NO BELIEVER HAS AN EXCUSE NOT TO PREACH THE GOSPEL.
Oftentimes, we believe that it is until we have in-depth revelation or knowledge of the Word or being educationally sound before we can reach out to people about Jesus. And this has formed a mindset of timidity in some people because those who are not yet fluent in educational knowledge or the knowledge of God’s Word often feel inadequate to preach. Truly, Knowledge emboldens. When people lack knowledge, they may become timid about sharing the gospel.
Acts 4:13 says:
“When they saw the BOLDNESS of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and IGNORANT men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.”
This scripture above further confirms that knowledge in the context of education brings boldness naturally, but in the case of Peter and John it was not education, as they were unlearned. It was clearly boldness from the Spirit and their association with the Lord Jesus . But here is the twist: it is not until you become educationally knowledgeable or vast in Scripture before you can reach out to others about Jesus Christ.
Your TESTIMONIES are powerful tools for preaching the gospel.
A perfect example is the story of the mad man of Gadara in Mark chapter 5. After Jesus cast the demons out of him, the man wanted to follow Jesus.
But in Mark 5:19, Jesus told him:
“Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the LORD HATH DONE for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.”
Then Mark 5:20 says the man went to Decapolis — meaning ten cities — proclaiming what Jesus had done for him, and all men marvelled.
What was he preaching? The goodness of Jesus.
The gospel simply means “good news.” There is the gospel of salvation, the gospel of healing, the gospel of prosperity— all manifestations of the goodness of God. This man was declaring:
“I was once mad, but now I am whole, Jesus Christ healed me.”
That was good news. That was preaching the gospel. At that time, they only had the Scriptures; which is from Genesis to Malachi. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were not yet compiled as we know them today. Yet Jesus did not tell him to go and learn Scriptures (Genesis to Malachi) before preaching. Note: I am not saying learning the word is not important. Jesus simply told him to testify of what God had done for him.
In other words, your testimony can preach Jesus. There are people around you going through things your testimony can speak to. Your testimony can make them know that Jesus is real. Your testimony can reveal the love of God shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost (Romans 5:5). And it is not only testimonies of needs being met — testimonies of transformation can also change lives.
Praise God.
Learn this today: you do not have any excuse not to preach the gospel.
Preach it in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2). Tell your colleagues, your classmates, your neighbours, your friends. Start with the things the Lord has done for you.
And guess what? As you do this, more testimonies will begin to happen in your life, because God always INVESTS more in whatever brings glory to Him consistently.
God bless you!
