Acts 20:20
*You know that I have not hesitated to preach anything that would be helpful to you, but have taught you publicly and from house to house.* (NIV)
*I did not skimp or trim in any way. Every truth and encouragement that could have made a difference to you, you received. I taught you in public and in your homes.* (MSG)
Acts 20:27 (KJV)
*For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.*
The man of God must learn not to withhold any truth that can better the lives of the people entrusted to him, or those he ministers to. Do not think that by hoarding needed knowledge or information you will gain an advantage over God’s people. Many preachers operate with this mindset. Many feel they need to reserve certain truths so that, when questions of depth arise, they can suddenly release one of their “strong truths” or “mysteries” and overwhelm everyone. O man of God, operating this way can block the flow.
Be assured that the more you pour out to the people, the more you receive from the Father. God’s wisdom is an unending flow. You disconnect yourself from that flow when you hold back instead of pouring out as the Father pours into you. Therefore, do not hold back.
However, the man of God must also know when to release a body of knowledge or truth. There are times when the people are not mature enough to handle certain details, and truth released at such a point may produce little or no benefit, or even cause more harm to their journey than good.
In such situations, the preacher should adopt the posture of not hiding the truth from them, but keeping it for them, to be dispensed at the right time. We see our Lord Jesus in this same position with His disciples, and this is what He said:
John 16:12–13 (NKJV)
*“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth…”*
As vessels and dispensers of truth, let us endeavour to pour out all the truth given to us by God for the salvation, healing, establishment, and prosperity of the souls He has sent our way.
Remain blessed,
Your brother,
