GAMBLING is one of the factors responsible for su***de in the world today. It makes people lose within seconds or minutes, valuables and money that took them years to get.

GAMBLING is destroying the world. It is killing the dreams of our youths.

It is unfortunate that people who claim to believe in God also engage in it. We now see Muslim men and women confidently going to betting shops to bet on sports and other things.

Our youths are becoming increasingly addicted to betting offline and online. Betting has become as essential to survival as water in most communities today.

Muslim scholars and people of knowledge must rise to the occasion and help our brothers and sisters who have made gambling a way of life.

Join this session to learn the Islamic view on GAMBLING, how gambling destroys people's livelihoods and lives, and how to overcome betting temptations.

CALLING PEOPLE TO ALLAH IS A NOBLE TASK; IT IS NOT NAME-CALLING, BLOGGING, OR FAULT-FINDING

Abdul-Ganiyy Raji

Da'wah is an Arabic term for the practice of inviting people to Allah, teaching them about Islam, guiding them, and encouraging them to adopt a Godly lifestyle. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and all the Prophets before him engaged in Da'wah. Every Muslim should do Da'wah in his or her own way.

The Qur'ān tells us in Chapter 16, verse 125, that people should be invited to the Way of God with wisdom and good words. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) demonstrated through both his words and actions that Da'wah should be done through kind words and polite means. You cannot tell someone he is stupid and then ask that same person to join your religion.

Da'wah is not the same thing as insulting people or their fathers. Da'wah is not exhibiting rudeness to elderly people; it is not stalking people online to gather their mistakes. Da'wah is not blogging. Da'wah is not propaganda or lying against people just to ridicule or discredit them. True Da'wah promotes love, tolerance, and peace. True Da'wah gives people confidence and hope in the mercy and forgiveness of Allah. It does not give them hell before they die, or make them lose hope in Allah's mercy. Da'wah is a noble task.

Da'wah is not done to promote an ideology. It is done to promote Islam. It is not done to pursue a personal goal. It is not done to become famous. It is not done to pursue a vendetta. It is not done to extort money from innocent people. It is not done for personal aggrandizement. It is done for the sake of Allah.

A person who engages in Da'wah for the sake of Allah and with sincerity will not attack other people's dignity while doing his Da'wah. He teaches pristine Islam without using insulting words. He is polite even in the face of provocation. He avoids thuggery and violence.

Allah tells us in the Qur'ān not to insult what non-Muslims believe in (See Qur'ān 6:108). This is because insulting their beliefs and their gods will make them insult Allah out of ignorance and will also make them tag Islam as a rude and violent religion, and they will not see the beauty in it.

If Allah can tell us not to insult the beliefs of non-Muslims, how much do you think He hates seeing a Muslim insulting or denigrating his fellow Muslim in the name of Da'wah? The Prophet (SAW) said: (سباب المسلم فسوق وقتاله كفر) متفق عليه. This means "Insulting a fellow Muslim is an indecent act and fighting him is an act of disbelief"

Today, we have seen people who parade themselves as Da'wah workers on social media and elsewhere. They attack people's honour, insult our elders, provoke non-Muslims, and give themselves the authority to determine who will enter Paradise and who will enter hell on the Day of Judgement. There is no abusive or disparaging word that is too big for these people to use to describe other people. They never use polite means to invite others to Islam.

We cannot correct people by insulting them. We cannot invite people to Islam by attacking their dignity. We cannot make insults, rudeness, aggressiveness, and Intolerance synonyms for Da'wah.

Da'wah is functioning as a person who demonstrates the inherent beauty of Islam to others. Da'wah is the act of spreading the peaceful nature of Islam through words and actions.

True Da'wah workers employ words of peace in their messages. They correct what is wrong in a polite manner without making the other person less human. They do not insult people because they want to correct them. They do not call people names to invite them to Allah. They do not turn social media or the places where they meet their students or followers into slaughterhouses where they destroy people's self-esteem and dignity. They perfectly understand Qur'ān 16:125, which says: "Invite people to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and good exhortations".

Da'wah is a noble task.

How did Prophet Muhammad (SAW) win his companions' hearts? He didn't use magic or money to induce them. Why did they love him more than themselves? (Character)

A Live Video Session
(How Prophet Muhammad (SAW) Related With People)

21/09/2024

While speaking about Prophet Muhammad (SAW) during a recent TV programme, I was asked by the anchor to give advice to the Muslim Ummah. The advice I gave took the following format:

My beloved brothers and sisters in Islam. Our religion is the most misunderstood and misrepresented religion in the world. Many people think that our religion encourages violence, bloodletting, degradation of women, intolerance towards people of other faiths, ignorance, living in abject poverty, terrorism and other negative things. Many people use the attitude of a few of us to evaluate Islam. They see our behaviour as the true reflection of what Islam is.

The time has come for Muslims to prove that Islam is a beautiful religion. We need to show our neighbours the beauty of Islam through our character. We should not just tell people that Islam is beautiful. People have heard this statement enough and it has become a cliche. Rather than just talk about the beauty of Islam, we need to show the beauty through our character and reactions to issues. The world isn't interested in what we have to say as much as it is interested in what we can.

Our religion teaches good neighborliness, honesty, tolerance, kindness, selflessness, empathy, sympathy, transparency, love, peace, exemplary leadership, humility, courage, neatness, family bonding and compassion.

Our religion encourages education, skills acquisition, seeking wealth through lawful means and setting and pursuing noble realistic goals.

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) did not leave for us a religion that is devoid of good character. He left for us a religion that combines faith and worship with good interpersonal skills and excellent character.

This is the way each of us should represent Islam.

During my appearance on MITV yesterday. I thought I would be able to share the video. Half a loaf is better than none. So they say.

During the TV session, I was about about the significance of Mawlid Nabiyy. I began by referring the anchor to the words of the American scientist, Michael Hart, who in his book "The 100, A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History", described Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in the following beautiful words:

"My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world's most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels."

Those are not my words. They are the words of a scientist, a writer and a Jew.

For us, Muslims, Muhammad means more than a prophet to us. He is our guide, our role model, our liberator, our teacher. Everything that we do is guided by his teaching.

We love him more than we love ourselves, our parents, brothers, sisters and children. He is the most beloved person to us.

He is our leader in religious matters, but also in every aspect of our lives.

He was successful in areas of life, as a child, a husband, a father, a follower, a neighbour. A ladder, a friend, a bearer of God's Message. He is worthy of emulation in all areas of life. May Allah bless him, his household, his companions and our teachers and parents who taught us about him.
