“… Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest.” – Jeremiah 3:5 KJV

The act of doing evil is based on the premise that we can. The nature of darkness that clouds the heart of men is what gives the justification of the act of evil and sin. The power of the darkness is the ability to establish lies that can’t be proven true, thus, since the proposition that justifies the act of evil can’t be proven false, we accept it as the truth and accept the act of evil

We do evil things as we are able, this is what distinguishes a person’s sinful nature from the other’s. This person commits the sin of murder because he can, the other person sees him and condemns him as a wicked killer, but this other person is also indulging in fornication because he can. They both deceive themselves as they are being deceived. They are both being led in the darkness in the path of sin, but each person in the specific course they are made to walk on (Eph.2:2,3).

When a premise that justifies sin and evil works is proven wrong, the truth is revealed, and thus, we wouldn’t be able to accept a false premise. When we can’t, we won’t. The light of GOD’s love became the great light that eliminated the darkness that has kept us in bo***ge to lies (Jn.8:12), and the Holy Spirit becomes the justifier of the new life of GOD in us, confirming that we are not evil, neither are we children of the devil anymore, but we are now children of GOD (Rom.8:16), because there is a power that makes us sons and daughters of GOD in CHRIST JESUS (Jn.1:12).

The Spirit of GOD is the guide that leads the Christian in the true path of the life of GOD. There is a new premise that justifies the life of GOD in the Christian: CHRIST JESUS has died to give us life, HE took our place on the cross that by the amazing grace HE released by HIS sacrifice on the cross, we can claim HIS righteousness in faith, been set free from sin and evil, we can now lead a new life of sons and daughters of the most High GOD. Thus, we are not evil and sinful beings, rather, we are the beloved children of GOD.

“For ye have not received the spirit of bo***ge again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” – Romans 8:15 KJV

Our life as Christians is beyond ourselves, because it extends to everyone around us, family or neighbors, friends or foes, kinsmen or non-kinsmen, acquaintance or strangers. Thus, as the life of a Christian dwells around a good relationship with GOD, it also dwells around the right relationship with everyone around us.

The conquering power of light is well observed where there is darkness.

As Christians in this world, we are the light that should light up the darkness in this world through good works, only by this can we show forth the glory of GOD (Matt.5:14,16). A very powerful factor that grooms Christians that shines as a very bright light that overcomes the darkness of this world, is LOVE. Love produces good works, by which we glorify GOD. A loving heart won't be selfish, nor self-centered, such heart isn't the heart of a brawler or a rebellious one, such heart won't discriminate, neither will it hate, it won't live in malice, envy, and anger, rather, it is meek to everyone, gentle, and caring, it will always execute equity and justice, such a heart is kind and sees the good in everyone, it isn't rebellious against rulers and authorities, but is ready to do every good work. It is a heart that stands for the truth always, and resists the darkness at all times, he overcomes evil with good and never allows evil to get the better of him. This is the heart of love of a true Christian, influencing his world as a light that shines so bright in the darkness.

We are not to withdraw ourselves from the world because of its sinfulness and evil works, rather, we are to walk into it as a light that is ready to fight against the darkness to bring people to the light, because we know that we were once in the darkness, but the love of CHRIST found us and brought us out of the darkness, not by our works, but according to HIS mercy has HE saved. Let's bring this saving love to those in the world, that they can also see this great light, and be saved. Thus, the calling for all Christians is to SHINE THE LIGHT, SO THAT THOSE IN THE DARKNESS MAY SEE THE LIGHT, AND BE SAVED, BEING TRANSFORMED BY THE POWER OF GOD's LOVE.

"Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, to speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;" - Titus 3:1‭-‬6 KJV

THE GRACE THAT CAME THROUGH JESUS

So you, my son, be strong [constantly strengthened] and empowered in the grace that is [to be found only] in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 2:1 AMP

GRACE is the access to the abundant life of GOD, that we had lost since the fall, through a free pass, which was paid for by our Lord JESUS’ sacrifice. The life of GOD, which is characterized by the life of the nature of GOD, became a gift to men who has lived all their lives in depravity as a result of the sinful nature that plagued humanity and put them to death (cut off from the life of GOD – Gen.2:7,17).

The need for Grace came as a result of the enslavement of humanity to sin and the evil nature through the power of death by the devil. The power of death was given to the devil when man ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and awakened the evil consciousness in them ignorantly, being deceived by the devil (Gen.3:3-7).

The awakening of the evil consciousness put man to death (cut them off from the life of GOD – Rom.7:9). The evil consciousness, which was a result of the corruption of creation by the devil’s evil existence, gave the devil control over the minds of men to influence evil thoughts and acts (Eph.2:2,3). This control is the “Power of Death”.

Humanity couldn’t pay the price to be free from this enslavement, the price was greater than what they could ever pay, because perpetual and absolute DEATH is the wages of sin, but the gift of GOD is eternal life through JESUS CHRIST our Lord (Rom.6:23), this is what Grace brings. Grace came when our Heavenly Father, moved by love, sent HIS only begotten Son, JESUS CHRIST, who came to destroy the works of the devil (1Jn.3:8), and also, took on the body of corruption (flesh), as men, that HE might destroy him who had the power of death, and delivered humanity from bo***ge (Heb.2:14,15). This is the Grace that came to us through our Lord JESUS CHRIST (Eph.2:8).

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” – Ephesians 2:8 KJV. Faith allows the working of Grace in our life, we say that, THE MUCH YOU RECEIVE FROM THE ABUNDANT GRACE OF GOD IS A MEASURE OF YOUR FAITH IN GOD. Grace goes beyond salvation as salvation is just the beginning of the working of GOD’s grace in your life. Grace grants us full access to the life of GOD: purified and set apart for divine holiness; shining as the glory of GOD; empowerment by the Spirit of GOD in us; the abundance of HIS goodness of healing, provision, and great miracle.

Increasing in faith leads to increase in the work of Grace in ones life. So, we are charged here, Increase and strengthen your faith in CHRIST to increase the work of Grace in your life. Grace is sufficient for the empowerment and strengthening of the man of GOD for total perfection without any thing lacking.

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

GOD will throw you into the fire because HE knows you will survive it, and, to survive, is not to barely survive, but it is to survive to thrive better than usual.

GOD said, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." - Jeremiah 29:11 KJV. GOD's thought towards us at times can't be understood by our minds, "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are [GOD's] ways higher than [our] ways, and [GOD's] thoughts than [our] thoughts." - Isaiah 55:9 KJV, we can never fathom HIS thought most times, but, most times, GOD LIKES TO DO THE THINKING FOR YOU, all HE wants you to do most times is to BELIEVE AND TRUST IN HIM WITHOUT ANY DOUBT (Job.13:15).

THE MESSAGE OF THE JOB STORY: GOD’s DEBATE WITH THE DEVIL – Job 1:6-12

Many views this passage in a way that misinforms the proper concept of the scenario here. Many views it as a case where the devil came to GOD in a rather peaceful condition than in a hostile one as we know of the conflict between GOD and the devil. Many concluded that GOD and Satan were having a seemingly peaceful conversation where GOD gambled with the life of Job with little care for him, on the basis that GOD can choose to do whatever pleases HIM. This view significantly sways our attention from the real message passed here.

“and Satan came also among them… “ – Job 1:6, Satan came before GOD as an accuser of the people of GOD, and primarily to taunt GOD who has created man for HIS ultimate purpose. After the fall of man, and the beginning of the devil’s rule of darkness in the kingdom of men, to work all evil works through them, this being contrary to the life ordained for them from creation – the life of GOD, which makes them into the image and likeness of GOD (Gen.1:26;2:7).

The ultimate purpose of GOD was to purge all creation of the existence of evil and darkness that has plagued it – the ultimate redemption of creation (Rom.8:21). GOD, making man HIS prime creation through whom HE will fulfill this purpose, proclaiming the blessings upon him, “… be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it… “ – Gen. 1:28, the devil figured that the purpose of the creation of man was to eliminate the existence of evil and replenish the whole creation with the light of the glory of GOD. So he went after man, and corrupted him to eliminate the life of GOD in them and awaken the nature of evil in them – the death referred to in Genesis 2:17.

Especially when GOD reveals HIS ultimate purpose for the creation of man in that HE will raise a Savior from the seed of the woman, who will crush the devil (Gen.3:15), the devil relentlessly went after the children of man to ensure that no seed of the woman will be able to rise up to fulfill this purpose of crushing him. This has been the conflict (Rev.12:3,4).

The debate between GOD and the devil in this passage of job is one of those debates when the devil comes to taunt GOD, challenging HIM to show him (the devil) what HE (GOD) has to challenge him with, claiming that he has the whole earth under his surveillance (Job 1:7NLT), and that he is able to ensure the continuity of the existence of evil and darkness, and the continuous enslavement of humanity to the sinful nature, and the prevention of the emergence of the seed of the woman that will crush him. The devil is simply just full of himself.

GOD likes to prove to Satan in times like this that HE is more than able to raise a light that will extinguish the darkness and the evil existence of the devil, and that HE will surely fulfill the ultimate redemption of humanity, and that even if it’s just one man that is left on earth that walks uprightly before HIM, such person is enough to fulfill this purpose (Job 1:8). So, GOD challenged the devil will Job, an upright man and perfect before GOD (there was none like him on earth then), to prove that the devil can never win, even if the world just had one Job.

Those that fears GOD and walk uprightly before HIM have their lives preserved in GOD, the devil can’t touch their lives. Although, all they have may be used as a tool for tribulation and temptation, the most important thing was never all those things a man of GOD possesses, rather, it is his life in GOD. That was why GOD gave all that Job has, even his children, into the hands of the devil, but denied the devil Job’s life (Job 1:12;2:6), to show that Job doesn’t need all those things to overcome the devil, Job’s life in GOD and his uprightness is enough proof that he can withstand the devil in this evil world and be immovable in GOD, whatever the circumstances.

Job overcame the devil, even when the devil took everything from him. Job proved that a life in GOD is the overcomers’ life and not a life that will cowardly surrender to the devil when such a tribulation comes. Surely, we are more than conquerors through CHRIST that loves us (Rom.8:37).

GOD is seeking for people like Job, whose faith in HIM is like a precious gold, tried with a great fire, to only be made purer, brighter and stronger (1Pet.1:7), people in whom GOD can trust and boast confidently in, that, as long as the world still has them in it, there is a sure hope for the redemption of creation, and the devil will never win.

The world may be filled with darkness, but, this is a true saying, if everyone in the world has joined with darkness, there will always remain, at least, one person that will stand with the light. If it’s just one person, he/she is just who GOD needs to replenish the earth with the light of HIS glory and fulfill HIS ultimate purpose of redemption of all creation.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

TEMPTATION IS ALWAYS WITHIN YOUR CAPACITY

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV

Temptation is a very important aspect of a Christian life development. In the process of development in life, there is usually a time evaluation of the growth process, this is usually done through tests or trials. When the results from the trials comes out positive, that shows that the development is coming up well.

The intensity of the trial depends on the capacity of the tried, because the aim of trials is to improve the strength capacity of the tried, so that development may be effectively monitored, and to prepare it for greater functioning. This is why we should count it joy when we fall into divers temptations (Jas.1:2), because this is to evaluate our growth and development in CHRIST, and it marks our progress in the faith, forging us for perfection as we progress.

*Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” - 1 Corinthians 10:12 KJV. This is why trials are important, it is an important process of evaluation of our current stand in the faith and also our shortcomings and weaknesses, in order to improve in them and be better than previously. Times of trials are not times of lamentations, murmurings, dejection or regrets, but they are times to improve in ones faith and strength.

Our performance in trials depends on how we exercise ourselves in the faith, our response to trials is dependent on how much we have invested in the Christian life growth factors: the study of the word of GOD (1Pet.2:2), exercising in godliness (1Tim.4:7,8), exercising in the works of faith and in the works of the Spirit (Gal.5:22-25). And our success in trials is a product of the effective implementation of Grace and knowledge of GOD we get from exercising ourselves in the faith.

People fail in trials because of lack of knowledge and patience (Jas.1:3-5). Knowledge is an indispensable product of good growth in CHRIST (2Pet.3:18). Knowledge enlightens you to understand what the contents of the trial are, this will facilitate the right application of godly wisdom in trials. Patience help to fulfill the purpose of the trial, it’s just like In the purging of a precious stone in the furnace, the process requires a great level of patience for the perfection of the purging process of the precious stone (Jas.1:3,4).

Failure to pass a trial will hinders progress in good Christian development. It shows inadequacy and poor development, such a person can’t continue to the next level in faith. As a result of this, many Christians remain stagnant and are not growing. And this is very dangerous, because a Christian that is not growing is likened to a dead one, he is not growing roots deep into the foundation, so he can easily be removed.

GOD will definitely not tempt us beyond what we are capable. If you find yourself in a trial, it’s because you have been provided with all that is needed to overcome it, the question then is, are you/did you make use of the provision needed for growth in the Grace and knowledge of GOD? You can’t give what you refuse to have. Exercise yourself in the faith, prepare everyday for trials, and don’t be ignorant. Also, allow patience to have her perfect work, the purpose and solution of the trial is In the trial, for GOD will always make a way to escape in every trial. Patiently bear it to be made perfect, wanting nothing.

Failure in trials is not because the trial is greater than what we could handle, it’s simple because we did not handle it as we should because the trial is always within our capacity.

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

THE SPIRIT IN US – THE SONS/DAUGHTERS OF GOD

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7 KJV

Who do you say a son/daughter of GOD is?
This is a very important question for all Christians, because who you define a son/daughter of GOD as becomes your own reflection as a son/daughter of GOD. Many has defined a child of GOD in many ways, in fact, many allow things around them define who a child of GOD is, but most times, these definitions, though, they may not be all wrong, but they limit the potential of the child of GOD.

Many Christians have allowed fear to define who they are: fear of what people might think or do, fear of failures (“I can’t do it”), fear of disappointment (“what if it doesn’t turn out as I believe, what if GOD didn’t do it?”), fear of the world (“the world is a very evil place, they are full of evil works, I can’t afford to offend them, it’s best to be on good terms with them rather than being on bad terms”), fear of the power of sin and of the devil (“I don’t think I can ever be free from this little besetting sin, I just can’t fight it”, “If the devil will come against me, I don’t know if I can survive it”), fear to preach the gospel, and many more reasons that constitutes fears in the heart of the Children of GOD.

Being defined by fear, a Christian limits himself: if he allows the fear of failure to define him, he will not have success, if it’s fear of disappointment that defines him, he won’t be able to see past disappointments in life, if it’s the fear of the world, he will not conquer the world, if it’s fear of sin and of the devil, he will never overcome that besetting sin and the devil, if it’s the fear of what people might think or do, he will become a servant of the men of the world instead of being a servant of GOD. So, as a result of this, the son/daughter of GOD is defined wrongly, or, at times, inadequately. Then, we ask this question, what appropriately defines a Christian?

“The Spirit Himself testifies and confirms together with our spirit [assuring us] that we [believers] are children of God.” – Romans 8:16 AMP, this is who defines the Christian as the person he should be in CHRIST, expressing the full potential of the son/daughter of GOD, the Spirit of GOD.

The Spirit of GOD in the Christian confirms the adoption as Children of GOD (Rom.8:15). Being a Christian is not religion, but adoption, and when we say adoption, we see a Father, taking full responsibility for HIS Child, always desirous of the best for him/her, and will do anything for him/her. So the Child don’t have to do things by himself/herself, HE will do everything for him/her. This becomes the life of the Christian, the Spirit of GOD in him is the presence, power, and glory of GOD in the Christian, the Spirit of GOD in the Christian is the power working in the Christian and quickens the Christian to be equipped with GOD’s strength, power, authority, greatness, and glory. It’s all by the Spirit, that is why GOD said, “…Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” - Zechariah 4:6 KJV

The Children of GOD are defined by the Spirit of GOD, not as people of fear, but has people of love, and of sound mind, and as people of the power of GOD. Looking past those limitations, we look to GOD, fix our heart on GOD, stir up the Spirit in us and derive strength, power, authority, confidence, and auction from within. Because our glory, greatness and potential is not in our physical strength or ability, it’s in the Spirit of GOD. “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee…” - 2 Timothy 1:6 KJV

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

OUR FAITH OVERCOMES THE WORLD

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

1 John 5:4 KJV

Overcomes of the world – what does it mean to overcome the world? These are people that have triumphed over the corruption of this world, been made free, they are no longer influenced by the corruption of this world.

The corruption of the world was a result of the infection of the existence of evil – Satan, “For the creature was made subject to vanity…” - Romans 8:20 KJV, ever since the beginning of creation, the devil being the existence of evil, pursued just one thing, to corrupt all GOD’s glorious work of creation, and GOD knows about this. When the world was created, it was corrupted by the devil, so that the evil nature can be manifested in all earthly creations.

GOD formed man, HIS prime creation, from the dust of the earth (Gen.2:7), dust being a material of corruption, so that after man was formed of dust, he had no life in him, but the breath of GOD gave him the life of GOD that made him a living SOUL, but the body was still dead (the flesh), that was why GOD instructed man to avoid eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, so as to not wake the consciousness of evil that will awaken the evil nature, which will mean death (Gen.2:17).

Unfortunately, the devil deceived Eve, and this led man to eat the fruit of the forbidden tree, so, they awakened the evil nature, “And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked…” - Genesis 3:7 KJV. Ever since then, everyone born into this world were put under the bo***ge of this corruption. It started with Cain, who manifested envy, hatred, and murder, and it increased through the generations of man, it got so bad that it was said in Gen.6:12, “And God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.”.

Was GOD just watching as it went all bad? No, there was a plan of redemption from the very beginning “For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bo***ge of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.” Romans 8:20‭-‬21 KJV.

And this is the redemption prepared since the foundation of the world, the promise GOD made reference to when HE told the devil directly that, “and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” - Genesis 3:15 KJV, the promise of redemption that was continually emphasized ever since Abraham’s calling till the time of the prophets, the promise of redemption that was finally manifested when the Word became flesh (Jn.1:14), the promise of redemption whose answer is the precious blood of JESUS shed for humanity, as a lamb without blemish and spot, foreordained before the foundation of the world (1Pet.1:18-20).

JESUS conquered the devil and his corruption on the cross, putting it to death, and rose up victoriously from death, that whosoever will believe and accept HIS finished work of redemption, they shall not perish anymore, but will have eternal life in JESUS CHRIST (Jn.3:16). This is the victory in CHRIST, and we, the saved in CHRIST, are the OVERCOMERS OF THE WORLD through faith in JESUS CHRIST (Rom.6:6,9,11).

The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. - 1 Corinthians 15:56‭-‬57 KJV

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

1 John 5:5 KJV
