*RE: AN APPEAL FOR RE-PRIORITIZATION OF GOVERNMENT SPENDING TOWARDS THE IMMEDIATE NEEDS OF OGUN PEOPLE*
Your Excellency,sir,
On behalf of MOGA Movement and the Grassroots People of Ogun State, we bring you warm greetings and write with a deep sense of responsibility to our fatherland.
We have noted with concern the latest plans by the Ogun State Government to commit billions of naira from federal allocations and IGR to the construction of 450 housing units, new House of Assembly quarters, and the reconstruction of the Ogun State Lodge in Abuja, while earmarking only 5 roads for the entire state.
Your Excellency, with utmost respect, we submit that this is a misplaced priority at this time.
The pressing and immediate needs of the over 6 million people of Ogun State, and the nearly 300,000 voters who entrusted you with their mandate, remain: *motorable roads, stable electricity, and functional primary health centres.* These are the things that touch the daily lives of our people in Ijoko, Ijebu-Ode, Sagamu, Yewa, and across all 20 Local Governments.
Now that the rains have subsided temporarily, this is the window for massive road construction across the 20 LGAs, just as we are witnessing the federal government do all over the nation. Our people can not eat in the Abuja Lodge. Our mothers in labour can not drive on House of Assembly quarters. Our farmers can not transport goods on 450 housing units.
Sir, we are not against development. But development must start from the ground up. Charity begins at home.
We, therefore, respectfully appeal to Your Excellency to reconsider and re-channel these funds to urgent infrastructure that directly impacts the masses.
Please be assured that MOGA Movement will not relent in lawfully and peacefully demanding for our fundamental human rights as long as you remain our governor. Our goal is simple: the greatness of Ogun State.
We remain available for dialogue and partnership towards achieving this common goal.
