OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: MONDAY MARCH 31ST 2025

THEME: HE CAN USE UNBELIEVERS TOO

MEMORIZE: But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 2 Timothy 2:20

READ: Ezra 1:1-11
1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,

2 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

3 Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.

4 And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.

5 Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.

6 And all they that were about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all that was willingly offered.

7 Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods;

8 Even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.

9 And this is the number of them: thirty chargers of gold, a thousand chargers of silver, nine and twenty knives,

10 Thirty basons of gold, silver basons of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels a thousand.

11 All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.

MESSAGE
Today's memory verse tells us that there are vessels unto honor and unto dishonor in a great man's house. God will always find something to use people for; He will use His children as vessels unto honour, while those who refuse to live a holy life will be used as vessels unto dishonour.

One day, while driving to church to minister to some sick people, I got stuck in a terrible traffic jam. After a while, I noticed a side of the road that was free of traffic, and I moved my car there. Unknown to me, there was a rule that vehicles could only drive on that side of the road after 10am, and that was why it was free. Some policemen stopped my car and said, "Don't you know that you can only pass here from 10am?" I told them I didn't know and that I was sorry. I explained that I am a pastor, and I was hurrying to go and pray for the sick. They said, "Well, you know what to do." I knew they were expecting a bribe, but as a child of God, I couldn't do it. Therefore, they said "You will wait here until 10am before we let you go." As I waited, some street boys who were some distance away recognized me, and one of them said, "That is Daddy Adeboye. It seems the policemen are harassing him; let's go and help him." When the policemen saw them approaching, they left me and hurried away. In that situation, God used the street boys to threaten the policemen into letting me go.

When God wanted to free His people from Babylon, He used Cyrus, an unbelieving ruler. Long before his birth, Isaiah had prophesied about him and the part he would play in the freedom of God's people (Isaiah 44:28, Isaiah 45:1-5). God can use unbelievers to do His will; however, such unbelievers will still end up in hell if they do not surrender to Christ, as all sinners will end up in hell.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:18

Beloved, surrender your life to Christ if you are not yet born again and begin to live a holy life so that God can use you as a vessel unto honor and not unto dishonor.

KEY POINT
God will always use people for His will. However, they can choose to either be vessels unto honor or vessels unto dishonor.

HYMN 23: TAKE MY LIFE AND LET IT BE
1 Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

2 Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee,
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

3 Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee,
Filled with messages from Thee.

4 Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold;
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose,
Every power as Thou shalt choose.

5 Take my will, and make it Thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart; it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne
It shall be Thy royal throne.

6 Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure-store.
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee,
Ever, only, all for Thee.

SUNDAY SCHOOL HYMN

1. O Sunday School, on the Lord's day,
O how I love Thee well,
I am happy, it makes me glad
To rejoice at Thy birth.

2. O Sunday School, on the Lord's day,
Thy friendship suits me well,
Both young and old will sing Thy song,
We long for Sunday School.

3. O Sunday School, on the Lord's day,
Christ was Thy first teacher,
The Holy Spirit, great teacher,
Does manifest in thee.

4. O Sunday School, on the Lord's day,
This testimony is sure,
That God, the Father Almighty,
Poured His blessing on Thee

5. O Sunday School, on the Lord's day,
Though the sun be so bright,
Or if the clouds be black with rain,
I'll be in Sunday School.

6. O Sunday School, on the Lord's day
I rejoice to see Thee,
Will thou pass over me today?
Without my being blest?

OPENING PRAYER
Dear Father, let every iota of fear in me vanish in Jesus' name.

MEMORY VERSE: "The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them". – Numbers 27:7

BIBLE PASSAGE: NUMBERS 27:1-7

1 Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.

2 And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

3 Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.

4 Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.

5 And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.

6 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

7 The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

INTRODUCTION

Zelophehad means, the shade or tingling of fear. A man from the tribe of Manasseh, he was part of the Israelites who left Egypt under Moses' leadership and died in the wilderness. He had five daughters but no sons and therefore no male heirs. After His death, his daughters; Mahlah, Noha, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah went to Moses to demand their father's inheritance because as women, they were not entitled to any inheritance. Moses took the matter to God and they were justified. We have Some lessons to learn from these ladies and the need to ask for our entitlements.

TEXT REVIEW: NUMBERS 27:1-7

A. The writer of the book of Numbers introduced the daughters of zelophehad as members of Joseph linage.

B. These ladies stood before Moses and the congregation of Israel to make a case for their family.

C. In their expression, their father was not part of the rebels that died in the wilderness. They said

i. "Why should................ v4a.
ii. Give unto us............... v4b.
iii. .......Moses................. v5.
iv. ...... The LORD ........... v6.
v. The daughters of ...... v7a.
vi. Thou shalt surely...... v7b.
vii. ......thou shalt.......... v7c.

LESSON OUTLINES
1. THE NEED TO ASK
2. LESSONS FROM ZELOPHEHAD'S DAUGHTERS

THE NEED TO ASK
The teacher should ask the students to give reasons why it us important to ask questions when necessary.
The class teacher should explain the outline as stated below.

A. AIthough our heavenly Father knows
needs (Matthew 6:8), Jesus emphasised the need to ask in Matthew 7:7.

i. To ask is. important because it is those who ask that will receive (Matth. 7:8; 1 Kings 10:13).

ii. Enquiring sheds light on a subject (Deuteronomy 32:7-8) as it brings clarity and revelation.

iii. It brings results and requests are granted (Ezra 7:6).

iv. We have access to information and become informed (Genesis 43:7-8).

v. It resolves the question of leadership and provides adequate counsel (Judges 1:1; 20:23).

v. Being specific in our demand gives us what we want (2 Kings 2:9-10: Matthew 7:9).

vi. It gives us access to our inheritance (Psalm 2:8).

vii. We get a good grasp of the old path (Jeremiah 6:16).

B. Even research shows that asking questions builds emotional intelligence.

CLASS ACTIVITY 1
Why are some people afraid to either ask questions or ask for help when in need of such?

LESSONS FROM ZELOPHEHAD'S DAUGHTERS

The following are Some life lessons to learn from these ladies.

1. BEING AUDACIOUS: Irrespective of their gender and the limitations placed on women in Israel (then) they were brave (Numbers 27:1).

2. ONE VOICE: They stood in unity before Moses, the priest, and even the e congregation C of Israel (Numbers 27:1-2; Genesis 11:6).

3. GO TO THE RIGHT SOURCE: These ladies did not beat about the bush; they went to the man in charge who they knew could handle their matter and give them what they wanted. They went to the right sources. (Numbers 27:2).

4. KNOWLEDGE: They were informed and had a good knowledge of history to know those who rebelled against God and died in the wilderness (Numbers 27:3a; Proverbs 13:16; 11:9).

5. SPEAK OUT: They placed a demand on Moses to get their father's inheritance. Moses brought their matter to God (Numbers 27:4-5) and He vindicated them by granting their request (Numbers 27:7). As a child of God, you must learn to speak out and claim your inheritance.

6. EMANCIPATORS: They brought freedom to others as they raised the legal case of a woman's right and obligation to inherit property in the absence of a male in the family and a law was made to regulate inheritance in Israel (Numbers 27:8).

7. OBEDIENCE: They fully complied with the instruction God gave through Moses that they should get married only within their father's tribe (Numbers 36:6,11).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2
Have you ever demanded what belonged to you before? What was your experience?

CONCLUSION
Taking what belongs to us may sometimes require some conscious, deliberate, and necessary efforts. Step out into you inheritance now.

CLOSING PRAYER
Dear Father, I receive the grace and boldness I need to make demands for all that belongs to me.

ASSIGNMENT
Write out five lessons you have learned from Zelophehad's daughters (2Γ—5=10 Marks).

OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: SUNDAY MARCH 30TH 2025

THEME: THE BLESSING CALLED 'MOTHER'

MEMORIZE: The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel. Judges 5:7

READ: Proverbs 1:8-9
8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

MESSAGE
Typically, children tend to respect and even fear their fathers more than their mothers because men are generally considered stronger and sterner. A mother may not be as physically strong as a father, but she has immense strength in other areas. I usually say that I am where I am today because of God's grace and my mother's prayers. Whenever I did something that impressed her, she would say, "You will call one fellow, and 100 will answer." What she meant was, β€˜You will be very influential.’ Today, God has blessed me with great influence over many people across the world. When a mother is happy with a child, whatever she deeply desires and prays over the child will come to pass.

Beloved, Ephesians 6:2-3 instructs you to honor your father and mother (not just your father alone) so that you can enjoy tremendous blessings. These days, many children don't even pick up their parents' calls. If you have parents, you must be intentional about honoring them because it is a prerequisite for God's blessings and long life.

When I was younger, my mother would instruct me to stay back at home to study while other children in the neighborhood were out playing. Thank God, I obeyed her. Studying my books helped me to ignore many distractions and achieve great things in life. In appreciation, I took good care of her before she passed away. I made sure that I saw her at least once every two weeks so that she wouldn't miss me so much. If your mother is still alive, or if you have mother figures in your life, ensure that you always honor them by being obedient and caring towards them.

If you are a mother, your role in deciding your children's future is very important. You must ensure that they are disciplined and focused on fulfilling God's will for their lives. Don't pamper them; train them diligently. Don't prioritize making money or partying over spending quality time with them. Also, be willing to make sacrifices to help them grow up in wisdom, strength, and the way of the Lord. I pray that God will bless all mothers with the strength and courage to nurture their children the right way. If you're married and are seeking God's face for the fruit of the womb, I decree that by this time next year, you will be carrying your baby, in Jesus' name.

ACTION POINT
Get a special gift for your mother or the mother figure in your life today in celebration of Mother's Day.

HYMN 28: GUIDE ME, O THOU GREAT JEHOVAH
Guide me, O thou great Jehovah
pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but you are mighty;
hold me with your powerful hand.
Bread of heaven, bread of heaven,
feed me now and evermore,
feed me now and evermore.

2 Open now the crystal fountain,
where the healing waters flow.
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
lead me all my journey through.
Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer,
ever be my strength and shield,
ever be my strength and shield.

3 When I tread the verge of Jordan,
bid my anxious fears subside.
Death of death, and hell's Destruction,
land me safe on Canaan's side.
Songs of praises, songs of praises
I will ever sing to you,
I will ever sing to you.

OPEN HEAVEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: SATURDAY MARCH 29TH 2025

THEME: DON'T LOOK AT THEIR FACES

MEMORIZE: Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. Jeremiah 1:8

READ: Jeremiah 1:4-10
4 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

6 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.

7 But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

9 Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

MESSAGE
Many believers fail to share the gospel because of fear. The key to overcoming this, however, is to ask God for boldness and wisdom for each unique occasion.

I recall a time l flew first class because someone gifted me the ticket. I sat next to a man who I could tell was very rich from his appearance. I really wanted to tell him about Jesus, but I was afraid he wouldn't listen because he would think that he was above such things. Therefore, I decided to go about it with wisdom. I said, "Sir, I’d love to introduce you to my Daddy." He asked, "Who is your Daddy?" "My Daddy is a great chief. He's into oil and gas, and He does some silver, gold, and diamonds. He also has a big farm with thousands of cattle," I replied. Then he asked, "How come l don't know him? What's your father's name?" I knew that if I said Jesus at that stage, I might lose Him, so l said, "My Father's name is Chief Emmanuel." That got his attention, and I was able to share the gospel with him.

When God called young Jeremiah to preach to the rebellious children of Israel, He instructed him not to be afraid of their faces. The same God is with you when you go out to tell others about Jesus' love. He has given you His Spirit to teach you what to say, just as He taught me on that flight. No matter how tough-faced or uninterested people may look, don't look at their faces; focus on the One who sent you and deliver His message to them. An adage in Yorubaland says that you shouldn't fear the one you are delivering a message to but the one who sent you to deliver the message. Don't allow the fear of men prevent you from preaching the gospel. Keep your eyes on God, do as He has commanded all believers (Matthew 28:18-19), and leave the conviction and conversion to Him.

Once God is with you, nothing else matters. He'll teach you what to say and how to say it. Preaching the gospel is not about how excellently you can speak and quote the Scriptures but the demonstration of the Spirit and of power (1 Corinthians 2:4).

Beloved, surrender your life to Jesus today if you haven't; He is the only way to salvation. If you have surrendered your life to Him, ensure you share the gospel with others; don't be afraid of their faces.

ACTION POINT
Tell someone about the love of Jesus today.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 22-24

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A ADEBOYE

HYMN 20: STAND UP, STAND UP FOR JESUS
1 Stand up, stand up for Jesus
ye soldiers of the cross;
lift high his royal banner,
it must not suffer loss.
From vict'ry unto vict'ry
his army he shall lead
till ev'ry foe is vanquished
and Christ is Lord indeed.

2 Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
the trumpet call obey;
forth to the mighty conflict
in this his glorious day.
Ye that are men now serve him
against unnumbered foes;
let courage rise with danger
and strength to strength oppose.

3 Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
stand in his strength alone;
the arm of flesh will fail you,
ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armor,
each piece put on with prayer;
where duty calls or danger,
be never wanting there.

4 Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
the strife will not be long;
this day the noise of battle,
the next, the victor's song.
To him that overcometh
a crown of life shall be;
he with the King of glory
shall reign eternally.
