A Conversation That Matters. A Dialogue That Inspires.

Today on The Conversation on Lagos Television, meaningful insights were shared as Rev'd Bukola Adeleke, Special Adviser to the Governor on Christian Matters, joined Dr. Ahmad Abdullahi Jebe, Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Matters, for a thought-provoking discussion on *Religion and Participatory Democracy in Lagos."

The conversation highlighted the vital role faith communities play in strengthening democracyโ€”not through politics, but by nurturing values of integrity, accountability, peace, justice and active citizenship.

Some of the key questions addressed included:
๐Ÿ”น What is participatory democracy, and why should every citizen be involved?
๐Ÿ”น Can religion strengthen democratic values without becoming political?
๐Ÿ”น How can religious leaders encourage civic responsibility while remaining non-partisan?
๐Ÿ”น What role do faith communities play in promoting peaceful coexistence in a diverse state like Lagos?
๐Ÿ”น How can young people become more engaged in governance and community development?

One of the strongest takeaways from today's discussion was that democracy extends beyond Election Day. It is reflected in how citizens engage with their communities, obey the law, contribute to development, and work together across religious and cultural differences.

As both speakers emphasized, Lagos continues to demonstrate that religious diversity is a strength when anchored on mutual respect, dialogue and a shared commitment to the common good.

Thank you to everyone who tuned in live on Lagos Television and joined the conversation across our digital platforms. Together, we can continue building a Lagos where faith inspires responsible citizenship and democracy works for everyone.
