their sin was very grievous. The grievous sin here is none other than homosexuality. God's verdict is clear on this issue.

God visited this city to see if he could find righteous people and there was a long conversation with Abraham. Abraham pleaded until the number of righteous men was reduced to just ten. Lot and his family were counted among them. How did Lot find himself here?

And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) 2 Peter 2:7-8

You cannot pitch tent with what vexes your soul and expect not to be tortured. You have to move your tent elsewhere. Abraham was so worried about his nephew that he pleaded earnestly with God. That was the only family he had there.

Righteousness exalts a nation. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. His judgement is sure

For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
Proverbs 2:6-8

In Proverbs,we are given sound instructions for living a successful life. We have to tune our ears to the world of Wisdom and apply our hearts to understanding. If only we cry after knowledge and lift up our voices for understanding. If we seek wisdom the way we search for silver and search for hidden treasures then we will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.

Search for wisdom and understanding. Get to know underlying principles and put them to use in your daily life. God will give you insight you need in your career, businesses, marriage, family and life.

It is God who gives wisdom. God gives instructions that once carried out will make us marvel at why we kept struggling in the first place. When the woman with the issue of blood had exhausted all means of getting well, she received divine instructions to touch the edge of Jesus' cloth. The question is why didn't she do that first?

God gives sound wisdom to the righteous and shields the upright. God keeps the path of judgement and preserves the saints.

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Matthew 6:7

Some people believe that saying the same thing repeatedly while praying is the best way to pray. They make it look like prayer is a competition or a show off. This happened among the heathens (pagans, atheists) They were actually thinking that prayers were answered this way and would have taught so many people this pattern of prayer. If Jesus had not corrected this error we might be genuinely praying this way and when our prayers go unanswered, we might feel discouraged.

We can repeat a prayer topic that is yet unanswered but not vain repetitions during prayer sessions. Jesus did teach us to make our prayers clear and specific as much as possible for God already knows our needs before we ask Him. Moreso, we should pray in the privacy of our rooms and He will hear us. We can pray as group too but we should go straight to the point. God hears earnest prayers.

Thank you Lord for hearing our prayers. We know that you always hear us.

And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.
Genesis 17:19

God does not think they way we think and we should not try to place limitations on God because of what we can see. When Abraham heard this promise, he didn't think about the fact that God already had a name for the child but he laughed at the possibility of giving birth at old age. Reality was that both Abraham and Sarah were past the age of child bearing however, God was going to fulfill His promise to them. He is a covenant keeping God.

God gave the child the name Isaac meaning laughter. God keeps His covenant. There are some praying to God for children. Do not lose hope because of what the doctors may have said. You should not be double-minded when you pray to God. Keep declaring the word of God into your life for He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.(Psalms 113:9)

Meditate and pray as you read Isaiah 54.
I pray for you to sing and rejoice this year at the birth of your children

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Matthew 4:19

Following Jesus is a call to leadership. Everyone is seeking who to follow that will lead them. Jesus says follow me. To be a good leader you have to be a good follower. The apostles followed Jesus to the extent they were called Christians because they behaved and lived like Christ.

No matter what the world thinks, Jesus is the best leader that we can never regret following. Jesus teaches us to love God and love one another. The world needs love more than hate. Following Jesus will require that we stop following our own paths. We will follow Jesus and trust Him as the Way, the Truth and the Life. Whatever Jesus says to us that is what we will do.

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
Genesis 9:13,16

God established an everlasting covenant with all of us. The covenant began with Noah and his sons. God promised never to destroy the world by flood again. The sign of this covenant shall be a rainbow in the cloud. The rainbow is a display of seven wonderful colours. The rainbow usually appears after the rain. The rainbow appears like an arc in the clouds and reminds us that God keeps His promises to us.

We are made in God's image and should also keep and honour our agreements. When we go through challenges, we should remember that God is faithful and remembers His covenant to all mankind.
