HOLY MICHAEL'S DAY CELEBRATIONS n:
29th September of every year is a day that Christians all over the world celebrate Holy Michael. Celebrating Holy Michael, the Archangel is not about worshiping an angel as mentioned in Revelation 22: 9 but it is a simple way of appreciating his dexterity in dealing with Satan, his protection of all Christians as desired by God, His guilding of Christians against evil attacks/forces and his being loyal and faithful to God, our Creator.
WHO IS MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL?
He is a very significant spirit creature infrequently mentioned in the Bible. He is a loyal and faithful angel. He is the leader of all faithful angels and the army of God.
Holy Michael the Archangel, whose name means "who is like God" actually lived up to his name when he led the army of faithful angels who cast Satan and the rebellious angels into Hell. He will at the end of the world wield the sword of justice to separate the righteous from the wicked and evil (Rev. 12:7).
In the Old Testament, Michael is mentioned three times in the book of Daniel:(Daniel 10: 13, Daniel 10: 21, Daniel 12:1). He is:
1. The angel who helped Daniel in receiving heavenly blessings being delayed by Satan.
2. The angel who will at the end time of the world, stand for the "children of thy people" to deliver everyone that shall be found in the book of life.
In the New Testament, he is mentioned in the Epistle of St Jude (Jude 1: 9) and the book of Revelation (Rev 12: 7-9
In the Epistle of Jude, he is mentioned as the angel who guarded the tomb of Moses and contended with Satan over the body of Moses
In the book of Revelation, Michael and other loyal and faithful angels battled dragon e.i Satan when a war broke out in heaven and defeated him, casting him to the world.
Just as all living and non living creatures have definite purpose for which they were created so also all the spirit creatures have purpose for their creation. Each angel is assigned with a specific task
For instance angel Gabriel is to deliver good news, fortune and heavenly blessings to mankind while angel Michael is to battle Satan, evil forces in our lives and to ensure that our heavenly gifts/blessings are delivered to us with any hindrances.
As we witness this year's holy Michael day celebration, I pray that we shall witness many more of it on the surface of the earth in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
