Topic: Altars 2

*Scripture:* Genesis 28:11-19

*Memory Verse: Then Jacob woke up and said, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it.”*
*Genesis 28:16*

Today’s passage shows us the power that is in raising an altar. Jacob had journeyed to a place and decided to rest at a particular spot and that was where he had an encounter. God appeared to him there and reassured him of His promise to bless him and his descendants. After the encounter, Jacob realized that that was not an ordinary place. Unknowing to him, an altar had been raised there and that birthed his encounter. Abraham, his grandfather had raised an altar there (Genesis 12:8) and that altar still worked for Jacob the grandson.

This shows the extent to which a raised altar can go. It can speak for generations to come. Many of us today do not have a working altar and what we don’t know is that we are not just putting ourselves at a disadvantage, we are also putting our generations behind at a disadvantage because the things we do or don’t do have an effect directly or indirectly on those who are coming behind us. We must not make an excuse of our parents not raising their own altar. Let it start with you. That is God’s intentionality; He is being intentional about you and that is why He is exposing you to this truth, you’ll not have an excuse if you put your generation at a disadvantage. God has placed them behind you for a purpose.

So today, make up your mind to be intentional about your altar. Make up your mind to be consistently present at the altar. Make up your mind to be the reason why generations after you will encounter God too!

*Thought:* Be the reason why generations after you will encounter God too!

*Prayer:* Lord, I give myself intentionally to raising an altar and being consistent with it all my life.

*Topic:* Altars

*Scripture: Genesis 12:7-8*

*Memory Verse:* And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land; and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.
*Genesis 12:7*

Abraham had just built his first altar to God. This was a show of a relationship that had just begun. God had just appeared to him with an instruction and a blessing and before that time, Abraham had not had any encounter with God. But the moment God appeared to Him, he built an altar to God.

For the believer today, this altar is not the physical monument made with stones as it was with Abraham. The altar is a commitment of our lives to God. Abraham could not build the altar before God appeared to him. His relationship with God which that altar represented was raised after he came to know God. It is the same thing with us today, we cannot give our lives committedly to God without first getting to acknowledge and accept Him and His Son that He sent. It is only after we have acknowledged and accepted Him that we can now have a relationship with Him. That is when we can be committed to following Him. That is when we can obey His call, follow His leading and surrender to His demands over our lives just like Abraham did.

For those of us who have acknowledged and accepted Him, it is time to be conscious and deliberate about our relationship with Him.

*Thought* : It is time to be conscious and deliberate about your relationship with God.

*Prayer:* Dear Father I choose from today to be more conscious and deliberate about my relation with You seeing that You have saved me.

*Topic:* Vain Repetitions

*Scripture:* Matthew 6:5-7

*Memory Verse:* But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Matthew 6:7

Verses should be read and interpreted in the right context, not just taken in isolation. What was Jesus addressing in this passage? He was about to teach them how to pray but went on to teach them how not to pray first.
He told them not to pray like the heathen, who think that their prayers will be answered because of their lengthy petitions. So what does it mean to make vain repetitions in prayer? It is to pray repetitively thinking that that’s what will produce results.
It all boils down to the right motives in prayer because God sees what man does not see. You must make sure the words you speak are the same as the posture of your heart. Your lips must agree with your heart because God sees the heart. Jesus was teaching them in Matthew 6 to have the right heart in prayer. Perseverance in prayer is not vain repetition, it is praying with a laser focus on what you want to achieve in prayer.
Let’s take note of this and act on it.

*Prayer:* Lord I acknowledge Your willingness to answer my prayers and I pray with this consciousness, that you are my Father and I am Your child. Amen

*Thought:* Pray till it is done, don’t stop before then.

*Topic:* Perseverance in Prayer

*Scripture:* Luke 11:5-10

*Memory Verse:* Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
Colossians 4:2

To be instructed on any subject relevant to the faith, we are to look to God’s Word. What does the Bible say about prayer?

There are many things to understand when it comes to the subject of prayer, from priority in prayer to agreement in prayer. One other thing is perseverance in prayer which Jesus taught on in the gospels. What does it mean to persevere in prayer?

In Luke 11, Jesus used a story to teach on this topic. What we are to note in the illustration Jesus used is the attitude of the man who went to ask his friend for help. God is not a reluctant giver who needs to be asked repeatedly before He answers. That’s not what Jesus was trying to teach.

Jesus was using this story to communicate an attitude that we must have when praying. An attitude of importunity and determination. Perseverance in prayer is to maintain focus in spite of discouragement. Jesus acted this out while He was on earth. He was once so burdened by sorrow that He thought He would die. What did He do next? He went into a garden to pray. The gospel of Matthew records that Jesus went back three times to pray. His emotions must have discouraged Him, but He prayed regardless. This is the attitude we must have towards prayer. Keep praying till it is done.

Some say that Jesus warned us against vain repetitions in prayer, and so we shouldn’t ask more than once. Is this true? What did Jesus mean by vain repetitions? We’ll discuss that tomorrow.

*Thought for the day:* Don’t ignore your emotions, but pray till they are aligned.

*Prayer:* Lord, help me to continue in prayer. Even when I don’t feel like it, I will pray. I have strength to persevere regardless. Amen.

A woman 𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 for God is not automatically destined to marry a pastor.

It's not an error to walk in God out of pure 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘 without a ministerial call.

It has become an abomination in our generation for a lady to love God without a 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 of marrying "Papa".🤦‍♂️

Since when did chasing God become for a particular set of ladies?

See, God is not after raising pastors wives, He is raising 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦.

God is not just raising "Mamas", He is raising 𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗡 𝗕𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗥𝗦.

A woman chasing after and loving God is not mummy G.O. She is just a lover of God and His presence!

Ma, you can be a house wife and still house the 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 of God.

You can be a banker and still save this generation from 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚.

Please listen ma, you can be a secondary school teacher and still invoke a heavenly 𝗖𝗨𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗨𝗠.

You can be a senator and still 𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗦𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗘 against the kingdom of 𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗞𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦.

You can be a business woman and still do business with 𝗜𝗠𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗦 Ma!!🔥🔥🤷‍♂️

Please know that you don't have to be a mummy G.O to 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗩𝗔𝗜𝗟 for revival in your generation.

You can be in the United Nations and still tarry for the 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬 of the body of Christ

"Mama" mustn't be added to your name to become a 𝗠𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 in Israel .

𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗬 never handled any microphone.

𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 was not a mummy G.O.

𝗥𝗨𝗧𝗛 never knew the road to the pulpit.

𝗗𝗢𝗥𝗖𝗔𝗦 was not the women's leader.

Yet, they changed the tides of history.

𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗡 wherever you are!!!🔥🔥🔥
