THE DAILY DYNAMITE DEVOTIONAL
CHURCH OF NIGERIA ( ANGLICAN COMMUNION)

DATE: Friday, May 1, 2026

TEXT: John 14:1–14

TOPIC: FAITHFUL WITNESS AND OBEDIENCE

ANCHOR VERSE : John 14:6 – “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

MESSAGE
On this day, we commemorate the life and faithfulness of St. Philip and St. James, two Apostles who labored for the Gospel in obscurity, yet remained steadfast in their commitment to Jesus. Their lives serve as a reminder to us all of the importance of being faithful witnesses and obedient servants of Christ.
Just as Philip and James faced challenges and uncertainties in their time, we too encounter struggles and doubts in our journey of faith. The world may tempt us to seek success, recognition, and popularity, but the true essence of our Christian calling is in following the example of these humble apostles.
Jesus, in the text today in the Upper Room Discourse, reassured His disciples with the words, “Let not your hearts be troubled.” He reminded them that He is the way, the truth, and the life. In the midst of uncertainties and trials, Jesus remains our constant guide and source of strength.
Like Philip, who sought to see the Father, let us remember that Jesus is the way to the Father. Our faithfulness to Him, our commitment to His Word, and our obedience to His calling are what truly matter. In a world obsessed with numbers and success, let us choose the narrow path of faithfulness, even if it leads to obscurity or martyrdom.
Let us emulate the faith of St. Philip and St. James, lift high the cross, and proclaim the Gospel no matter the cost. May our lives be a reflection of dedication of these saints to Jesus, knowing that our hope is not in this world but in the age to come.
As we navigate the challenges of our time, may we remain focused on Jesus, the way, the truth, and the life, and may our lives bear witness to His transformative power and love.

Food for Thought: In a world that often values success, recognition, and popularity, Jesus reminds us that the true essence of our Christian calling is found in Him.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to be a faithful witness in all areas of my life in Jesus’ name.

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_

DATE: FRIDAY, 1ST MAY, 2026 THEME: JESUS: THE WAY TO THE FATHER

TEXT: JOHN 14: 1-14 (NKJV)

1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”
8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.
11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.
12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

MESSAGE:

In today's passage, Jesus comforts His disciples, revealing Himself as the way, the truth, and the life. This message is particularly significant as we celebrate St. Philip and St. James, two apostles who demonstrated unshaking faith in their discipleship. Philip's question, "Show us the Father" (v.8), echoes humanity's deep longing to know God. Jesus responds by affirming His unity with the Father, reminding His followers that to see Him is to see the Father. St. James, often associated with steadfast faith, exemplifies a life fully devoted to Christ's mission. Together, their lives encourage us to remain faithful and trust Jesus as the only path to eternal communion with God.

For Christians today, this passage is a reminder to find assurance and guidance in Jesus, amidst life's uncertainties. Faith in Him anchors us, providing peace and confidence in God's promises. As Jesus empowers His followers to do greater works, we are called to live as witnesses of His truth and love. Like Philip and James, we are invited to deepen our relationship with Christ, trusting Him to lead us in the way of righteousness and to strengthen us for the journey ahead.

PRAYER:
Lord help me trust fully in Jesus as the way, the truth, and the life. Amen!

TEXT: EXODUS 16: 8-21 *(NKJV)*_

8 Also Moses said, “This shall be seen when the Lord gives you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to the full; for the Lord hears your complaints which you make against Him. And what are we? Your complaints are not against us but against the Lord.”
9 Then Moses spoke to Aaron, “Say to all the congregation of the children of Israel, ‘Come near before the Lord, for He has heard your complaints.’ ”
10 Now it came to pass, as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud.
11 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
12 “I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, ‘At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. And you shall know that I am the Lord your God.’ ”
13 So it was that quail came up at evening and covered the camp, and in the morning the dew lay all around the camp.
14 And when the layer of dew lifted, there, on the surface of the wilderness, was a small round substance, as fine as frost on the ground.
15 So when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was.
And Moses said to them, “This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat.
16 This is the thing which the Lord has commanded: ‘Let every man gather it according to each one’s need, one omer for each person, according to the number of persons; let every man take for those who are in his tent.’ ”
17 Then the children of Israel did so and gathered, some more, some less.
18 So when they measured it by omers, he who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack. Every man had gathered according to each one’s need.
19 And Moses said, “Let no one leave any of it till morning.”
20 Notwithstanding they did not heed Moses. But some of them left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and stank. And Moses was angry with them.
21 So they gathered it every morning, every man according to his need. And when the sun became hot, it melted.

MESSAGE:

After the Israelites finished complaining, Moses responded by reassuring them that God would provide food for them (Exod. 16:8). He told them that God would rain down bread from heaven. In the evening, quails also arrived, which the Israelites called "manna" (Exod. 16:13-14,31). Moses finally warned them that God would test their obedience by providing food for six days, with a double portion on the sixth day, and none on the seventh day (Exod. 16:4-5, 29-30). This test would reveal whether they would follow God's instructions.

Beloved, Jesus Christ taught us to pray to God to give us today our daily bread. Just as it was in the case of Israel, God is more than capable of providing our daily needs. As long as you continue to obey God's instructions, you will experience His bountiful provisions. We must also be content with God's provision, trusting that He will supply our needs. Are there areas in your life where you are tempted to "store up" more than God has provided, out of fear or lack of trust? Remember that God knows your needs and calls you to trust Him each day. His instructions are for your good, leading to a life of faith, peace, and provision.

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, thank You for our daily provisions, help me to continually depend on You in times of need in Jesus' Name, Amen.
