This is a man who maintains his lane and didn’t use Catholic Church and Catholic prayer to masquerade himself. He and his followers are proud of their identity and status as Pentecostals. This is a big lesson for those who found Pentecostal churches in the guise of Catholic prayer ministry or outreach and continue to suffer from identity crisis.

Pastor Lazarus Muoka, the General overseer and founder of “The Lord’s chosen Charismatic Revival Moment” was born into a Catholic family in Umuhu-Okabia in Orsu LGA of Orlu zone in Imo State, Nigeria. He founded The Lord's Chosen on December 24, 2002. That was 22 years ago.

Zion Prayer Movement Outreach Fr. Gabriel

Watching the rave around Ebuka Obi's Zion ministry in Lagos reminded me of Aloysius Ohanebo, the founder of Watchman.

For those old enough to know, both utilised most of the activities and practices done in the Catholic church to grow their audience, and both had Catholic church members flocking to their ministries. Both men were gifted and firebrand preachers. I have listened to both preach, and they have the gift of the gab.

If you knew Watchman in the 90s, you would hardly distinguish it from a pious Catholic church society, just as Zion today. However, Watchman is now a full blown Pentecostal church and points out that the "Catholic" in their name means "universal" and has shifted away from Roman Catholic practices.

As someone interested in gaining more knowledge about Ebuka's ministry, I want to ask: for Catholics, is there any prayer on a Sunday greater than the mass? If an activity prevents me from attending mass, should I review my attendance at that activity? Which should have priority on a Sunday as a Catholic, that activity or the mass?

When Watchman started, they had Catholic Charismatic Renewal in their name. It looked and felt like an extension of one of the religious groups (St Vincent, St Jude, Charism, etc), and many Catholics flocked there.

It is important to name things and stick to an identity.

If Zion is an independent organisation, the Bishop cannot direct their leader on how to run his ministry, including days of activities. He can run it as he pleases. Indeed, I see no reason why Zion should appear to be affiliated with the Catholic church. The ministry can exist independently and do its things as it pleases.

On the other hand, if a good manager at a company attracts the admiration of his coworkers, he is still answerable to the CEO. "Nobody papa get Catholic church" is not a proper statement to make, especially as the church has a hierarchical structure of leadership and obedience. As far back as 2017, the Archdiocese of Lagos had some reservations about activities at the Ministry and shared this with the founder.

If Zion claims to be obedient to the Catholic church, then the ministry should obey the Bishop and defer to him as a final port of call in decisions relating to the nature of activities. There is no in-between, and our opinions wouldn't count.

Ebuka can run his ministry without the Catholic church. The Catholic church can exist without Ebuka. If the former wishes to be seen as part of the latter, it has to obey the instructions of one it sees as superior.

TRUST and OBEY is not just a song; it is at the foundation of our Christian faith.

Till we get to the Promised Land, I shall be waiting for when you will pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the race.

As I enter into the month of July,
I lift my heart to You in gratitude and anticipation.
Thank You for the blessings of the past month,
For the lessons learned and the growth experienced.
As I stand at the threshold of a new beginning,
I surrender my plans and aspirations into Your hands,
Trusting in Your divine wisdom and providence.

May this new month be filled with Your presence,
Guiding me every step of the way.
Grant me clarity of mind and purity of heart,
That I may discern Your will and walk in Your ways.
Open my eyes to see the opportunities for growth and transformation,
And give me the courage to seize them with faith and boldness.

Bless my endeavors, both big and small,
And let Your light shine brightly through me
As I seek to glorify Your name in all that I do.
May this month be a time of abundance and blessings,
Overflowing with Your love, grace, and favor.

🌹On May 23, Pope Francis approved a miracle attributed to the intercession of Blessed Carlo Acutis, the Italian teenager who passed away at the age of 15 and was beatified in 2020 in Assisi.

With this new decree, the young man who deeply loved the Eucharist will be proclaimed a saint.

SMARTPHONE IDOLATRY

Most of us don't even realize that we are wasting our precious time using Cell Phones when we should be on our kneels praying. From the moment we wake up to the moment we go to sleep, we always have a cellphone in our hands.

Sometimes even while eating, we are still on the cell phone. Then tell me when will we have time for prayers (at least 5 decades of the Rosary), when will we have time to visit our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament?....??

When will we have time to examine our conscience so as to make a good confession.

That's when the phone becomes our god (idolatry)

IDOLATRY -

An idol is anything that replaces God in our lives and deprives Him of our wholehearted devotion that He deserves.

Sometimes you should also look at what is the main reason for your continuous relapsing into sin.
Maybe the main reason for this is Your smartphone, the excess use of your smartphone. It is because of this that our precious times are running out and we don't even have time to utilize them, to pray to the Lord.

Cellphones also come with so many temptations, that's why you often find it too difficult to leave your habitual sinful lives, because you can't give yourself enough time to battle such temptations, you can only conquer with prayers and avoiding the occasions of sin.

If you do hold your cell phone all the time (depending on the nature of your work), be careful because it might turn out to be a god in your life. The time that the Lord gives us every day is very important, let's not take it for granted because it will never return.

Help your relationship with God grow further while you live. Use the time for meaningful things and don't waste it using your cell phone for unnecessary stuffs, spend more time for the Lord.

Remember, this doesn't mean you shouldn't use your phone, rather,it means that you shouldn't let your cell phone be a hindrance to you growing spiritually.

Do not let your phone deprive you your prayer lives,use your phone wisely!

Have you ever asked yourself why you always feel distracted, sleepy or weak during prayers?
Why won't you be distracted after focusing on your phone throughout the day (even though you might not be doing something evil with it), take your time and read and reflect on spiritual books, it'll help you minimize the distractions you always have during prayers.

The question is; what's the first thing you do immediately you woke up from sleep, prayers or phone????

This will determine who you value most.

MIRACLE OF THE MULE

One of the reasons why Saint Anthony worked so hard to convert heretics was because he genuinely felt sorry for them. He saw that they were depriving themselves of the Church and the most precious gift to the Church, the Most Holy Eucharist. He truly believed that no one could long survive without this spiritual nourishment.

One day, a heretic told Anthony that he would believe that Christ was truly present in the Eucharist only if his mule bowed down to it.

They established that the test should take place in three days. The heretic starved his mule for the next three days. When the appointed time had arrived, Anthony stood off to one side with the consecrated host in his hands, while the heretic stood to the other holding some fodder for the mule to eat. The mule, ignoring its own extreme hunger, went before the Eucharist and knelt down to adore the Blessed Sacrament.
