TOPIC: The Blessed Man

Bible Reading: Psalm 1:1–6
Memory Verse: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly.” — Psalm 1:1

Introduction

Everyone desires blessings, but Psalm 1 teaches us that blessings follow a pattern. The blessed life is not accidental—it is the result of godly choices.

The Message

Psalm 1 opens by describing the blessed man—not by what he has, but by what he avoids.
He does not:

Walk in the counsel of the ungodly

Stand in the way of sinners

Sit in the seat of the scornful

This shows a gradual process: walking, standing, then sitting.
If care is not taken, compromise slowly becomes a lifestyle.
Instead, the blessed man:

Delights in the law of the Lord

Meditates on God’s word day and night

Because of this, he is compared to a tree planted by rivers of water:

Always nourished

Always fruitful

Never dried up

Whatever he does prospers—not because life is easy, but because God is involved.
The wicked are not so. They are compared to chaff—unstable, rootless, and unable to stand in judgment. God knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly leads to destruction.

What this teaches us:

1. Blessing begins with separation.

Who you listen to matters.

2. God’s word determines stability.

Meditation brings strength and direction.

3. Consistency produces fruitfulness.

A planted life is a productive life.

4. Prosperity flows from obedience, not shortcuts.

5. God watches over the righteous path.

Nothing done in obedience is wasted.

Reflection Questions

Whose counsel influences my decisions?

Do I delight in God’s word daily?

Am I planted or drifting spiritually?

Prayer

Lord, plant me firmly in Your word. Help me to walk in righteousness and avoid ungodly counsel. Make my life fruitful, stable, and pleasing to You. Let everything I do prosper according to Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

MEMORY VERSE:
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee.”— Jeremiah 1:5

DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

There is no one whom God truly calls without clear signs of divine authority. Every genuine calling carries divine proof. In the same way, God called Moses Orimolade into sacred service and marked him with undeniable signs.

The first sign was his speaking from the womb and standing to speak on the day of his birth. This revealed that he was sent by God with a heavenly assignment, just as God separated Jeremiah, Samson, and John the Baptist from the womb.

Orimolade’s unusual hair symbolized his Nazarite consecration—a life wholly dedicated to God. Even human efforts could not alter what God had ordained. This teaches us that what God establishes cannot be destroyed by human hands.

When he fell sick for seven years, it was not unto death but for divine timing. At God’s appointed moment, an angel released three spiritual instruments into his life:

• The Staff — authority over battles and darkness

• The Authority of the Word — power to decree and it comes to pass

• The Crown — glory and worldwide impact of the Cherubim & Seraphim Church

His healing after seven years confirms that delay is not denial. God prepares His vessels deeply before public manifestation.

The many signs that followed—divine protection, supernatural provision, spiritual visibility, and the great feast for all believers—show that a man sent by God lacks nothing, for God supplies all.

LESSONS FOR CHRISTIANS

1. God knows His servants before birth – Your life is not an accident.
2. Divine calling comes with divine signs – Do not envy another’s path.
3. Delay builds depth – God matures His vessels in secret.
4. Provision follows obedience – Where God sends, He sustains.
5. Spiritual authority is greater than physical limitation – God works beyond human logic.

PRAYER

1. O Lord my God, fulfil Your divine purpose for my life, in the name of Jesus.
2. Every sickness, delay, or hidden battle assigned to stop my calling—expire by fire, in Jesus’ name.
3. Father, release upon me the authority of Your Word, that my declarations will carry power, in Jesus’ name.
4. O God of Moses Orimolade, crown my life with Your glory and let Your work through me speak across generations.
5. Lord, make me a vessel of blessing, that many will be fed—spiritually and physically—through my obedience.

CLOSING DECLARATION

“I am called, preserved, empowered, and crowned for God’s glory. My life shall fulfil divine purpose.”

The Lord Is My Shepherd

Bible Reading:
Psalm 23

Memory Verse:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” — Psalm 23:1

Introduction

In a world filled with fear, lack, and uncertainty, God reminds us that when He is our Shepherd, we are never alone and never abandoned.

The Message

David did not describe God as a distant ruler, but as a Shepherd—one who guides, protects, provides, and stays close.
When the Lord is your Shepherd:

You lack nothing — God supplies your needs

You are guided — He leads you beside still waters

You are restored — He refreshes your soul

You are protected — Even in the valley of the shadow of death

You are honored — He prepares a table before your enemies

David understood that life includes valleys and enemies, but God’s presence never leaves.
The rod and staff symbolize correction and comfort—God protects and directs at the same time.
The psalm ends with assurance:
Goodness and mercy shall follow me — not occasionally, but all the days of my life.

What this teaches us:

1. God is a personal Shepherd.

He knows you by name and watches over you daily.

2. Valleys are part of the journey, not the destination.

You pass through them—you do not remain there.

3. God’s presence removes fear.

Fear loses power when God walks with you.

4. God prepares blessings in the presence of opposition.

Your enemies will witness God’s goodness in your life.

5. Your future is secure in God.

You will dwell in His presence forever.

Reflection Questions

1.Do I truly trust God as my Shepherd?

2.Am I following His guidance daily?

3.Do I believe His goodness is pursuing me?

Prayer

Lord, be my Shepherd in every area of my life. Lead me, provide for me, restore my soul, and protect me. Remove fear from my heart and help me trust You completely. Let Your goodness and mercy follow me always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.🙏

TOPIC: Be Strong and Courageous

Bible Reading: Joshua 1:1–9
Memory Verse: “Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage.” — Joshua 1:9

Introduction

Every new season comes with new challenges, but God never sends you into a battle alone. When He calls, He equips. When He commands, He strengthens.

The Message

Moses had died. Israel was afraid. Their great leader was gone. The future looked uncertain.
But God spoke to Joshua with authority and assurance:

“Moses My servant is dead—now arise.”

“Every place the sole of your foot shall tread, I have given you.”

“I will not fail you nor forsake you.”

God did not want Joshua to lead with fear. He wanted him to lead with courage.
So three times He repeated the same command:
“Be strong and courageous.”
Why?
Because courage is not the absence of fear—
It is trusting God in the presence of fear.
God promised Joshua:

1. His Presence — “I will be with you.”

Where God is present, victory is certain.

2. His Power — “No man shall stand before you.”

Opposition cannot stop a God-backed assignment.

3. His Word — “This Book of the Law shall not depart from thy mouth.”

Boldness is sustained by Scripture.

4. His Prosperity — “You will make your way prosperous and have good success.”

Obedience produces results.

5. His Assurance — “Fear not.”

If God says “Fear not,” it means He already handled what you fear.

Reflection Questions

What is God asking me to step into with courage?

Am I relying on His presence or on my own strength?

Do I meditate on God’s Word daily as He commanded Joshua?

Prayer

Father, give me strength and courage for every assignment ahead of me.
Let Your presence go before me and surround me.
Fill my heart with boldness, silence every fear, and empower me to succeed.
I trust You completely. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

*TOPIC:* A Heart Ready to Serve

*Bible Reading:*
Acts 6:1–7

*Memory Verse:*
“But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.” — Acts 6:4

*Introduction*

Growth in the church brings blessings, but it also brings responsibilities. God wants believers not only to pray, but also to serve with a sincere heart.

*The Message*

As the early church increased in number, a problem arose: the Grecian widows complained that they were being neglected during the daily distribution of food.

The apostles understood that this was not a small issue. People were being hurt, and the harmony of the church was at risk.
But rather than allow the problem to scatter the church, they provided a spiritual solution:
They chose seven men with these qualities:

1.Honest report

2.Full of the Holy Ghost

3.Full of wisdom

Men who could serve faithfully while the apostles focused on prayer and the Word.

Among them was Stephen, a man full of faith and the Spirit. The apostles prayed and laid hands on these seven men. Immediately:

The word of God increased

The number of disciples multiplied

Even priests became obedient to the faith

*This shows that service in the church is spiritual work, not ordinary duty.*

*Lessons for Us:*

1. No church can grow without servants.

God blesses the church when people willingly serve.

2. Service requires character.

Honesty, wisdom, and the Holy Ghost matter more than talent.

3. Leaders must prioritize prayer and the word.

When pastors stay focused spiritually, the whole church benefits.

4. Problems can become opportunities.

When handled with wisdom, they lead to growth.

5. God uses ordinary people for extraordinary results.

Stephen was a servant, yet full of power and faith.

*Reflection Questions*

1.Where is God calling me to serve in the church?

2.Am I serving with honesty, wisdom, and the Holy Spirit?

3.Do I support my church leaders through prayer?

*Prayer*

Lord, give me a humble heart that is ready to serve.

Fill me with wisdom, honesty, and the Holy Spirit.

Bless our church with unity, growth, and spiritual strength.

Help our leaders to stay focused on prayer and Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

TOPIC: The Fear of God in the Church

Bible Reading: Acts 5:1–11
Memory Verse: “And great fear came upon all the church.” — Acts 5:11

Introduction

Many believers today want God’s blessings but ignore God’s holiness. Acts 5 reminds us that God is merciful, but He is also a God who cannot be mocked.

The Message

In the early church, believers sold their possessions to support one another. A man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of land. But unlike others, they agreed together to lie about the money they brought to God.
Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, confronted Ananias:
“Why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Ghost?”
The moment Peter finished speaking, Ananias fell down and died. Later, Sapphira came in, repeating the same lie. She too fell down and died instantly.
Great fear fell upon the entire church and all who heard the story.
Why did this happen?

Because God wanted the church to know that holiness is not optional

Because lying to God is a serious sin

Because the church must never pretend or seek human praise

After this, the apostles performed many miracles, and believers grew in number. God purified the church first, then increased it.

What this teaches us:

1. God sees every motive.

You can deceive people, but you cannot deceive Him.

2. Holiness is the foundation of spiritual power.

The church became stronger after God cleansed it.

3. Giving must be sincere.

God values truth more than the amount you give.

4. Satan attacks through deceit.

But the Holy Spirit exposes every hidden plan.

5. A church that fears God will walk in signs and wonders.

Reflection Questions

Is there anything in my life I am pretending about?

Do I give to God with sincerity, or for human praise?

Do I allow the Holy Spirit to purify my heart daily?

Prayer

Lord, purify my heart. Remove every form of deceit, pride, and pretense. Help me to walk in truth and holiness. Let Your fear dwell in me always, and strengthen Your church to stand in righteousness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

TOPIC: ST MOSES ORIMOLADE

Scripture Reading:
• Jeremiah 1:5 – “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Events During the Pregnancy of Moses Orimolade

Before Orimolade was conceived, many prophecies came from Ifa priests, herbalists, and elders saying that Tunolase would give birth to a child whose fame would spread and who would be greater than him. Tunolase himself, who was a powerful man, also saw in dreams that he would have a child greater than himself. This filled him with fear until his wife, Odijoroton, became pregnant.

During the pregnancy, many strange events happened. Sometimes the pregnancy would disappear from her stomach and later reappear. This meant the child left the womb and travelled. Sometimes he would be gone for three days before returning.

ORIMOLADE SPEAKS FROM THE WOMB

One day, Odijoroton was going to the farm. On the way, she hit her foot against a stone and suddenly heard, “Sorry my mother, be careful so you do not fall.” She was afraid, thinking spirits were greeting her. She began reciting incantations.

When she finished her work and tried to carry firewood that was too heavy, she heard again, “My mother, bend down so I can help you carry it.”

The woman gathered courage and asked, “Who is speaking to me?” She heard, “I am the child inside you. Do not fear. God sent me to comfort you. Bend and lift the load.” As soon as she touched the wood, it jumped onto her head.

She narrated everything to her husband. He thought spirits were troubling her and prepared charms, protective bands, and medicines. He took her to a senior herbalist. The herbalist explained that she would give birth to a mysterious, powerful, and famous child, and they must not hinder his coming because he was an angel of God.

A GREAT EVENT ON THE DAY MOSES ORIMOLADE WAS BORN

In 1879, Moses Orimolade was born. The day was filled with fear and wonder. Odijoroton fell into labor, and the famous midwife Jemisi Yun was invited but struggled to deliver the child.

Tunolase consulted Ifa, and it revealed that before she could deliver, the royal beads worn by King Olukare had to be placed on her neck.

They went to King Olukare, who released his coral beads. When the beads were placed on Odijoroton’s neck, she gave birth.

As people rejoiced, the newborn child—whose cord had not been cut—stood up from the blood and walked, looking at his reflection. The midwife had never seen such a thing. She tried to restrain him with her foot, but he stood again. They called his father, who struck him with charms. This caused the limp he later had, but God did not allow them to harm him.

After bathing him, many people came to see the mysterious baby. King Ajiboye, the reigning Olukare, came. As he entered, the newborn greeted him: “Welcome, come in, my father.” The King was shocked and gave him a gift.

Many others gave gifts, believing a deity had visited. Those seeking children, jobs, or healing prayed to him.

On the eighth day, the child was named Orimolade Okejebu. When he grew older, he named himself Moses. All this took place in 1879.

MOSES’ FATHER RAN AWAY FROM HIM

While others rejoiced, his father was troubled. He felt two masters could not share the same household and could not bear hearing that his son was greater than him. He sought help from the king, chiefs, and his cult, but none could help. He planned su***de, but elders begged him. He then decided to leave the house and ordered that the child be taken out.

A few days after the boy was removed, Tunolase fell sick. God spared him. They brought Moses back home until he recovered. Once well, he again ordered the child removed and left the house himself. He went to his mother’s house and vowed never to see Moses again before death.

Three years later, he fell ill again. Realizing he would die, he asked to be taken back to his own house. Shortly after arriving, he died.

MESSAGE FOR CHRISTIANS:

The story of St. Moses Orimolade reminds us that God works in mysterious ways. From the womb, Orimolade was guided by God’s plan. Christians should trust in God’s timing, obedience, and divine purpose. No matter the opposition or circumstances, God’s plan for His children will always prevail. Be encouraged to walk faithfully, serve God diligently, and trust that He has a purpose for your life—even before your birth.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father,
We thank You for Your divine plan and guidance in our lives. Just as You prepared Moses Orimolade for greatness even before his birth, prepare us, Lord, to fulfill the purpose You have set for us. Protect us from evil, guide our steps, and strengthen our faith.

May we trust in Your timing, walk in obedience, and shine Your light wherever we go. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.🙏

THE POWER OF GIVING THANKS

Text: Exodus 14

Scripture Reading: “The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” — Exodus 14:14

*MESSAGE*

Thanksgiving is not just what we do when God has finished a miracle; it is what we do to invite miracles.

When Israel stood before the Red Sea with the Egyptians behind them, they were filled with fear, complaints, and confusion. Yet God already had a plan of victory.

Many times, we behave like the Israelites—we focus on the problem instead of thanking God for the deliverance that is already prepared.

Thanksgiving shifts your eyes from the sea in front of you to the God who can part it.

Thanksgiving is an act of faith. It is the spiritual posture that says:

• “Lord, I may not see the way yet, but I thank You because You always make one.”

• “I may feel surrounded, but I thank You because You are my salvation.”

• “The battle looks bigger than me, but I thank You because You will fight for me.”

In Exodus 14, God did not tell Moses to cry—He told him to move forward.

Your thanksgiving is that forward movement.

When you give thanks:
• God steps into the battle.
• Fear loses its power.
• The impossible becomes possible.
• The sea opens and your enemies are drowned.

Thanksgiving is the voice that tells God: “I trust You.”

And God never disappoints those who trust Him.

*PRAYER POINTS*
1. Father, thank You for every battle You have already won for me.

2. Lord, give me a heart that sees Your goodness even in difficult times.

3. Every Red Sea before me—Father, make a way in Jesus’ name.

4. O Lord, let my life overflow with gratitude daily.

*CONFESSION*

*TOPIC:* “THE GOD WHO ARRANGES DESTINY”
*Text: Matthew 1:1–25*

*INTRODUCTION*

Nothing in Matthew 1 happened by accident.
The birth of Jesus shows us a God who plans, orders, and arranges every detail of our lives.
The genealogy is not random — it is proof that God controls history.
The virgin conception is not ordinary — it is proof that God overrides natural laws.
Joseph’s obedience is not forced — it is proof that God guides willing hearts.
Today’s devotion teaches one truth:

Your life is not accidental; it is arranged by a God who never makes mistakes.

1. *YOUR JOURNEY IS PART OF A BIGGER PLAN (Matthew 1:1–17)*

Matthew shows 42 generations — and yet every stage mattered:

-Seasons of promise (Abraham)

-Seasons of success (David)

-Seasons of captivity (Babylon)

-Seasons of silence (400 years before Jesus came)

God used all of it.

*Devotional Thought:*
There is no season in your life that God wastes.
Your successes and your struggles are all part of His plan.

2. *GOD IS WORKING EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T SEE ANYTHING (Matthew 1:17)*

Between the Old and New Testaments, Israel waited 400 years without a single prophecy.

No miracles.
No prophets.
No visions.

But God was quietly arranging the moment Jesus would arrive.

*Devotional Thought:*
Just because God is silent does not mean God is absent.
In the quiet seasons of life, God is doing His deepest work.

3. *GOD HAS A PURPOSE BEHIND EVERY INTERRUPTION (Matthew 1:18–20)*

Joseph’s life was interrupted by news he didn’t expect — Mary was pregnant.
But what looked like a problem was actually a divine plan.

Sometimes God interrupts your schedule to align you with destiny.
Devotional Thought:
Your disappointments can become God’s appointments.

4. *GOD STILL SPEAKS TO THOSE WHO LISTEN (Matthew 1:20–21)*

Joseph was confused, but God spoke to him in a dream.
God still speaks through:
– His Word
– The Holy Spirit
– Godly counsel
– Peace in your heart
– Warnings in your spirit
– Divine interruptions

*Devotional Thought:*
A quiet spirit hears God clearly.
The louder your environment, the harder it is to discern His voice.

5. *GOD’S INSTRUCTIONS ALWAYS COME WITH GOD’S ASSURANCE (Matthew 1:21)*

The angel didn’t give Joseph commands alone; he gave him comfort:
“You shall call His name JESUS,
for He will save His people from their sins.”

When God calls you to something difficult, He also gives you the grace to do it.

*Devotional Thought:*
God never sends you where His presence cannot keep you.

6. *GOD IS THE MASTER OF FULFILLING PROPHECY (Matthew 1:22–23)*

The birth of Jesus fulfilled Isaiah 7:14—spoken 700 years earlier.

Your life too is connected to prophecies spoken over you.
God does not forget His Word.

*Devotional Thought:*
What God said concerning you will come to pass — no matter how long it takes.

7. *GOD DOES HIS BEST WORK THROUGH OBEDIENT PEOPLE (Matthew 1:24–25)*

Joseph obeyed:

immediately,

completely,

and quietly.

He didn’t seek praise.
He didn’t try to explain himself.
He simply obeyed.
And because he obeyed, he became the earthly father of the Savior.

*Devotional Thought:*
Destiny opens for believers who obey without arguing.

*CLOSING REFLECTION*

Matthew 1 teaches that:
✔ God plans your life
✔ God arranges your steps
✔ God speaks in silence
✔ God works through interruptions
✔ God fulfills promises
✔ God rewards obedience
Nothing about your story is accidental.

You are in the hands of a God who never makes mistakes.

*PRAYER*

-Father, thank You for being the Master Planner of my life.
-Help me trust You when the path is unclear.
-Teach me to listen, to obey, and to wait.
-Arrange every detail of my destiny according to Your perfect plan.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.🙏

TOPIC: “WHEN GOD CHOOSES YOU”

Text: Matthew 1

INTRODUCTION

Matthew chapter 1 looks like “just a list of names” to many people, but it contains one of the most powerful messages in Scripture:

God can use anybody.

God can rewrite any story.

God can bring glory out of any family line.

Matthew begins the New Testament by reminding us that the Savior of the world came through ordinary people with imperfect stories — because God does not choose the qualified; He qualifies the chosen.

God does not choose the perfect,He perfected the choosen.

EXPOSITION

1. GOD USES IMPERFECT PEOPLE (Matthew 1:1–16)

The genealogy of Jesus includes:

Abraham – lied twice out of fear

Jacob – deceived his father

Tamar – involved in a scandal

Rahab – a pr******te

Ruth – a foreigner with no status

David – committed adultery and murder

Solomon – struggled with idolatry

Manasseh – a wicked king who later repented

Yet God used all of them to bring Jesus.

Devotional Thought:
If God can use them, God can use you too.
Your past does not disqualify you — grace does.

2. GOD CAN REWRITE ANY FAMILY STORY

Some families listed in Matthew 1 were:

broken,

messy,

sinful,

full of mistakes,

full of pain.

Yet God still brought Jesus through that family line.

Devotional Thought:
Your family history is not your destiny.
With Jesus in your life, the pattern ends and a new story begins.

3. GOD KEEPS PROMISES EVEN WHEN WE FAIL

From Abraham to David to the Babylonian captivity, the people in this genealogy failed many times — yet God’s promise never failed.

Devotional Thought:
Even when you are unfaithful, God remains faithful.

4. JOSEPH: A MODEL OF OBEDIENCE (Matthew 1:18–25)

Joseph teaches us two powerful lessons:

A. Joseph obeyed even when it was difficult

It was not easy to believe Mary’s pregnancy story.
It was not easy to protect a child he did not father.
But Joseph obeyed because he trusted God’s voice.

B. Joseph obeyed immediately

He did not argue.
He did not negotiate.
He did not delay.
“Joseph did as the angel of the Lord commanded him…” (Matthew 1:24)

Devotional Thought:
A believer’s greatness is hidden in simple obedience.

Obedience opens doors prayer cannot open.

5. JESUS IS IMMANUEL — GOD WITH US (Matthew 1:23)

Matthew ends the chapter with the greatest revelation:
We are not alone.
God is not far away.
God is WITH us.

Not “God against us.”
Not “God watching us.”
Not “God punishing us.”
But God with us.

Devotional Thought:
Every season of your life changes when you realize Jesus is with you, not against you.

DEVOTIONAL PRAYER

Father, thank You for the message in Matthew 1.

Thank You for choosing imperfect people like us.

Rewrite my story, renew my family, and help me obey like Joseph.

I receive Jesus — God with me — into every part of my life.

Amen.🙏

TOPIC:
WHEN THE BIBLE SAYS: “BE SILENT”

INTRODUCTION

Many believers today think they must respond to everything.

They think every comment needs a reply…
every insult needs a comeback…
every situation needs their voice.
But the Bible teaches the opposite.

Proverbs 21:23 says:
“Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from trouble.”

Sometimes, the greatest strength a believer can show is silence.
Not every question needs an answer.
Not every provocation needs a response.
Not every situation needs your voice.
Proverbs 17:28 says:
“Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent.”

Today, we will explore biblical situations where God instructs us to keep quiet,
and how silence can protect your destiny, your relationships, your peace, and your witness as a Christian.

Exposition

1. BE SILENT WHEN THE MATTER IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS

Proverbs 26:17–25
The Bible compares a person who gets involved in issues that don’t concern him
to someone who grabs a dog by the ears.

In other words:
You will get bitten.
Not everything requires your involvement.
Some situations are not your assignment.

Mind your lane and you will keep your peace.

2. BE SILENT IN THE HEAT OF ANGER

Proverbs 14:7
When emotions are high, wisdom is low.
Angry words are like arrows—once they leave your mouth, you cannot take them back.

Silence during anger is not weakness;
it is self-control,
and self-control is a fruit of the Spirit.

3. BE SILENT WHEN YOU HAVEN’T VERIFIED THE STORY

Deuteronomy 17:6; Proverbs 18:13
Half-truths destroy relationships.

Assumptions cause misunderstandings.

Speaking without facts leads to regret.
The Bible says:

“He who answers a matter before he hears it,
it is folly and shame to him.” — Prov 18:13

If you don’t know the facts, stay silent until you do.

4. BE SILENT WHEN IT IS TIME TO LISTEN

God gave us two ears and one mouth to show that listening is more important than speaking.
You learn more when you are quiet.

You understand people better when you listen.
You grow spiritually when you hear God first before responding.
James 1:19 says:

“Be quick to listen, slow to speak.”

5. BE SILENT IF YOUR WORDS WILL OFFEND A WEAKER PERSON OR FLATTER THE WICKED

1 Corinthians 8:11; Proverbs 24:24
Some words can hurt the conscience of a weaker brother.

Some praise can strengthen a wicked person.

If your words will mislead someone or give wrong support to evil,
the Bible says: keep quiet.
Silence can protect others from falling.

6. BE SILENT IF YOU MAY BE ASHAMED OF YOUR WORDS LATER

Proverbs 8:8; Proverbs 18:21
Words live longer than feelings.

You may calm down later, but your words will remain.

Before speaking, ask yourself:
“Will I be proud of these words tomorrow?”
If the answer is no, remain silent today.

7. BE SILENT WHEN TEMPTED TO LIE

Proverbs 4:24
Let your “Yes” be “Yes” and your “No” be “No.”
If you feel tempted to exaggerate, twist the truth, or hide the truth,
silence is safer than sin.
A closed mouth cannot lie.

8. BE SILENT IF YOUR WORDS WILL DAMAGE A FRIENDSHIP, FAMILY, OR SOMEONE’S REPUTATION

Proverbs 6:28; 1 Peter 2:21–23; Ecclesiastes 5:2; Proverbs 14:9
Words can destroy people.
Words can break trust.
Words can misrepresent Christ.
If what you want to say will:

break someone’s reputation

tear down your family

mock holy things

make fun of sin

give the wrong impression of Christ
…then keep silent.
Silence can be holiness.

There many biblical stories which show moments where silence was the wisest, most powerful, or most God honoring response.

When Jesus was falsely accused by the Pharisees and Pilate:

He was insulted

Lied on

Provoked

Pressured to explain Himself

Yet the Bible says:

> “But Jesus remained silent.” — Matthew 26:63

Why?

Because not every accusation deserves a response.
Because silence can be dignity.
Because silence can be obedience.
And because Jesus committed His case to God, not to man.

9. BE SILENT WHEN YOU ARE FEELING CRITICAL OR ABOUT TO SCREAM

James 3:9; Proverbs 25:28; Proverbs 19:13
Angry words are damaging words.
Critical words can crush a spirit.
Repeated nagging destroys peace.
The Bible says a person without control over his mouth
is like a city with broken walls.

Silence restores control.
Silence protects relationships.
Silence allows God to help you speak the right words at the right time.

CONCLUSION

Silence is not weakness.
Silence is wisdom.
Silence is protection.
Silence is obedience.
A guarded tongue is a guarded soul.
God is calling us to a higher level of maturity.
A level where we don’t have to respond to everything,
react to everything,
or speak into everything.
Let us pray for the grace to know when to speak
and when to stay silent.

Prayer

Say:
“Lord, set a guard over my mouth.
Let my words honor You.
Teach me when to be silent,
and teach me when to speak.
Help me represent Christ with my tongue.”
Amen. 🙏
