When we seek to keep all the commandments in our personal lives, we are sometimes accused of having no love for those who don’t. When we show personal love and support loving causes, we are sometimes misunderstood as implying support for results that contradict our other religious duties.
But as followers of Christ, we should seek to live peaceably and lovingly with other children of God who do not share our values and do not have the covenant obligations we have assumed.

In a democratic government we should seek fairness for all. In countless circumstances, strangers’ suspicions or even hostility gradually gives way to friendship when personal contacts produce mutual respect.

When you make choices, I invite you to take the long view—an eternal view. Put Jesus Christ first because your eternal life is dependent upon your faith in Him and in His Atonement. It is also dependent upon your obedience to His laws. Obedience paves the way for a joyful life for you today and a grand, eternal reward tomorrow.

When you are confronted with a dilemma, think celestial! When tested by temptation, think celestial! When life or loved ones let you down, think celestial! When someone dies prematurely, think celestial. When someone lingers with a devastating illness, think celestial. When the pressures of life crowd in upon you, think celestial! As you recover from an accident or injury, as I am doing now, think celestial.

I call upon you to help gather scattered Israel and to prepare the world for the Second Coming of the Lord. I call upon you to talk of Christ, testify of Christ, have faith in Christ, and rejoice in Christ!

When 12-year-old Jesus was found by His parents teaching in the temple, He told them that He had been “about [His] Father’s business.” And we can be too. Every calling, whatever it may be, is “His business” when embraced with a humble and willing heart and a desire to lift and comfort His children and share His good news.
We are not merely filling an assignment when we respond to an inspired call but joining the Saviour of the world in His infinite, redeeming work. He needs you, and He needs me. Life is better—everything is better—when we are about His business. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Today, we gratefully mark two years of Bountiful Mission—a journey rooted in faith, guided by the Savior, and strengthened by a united community.

We humbly acknowledge the hand of the Lord in all that has been accomplished. Through His grace, hearts have been touched, testimonies have grown, and lives have been blessed.

We express sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported, participated, and served in this mission. Your dedication and faith continue to build a community centered on Christ.

During the Saturday morning session of the April 2026 general conference, Latter-day Saints participated in a solemn assembly. They sustained President Dallin H. Oaks as prophet, seer, and revelator, along with the other members of the First Presidency, the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and other senior leaders in their respective roles.

“I express our gratitude as leaders of the Church for our members’ sustaining vote, prayers, and support,” President Oaks said at the beginning of the session. “We also pray for you to be guided and prospered as you continue the great service you give to the children of God throughout the world.”

During the 196th General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a Solemn Assembly will be held.
This phrase is older than you think.

“Solemn assembly” is a phrase from the Hebrew Bible that describes significant gatherings that occurred during Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles. The first temple in Jerusalem was dedicated during the time of a solemn assembly.

Solemn assemblies are special, sacred meetings held for a variety of holy purposes. They require Latter-day Saints to bring an elevated sense of spirituality with them into the meeting. These assemblies have included the sustaining of new Church presidents, the dedication of a temple or another significant building (such as the Conference Center), the introduction of new scripture, the instruction of priesthood leaders, and other special gatherings.

Join us at 10 a.m. MDT on April 4, 2026, for the Saturday morning session of general conference and solemn assembly as we sustain our prophet, Dallin H. Oaks.
