WORD OF THE MONTH (APRIL)

Alleluia beloved

We give all glory, honor, and gratitude to God Almighty for the gift of life and for bringing us into the month of April. We thank Him for His faithfulness, His mercy, and His unfailing love over us. As we step into this new month, may our hearts be open and receptive to His word, and may we be strengthened to walk fully in His will. This is a season to draw closer to God, to remain steadfast and to live a life that reflects His purpose.

Our scriptures are taken from Gospel of John 17:1–19 and Gospel of Matthew 21:1–11. In John 17, Jesus shows us that true glorification comes from obedience and completing the work God has given us. He glorified the Father not through status, but through faithfulness and surrender to His divine assignment. In Matthew 21, we see Jesus being celebrated as He enters Jerusalem, yet He comes in humility, riding on a donkey teaching us that even when honor comes, it must be carried with meekness and submission to God’s plan. Together, these passages remind us that true glory begins within, through obedience, before it is ever seen outwardly.

A question to all as we journey through this new month, let us pause and reflect: Are we truly living in obedience to God’s will, or are we following our own desires and are we willing to follow God’s path even it requires sacrifices and discomforts?

And I pray as we enter this new month, May He help us to walk in complete obedience to His will this month, in Jesus Christ name (Amen).

*Topic: Trust and the Joy of Resurrection*

In the Book of Psalms 16:5–11, the psalmist shows deep trust in God, believing that God will guide him, protect him, and not abandon him even in death. It’s highlights the joy and security found in staying close to God with hope in eternal life.

In the Gospel of Luke 24:1–10, the women discover that Jesus Christ has risen from the dead. Their sorrow turns into joy as they are called to share the good news. Together, both passages remind us that trusting God leads to life, hope and the joy of resurrection.

*GOOD FRIDAY*

*The Sacrifice of Jesus: Love and Redemption*
In Gospel of Mark 15:21–41, Jesus is crucified after suffering mockery and pain, with Simon of Cyrene helping carry His cross. Darkness comes over the land before He dies, and the temple curtain is torn, showing that His death opened the way for people to come closer to God. Even in His suffering, Jesus remained obedient and fulfilled God’s plan for salvation.

In Mark 15:42–47, Joseph of Arimathea buries Jesus in a tomb. These events show that Good Friday is about Jesus’ sacrifice, as He died out of love to bring forgiveness and salvation to humanity. His burial also prepares the way for the hope of His resurrection.

*Topic: Walking in the Light Through Humility*

In John 12:44–50 and Matthew 21:1–11, Jesus Christ shows that He is the light of the world and the true King, calling people to believe in Him and obey God’s word. The people praised Him during His entry into Jerusalem, teaching us to honor Him not just with words but with our lives.

In John 13:1–17, Jesus humbly washed His disciples’ feet, including Simon Peter, showing that true followers must serve others. This is remembered on Holy Thursday and connects to Holy Communion, reminding us of His sacrifice and teaching us to live in humility, love, and obedience.

*HOLY WEDNESDAY*

*Surrender, Truth and Faithfulness*
In Gospel of John 17:1–19, Jesus Christ prays to God just before His crucifixion, asking to be glorified through His obedience and sacrifice. He explains that eternal life is not just about living forever, but about knowing God personally. This shows that true glory comes through surrender to God’s will, not worldly success. During Holy Week, especially on Holy Wednesday, this reminds believers that Jesus was fully focused on fulfilling His mission, even in the face of suffering.

Jesus also prays for His disciples, asking God to protect them, keep them united, and sanctify them through truth. He emphasizes that they are “in the world but not of the world,” meaning they must live differently while still carrying out their mission. This teaches that believers are called to remain faithful, grounded in God’s word, and united with one another despite challenges or pressures. On Holy Wednesday, this connects to the theme of staying loyal to God, even when faced with temptation or betrayal.

*HOLY TUESDAY*

*Focus on Christ, Not People*
In 1 Corinthians 1:10–17, Paul the Apostle calls believers to remain united and avoid divisions caused by loyalty to human leaders. Christ alone is the foundation of faith. This connects with the story of the woman who anointed Jesus (see Matthew 26:6–13), where a woman pours costly oil on Jesus, showing wholehearted devotion while others criticize her. Both passages point to focusing on Christ above human opinions or status.

For Holy Tuesday, the lesson is to stay united in Christ and offer Him true and sacrificial love. Like the woman with the oil, believers are called to honor Jesus with their hearts, not to be distracted by criticism and to keep their focus on His sacrifice as the Cross approaches.

*HOLY MONDAY*

*The Cursing of the Fig Tree*
On the way to Jerusalem, Jesus Christ saw a fig tree with leaves but found no fruit on it. He then declared that no one would eat from it again. By the next day, the tree had withered.(Matthew 21vs19)

*Interpretation*
The fig tree is represented as a symbol of people (or even a nation) that appear outwardly faithful but lack true spiritual fruit. Jesus action serves as a warning against hypocrisy and empty religion. It teaches that genuine faith should produce results such as righteousness, obedience and a sincere relationship with God.

Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!

Today, we joyfully celebrate Palm Sunday, the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. As the crowds waved palm branches and shouted praises, they recognized Him as King, yet not the earthly king many expected, but a Savior who came in humility, peace, and love.

Palm Sunday invites us to reflect on the kind of King Jesus Christ is in our lives.

Today, we celebrate Palm Sunday, the triumphant entry of our Lord Jesus into Jerusalem. This is a day of joy, for as the psalmist reminds us, ‘This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it’ (Psalm 118:24).

Let us welcome Christ into our hearts with gladness singing “Hosanna in the highest!”

Hossanah!!!
