Enhance your character, my friend,
Prosperity could depart from one’s home,
And beauty could retreat from people’s bodies.

Today’s rich could become poor tomorrow,
Opulence is like ocean’s surfs; it is like ocean’s waves,
They come and go from one’s home as they please;
But, only good character follows one to the grave.

Money is not everything to anyone,
Good character is the beauty of a mortal,
What if you are wealthy without good character?
Who would trust you with something serious?

Perhaps, you are a gorgeous woman,
If you are far from societal norms,
Who would marry you as a wife?

Or you are a fraudulent person,
May be you are well educated;
Who would transact business with you?

Enhance your character, my friend,
In the absence of character, education is a waste;
The whole world appreciates a well-mannered person.

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. (1Tim. 2:19)

Specifically, this refers to how women dressed and cared for their hair. Then, as now, church gatherings were not an appropriate time to dress seductively or for attention. Clothing styles vary, and tastes change based on time and culture. All the same, how women (and men) dress should be appropriate for worship of God. Paul's point is not that certain hairstyles are necessarily sinful; rather, the message and the motives are. In the culture of Ephesus, braided hair was a luxurious status symbol. In that era, it required much time and financial costs. This was the equivalent of modern hairstyles requiring significant time and cost. Those who put so much energy into hairstyles suggest that their emphasis is on themselves, rather than on worshiping God.

God bless you!

PAYING THE PRICE

20/08/2022

I have often wondered about adverts for major RCCG programs at Redemption Camp in which you will find: “ministering: Pastor EA Adeboye and other anointed ministers of God”. The “other anointed ministers of God” would not be named ahead of time even when they were very well-known figures.

Similarly, in the early days of Mount Zion Film Productions, you would find that almost all the movies were “written, produced and directed by Mike Bamiloye”.

It has taken me several years of being a founder and running a business to understand why.

Guest ministers can have emergencies and excuses may come up. But regardless of who shows up and who doesn’t, you should expect that Pastor Adeboye will be there.

He has shown up since Holy Ghost Service started. He was there before Redemption Camp was purchased, was there when it was a bush, was there when it began to expand, and is still there when it is attracting millions of people every month. He was even there to preach when his son died days before Holy Ghost Service and many ignorant people online were laughing at him.

After running Twim Institute for nine years, I have found out that the one person you really can count on especially at the start is you. If God is merciful to you and gives you a wife that shares your vision as mine does, then maybe you can start with the two of you.

It’s okay to be the writer, producer, and director. Let’s add chief financier and publicist too 😊

But you have to “be not weary in well doing because, in due season, you will reap if you faint not”.

You see, RCCG is 70 years old.

Pastor Adeboye has been General Overseer for 41 years.

It takes time!

Am I saying that you don’t need other people for your vision to succeed? Absolutely not!

I am saying that regardless of who leaves or who stays, who contributes or doesn’t, who encourages or discourages, who commends or criticizes… you are the Daddy G.O of your ministry. God handed it over to you.

Show up. Every single time. Show up sick, show up hungry, show up broke, show up discouraged… but show up.

Daddy G.O., show up!

PS: If you are at that stage where you seem to be the only one showing up, relax. It’s a phase. Soon, your vision will attract the right people. The issue is that it will never attract them if you do not consistently show up.

Theme: WALK WORTHY OF YOUR CALLING
By: Pastor Gideon Gil
Text: Colossians 1:9-18

Introduction:
1. The most important goal to have in life is to please God –Ec 12:13
2. Paul urged Christians to “Walk worthy of their calling”.

Proposition:
We must walk worthy of our calling to please the Lord

Interrogative: What does Paul say about the walking in a worthy manner?

Transition:
To walk in a worthy manner we must…

I.GROW IN KNOWLEDGE -1:9-11

A.WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE
1. People are destroyed –Hosea 4:6.
2. Example: Uzza -1Ch 13.

B.CONTINUE TO GROW IN KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM
1. The difference –Example of learning to drive.
2. The application – Jesus dealt wisely with the Scriptures –Mt 4:1-11.

II.REMEMBER WHAT OUR LORD HAS DONE - 1:12-14

A.WE MUST REMEMBER
1.Jesus set us free from sin –vs. 14.
2. Example: Israel was to remember freedom from Egypt –De 8:11-20.

B.WHY WE REMEMBER
1. The memory helps us resist temptation –Ro 6:20-23.
2. We think back and have no desire to return to sin.
“Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and
cost you more than you want to pay.” -Unknown

III.RECOGNIZE THE PREEMINENCE OF CHRIST – 1:15-18

A.OVER NATURE
1. Power to calm the storm at sea –Mt 8:23-27
2. Power of voice belongs to Deity only.
a. Jesus raised the dead by calling to them –Luke 7:14, Jn 11:43
b. His followers were hands on:
1) Paul – (fell on him and embraced him) –Ac 20:10
2) Elijah – (stretched over him 3x’s) -1Ki 17:21
3) Elisha – (stretched over him) -2Ki 4:34-35

B.OVER HIS CHURCH
1. All authority comes from Jesus –Mt 28:18.
2. He is firstborn from the dead.
a. Others have died and came back to life as seen above.
b. Jesus is the first to die and be raised never again to die –He 7:23-25.

Conclusion:

1.Because of Christ, we have freedom from sin and the fear of death.

2.Our desire should always be to walk worthy of our calling that we may please our Lord.
May God Bless us al

To You Who Are In The Ministry

Please be reminded,

While it is true that busyness doesn't always mean productivity, it can also be very true that having a ministry doesn't always mean spirituality.

We are apt to think that when a person is being involved in ministries, he is becoming more spiritual. While this can be one of the many manifestations of growth coming from the desire to serve God, having a ministry doesn't guarantee spirituality.

You can be leading others while your own spirit you cannot control and lead.
You could be singing in the choir and yet not having a heart that is really praising God.
You could be teaching others while you yourself aren't learning from what you are teaching.
You could be winning souls but behind it is that subtle desire to be admired.
You could be preaching already but are failing to practice that which you preach.
You could be so busy doing that you forget, the ministry is also about "being."

You could look so spiritual with all your public ministry performances and yet so carnal within your private life's allegiances.

This is one of the most dangerous pitfalls of having a ministry: forgetting that the heartbeat of it is in its motives of glorifying God. And when the motive isn't right, anything done, no matter how beautifully they were performed, is but a mask hiding the reality of what is happening inside the heart.

What could be happening inside one unexamined heart while in the parade of its ministries?

The worst.

It could be at its worst state of self-deception believing that he is still pleasing God when the truth is, none of his works, when they go through the fire of God's furnace of testings, will count as gold but will be burned to nothingness as they were but impurities.

It could be at its darkest state of blindness towards its spiritual decay thinking he's still running on the race he was called to when in reality, he is competing carnally for an earthly trophy of men's applause. He could win it, but what gain will it be compared to a reward eternal?

It could be at its soul's scarcest drought, being deprived of the abundance of the real blessedness that comes from an intimate fellowship with his God. He is so busy with his accomplishments he forgot that the real accomplishment of one's soul is God Himself, not his fruitfulness, not his usability, not his legacy, but having the reward of each of life's unhurried moments alone with God.

It could be that person you actively see in church, it could be you.

It could be any one of us if we will not be careful to remind ourselves from time to time that just because you have a ministry doesn't mean you are living a life of spirituality.

Let's make it a rule to ourselves to always view our spiritual progress and productivity not by our accomplishments, but in the light of our intimacy towards the One whom we tend to forget to be the heartbeat of our ministry - that above all, we stay in love with our God.

Because anything that is done in love for God remains.
