11TH OF MAY

IN COMMEMORATION TO THE FEAST OF OUR LADY OF DIVINE VOCATION

Society of Divine Vocations
Our Lady of Divine Vocations
Why did Fr. Justin love and honor the Blessed Mother so much?
Why did he totally entrust our congregation to the sovereign protection, royal superiorship and
maternal care of the Blessed mother?
OL Divine VocationsFor Fr. Justin, the most special function of Mary is to form souls according to the heart of God, as God wants them, as God desires them to be! The vocation of Mary is to form Jesus in every soul, and to make every soul not only holy as to be Jesus, to make it another Jesus, but also to make it another formator of Jesus, to form soul-spouses of God and this is also our vocation according to Fr. Justin.

On February 14, 1938, Fr. Justin wrote in his “Book of the Soul” saying, “It is as if the Blessed Trinity dictated to me in a particular way that the Blessed Virgin Mother is my immediate spiritual directress. Opere, Vol.11, p. 115.

Fr. Justin convinces us to examine our obligation to reserve a part of our day for an intimacy with Jesus and deepen our devotion to Mary, mediatrix of all graces, queen of all saints and mother of divine love, patroness of our congregation, this three-fold title we use to address Mary at the beginning and at the end of our prayers. She is the channel through which all graces flow. All graces come to us from the heart of Mary and through the hands of Mary. Fr. Justin was strongly convinced that it is very important to find and to keep ourselves, as much as possible, close to her hands and in her immaculate heart.

Fr. Justin knew how to appreciate, promulgate and practice all the liturgical, ordinary and extra-ordinary Marian devotions such as recitation of the holy Rosary, the use of scapular, miraculous medal, novenas, pilgrimages and others. He was a member of the confraternity of the most holy Rosary and had worn the scapular of our lady ofMount Carmeluntil he died.

In addition, Fr. Justin had a great devotion to the Miraculous Medal. On November 27, 1937, he wrote in his “Book of the Soul”: Feast of the apparition of the Miraculous Medal, and he said; “the Miraculous Medal has freed me from the repulsiveness and fear of my physical cardiac ailment while I was praying the rosary.

Every November 27, Fr. Justin publicly imposed the miraculous medal to the students of the Vocationaries, orphanages and to parish communities, and marked this day as a feast of the miraculous medal. On April 21, 1953, Fr. Justin wrote in his “Book of the Soul”: “Let us use the bigger form of the miraculous medal, holding it always in our hands as in a perpetual embrace. It will be a sign in your hand as a remembrance and imploration of all the laws of love. We give it especially when miracles are needed for the good of another in body and spirit. The Virgin of the miraculous medal will really be for us our lady of miracles.”

Fr. Justin recommends each one of us to have a miraculous medal “before beginning any spiritual activity for the coming of the reign of Jesus Christ, at the beginning of every scholastic year, of any preaching ministry and of every spiritual assistance to any soul, we should bless it solemnly and publicly impose the miraculous medal of Mary Immaculate carrying it ahead of us in every enterprise as a banner. Through this medal, we will have a personal devotion as there is a real liturgical devotion. ”

Fr. Justin wrote and stated: “It was given to me the certainty that the Blessed Trinity has given the Blessed Lady the Office of Immediate Superior of the Society of Divine Vocations, present and working in our midst in all the offices and in all our houses, studies, works, and everything. On February 11, 1932, the blessed mother visited and spoke with him, and on May 11, 1932 was established as the Feast of the Superiorship of Mary Most Holy in our congregation.

According to Fr. Justin, “God could never be alone. Wherever God is, the whole heavenly court is with him. Since God is everywhere and Mary is always with him, our faith in the special presence of Mary everywhere is justified. Our lady is truly present especially in the room dedicated to her. Then, he said; “remember that the Blessed Lady is your mother and takes care of you. Every evening she passes by your bed, and aside from tucking you in to make sure that you are well covered, she smiles at you and blesses you. Let us not make our heavenly Mother sad with our shortcomings. The blessed mother visits every soul especially those who wait to be sanctified, those who are blessed with a religious and priestly vocation and still more to those who nurture vocations. He said that we can learn the perfect devotion to Mary from someone who knows her, the angels and the saints.

Fr. Justin noted that the Blessed Trinity has honored and loved Mary, has chosen her from all eternity, choosing her as daughter of the Father, spouse of the Holy Spirit and mother of the Incarnate Word, Jesus Christ. There is no other person on earth and in the heavens destined to be like her. Therefore, he strongly recommends each one of us to deepen and nurture our devotion to Mary, and to unite ourselves to the respect and love that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit have for her. Our spiritual life, every act, every work, every devotion must lead to and be transformed into prayer. We should honor her, Queen of all Saints, Mother of divine love, Mediatrix of all graces and our Lady of Divine Vocations, inspirations and missions. The blessed mother helps us and offers us her example, the fiat of her heart to the heart of Jesus, to the will, glory and love of the Blessed Trinity.

Fr. Justin continued in his “Book of the Soul”; “Mary is the rich earth, all in her, everything in her, men, women, cities, empires, life, and EVERYTHING! To her we have to entrust all divine seeds of grace, of works and of any good so that they may bear fruit. The blessed mother with God the Father is all maternal mercy and goodness, love and sweetness towards every soul. That’s why all of the saints including Fr. Justin, our founder had special love and devotions toward her, and so let’s constantly remind ourselves of the important role of Mary in our religious life as Vocationists, and remember Fr. Justin’s recommendation to deepen and nourish our devotion to the Blessed Mother.

Fr. Justin M. Russolillo, founder of the Vocationist Fathers, Sisters, and Apostles of Universal Sanctification was beatified on May 7, 2011 @ 3PM in Pianura (Naples), ITALY.

Blessed Justin, pray for us!

MONDAY OF THE FIFTH WEEK OF EASTER

Jesus makes the assertion that keeping his commandments is equal to loving him. And loving him means being an object of the love of the Father who, together with the son, will make his home in us. To be the home of the father and the son and the Spirit who proceeds from them, the blessed Trinity! To have the Holy Trinity living in us! We are so precious as to be little homes for God to dowell in. God can dwell only where there is love, for God is Love. Loving God means loving one another. All the commandments are summarised in this one word: Love. To be a loving person means to be a home for God to dwell in. Barnabas and Paul show in today's first reading what it means to be a dwelling place of God. Lord, cleanse me and make me pure so that I may be a Worthy home for you.

MAY ALMIGHTY GOD BLESS YOU +FATHER +SON AND +THE HOLY SPIRIT. AMEN

FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

For the disciples of Christ it was a moment of confusion, doubt, anxiety, worry and even sadness. Jesus had just revealed that he would be going away. This opened up all sorts of questions in their minds. What would happen to their plans and ambitions? Did they waste three precious years by following Jesus? Was their master truly the Messiah? if so, why is he going away without restoring the kingdom which they had hope for? Jesus comfort and consoles disciples who are saddened by his imminent departure from this world. He tells them of the purpose for his departure: to go and prepare a place for them.he also reveals that he would come again and take them thing that where he is they may also be.

But Thomas throws up the question of where he is going and what is the way to where he is going. Jesus makes the all-important and profoundly meaningful statement: “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the father but by me.. " This assertion of Jesus is a self revelation of who she is (TRUTH of the father) what his mission (by giving his LIFE for the world in obedience to the father). In Jesus we have the revelation of Truth, way to our destiny and the source of our life. we can satisfy the deepest yearnings of our heart in and through our Union with Jesus who is one with the father. when we follow Jesus our troubles, struggles and sadness will turn into joy Jesus master, the way, the truth and the life, have mercy on us

SATURDAY IN THE FOURTHTH WEEK OF EASTER

There is in everyone a deep-rooted thirst for knowing the living God and experiencing his love. People go to different religious traditions, holy places and holy men and women in search of the knowledge and experience of God. Very often it happens that they search in the wrong places. Philip was with Jesus for quite some time and he too asked Jesus to show him the living God so that he may be satisfied. Jesus makes the startling revelation that Phillips search ends in seeing him. Seeing Jesus is seeing the father, hearing Jesus is hearing the father and loving Jesus is loving the father. “do you not believe that I am in the father and the father is in me?" Jesus here identifies himself with God the Father. In Jesus we have the joy of experiencing the living God. Lord Jesus, help us know you and love you better so that in you we know and love the father!

FRIDAY IN THE FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER

people condemned and killed Jesus, and he was buried but God raised him from the dead, and thus fulfilled his promise says, st Paul. we believe also that he is seated at the right hand of the father and will come again to judge the living and the Dead. where he is now, we, his followers shall be, as he has gone to prepare a place for us. He has become for us the way to the father. He has personified the truth of the father's love and compassion for us. He has become the source of life and salvation for those who believe in him as he laid down his life for his loved ones. He will come again and will take us to himself!! come, Lord Jesus, be our way, truth and life.

THURSDAY IN THE FOURTHTH WEEK OF EASTER

Jesus speaks of his betrayal in a veiled manner. The context is The last supper during which Jesus washed his disciples feet, demonstrating that “he came not to be served, but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many" to be a disciple of Jesus means to be a servant like the master, to reach out to people in love, compassion and kindness. To be a disciple means to be ready for betrayal, rejection, persecution and even death. He empowers us in our weakness, he accompanies us in our loneliness, he welcomes us in our moments of rejection, and he fills us with his joy in our sadness. Lord, and master we thank you for knowing our weakness and carrying our sufferings

WEDNESDAY IN THE FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER.

Light and darkness are constant themes in John's Gospel. Christ and his teachings represent ‘light'. In the prologue of John he writes: “In him was life and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness and darkness has not overcome it (John 1: 4-5). Darkness for John is the absence of Christ light. In today's gospel John once again equates faith in Christ with light. “I have come as light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness." the second reading shows that Barnabas and Paul were two instruments set apart by the holy Spirit to bring the light of Christ to the Gentiles. each of us is given the lights of faith in order to radiate it around us and thereby dispel the darkness of ignorance and sin. Lord, enlighten us so that we may radiate your light to others.

TUESDAY IN THE FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER

Jesus confronts each of us today with these startling words: “I told you, and you do not believe... but you do not believe, because you do not belong to my sheepfold." To ‘believe' in Jesus we need to ‘belong' to him. In order to ‘belong' to him we need to ‘hear' his voice and ‘Know' him. So the process of discipleship is knowing, hearing, belonging and believing. This is also the process of ‘christification' or becoming another Christ. We see this in the life of Barnabas who was full of the holy Spirit, and other early followers of Christ, especially those in Antioch, where they were called ‘Christians’ for the first time. Lord, help us to know you, hear you, belong to you and believe in you.

MONDAY IN THE FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER

Both the readings of today speak of the universality of salvation made possible for us by the sacrifice of our Good Shepherd Jesus. the first reading tells us that “God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ..." Both the Jews and the gentiles are called to salvation through their faith in Jesus. In the gospel Jesus speaks of “the other sheep that are not of his fold... so there should be one flock, one Shepherd." The Good Shepherd laid down his life for all, he paid for the salvation of all, he gathers everyone to his sheepfold. He knows each of us by name. Do we know him as a true and only shepherd and hear his voice and follow him? Lord, we thank you for the gift of salvation.

FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

“By his wounds you have been healed," says saint Peter in today's second Reading. The Shepherd becomes the door of the sheepfold. He risks his life in order to protect his sheep. The predator targets the Shepherd who guards the sheep like a door. His life is in danger. He is attacked and killed. He dies to save the lives of the sheep. But a thief runs away when the predator attacks. The sheep get scattered and killed. In Jesus we have the Good Shepherd who “bore our sins in his body on the tree" who was wounded and killed to save his sheep. We are the sheep saved by the death of Jesus, our Good Shepherd. Do we hear his voice and follow his path? Or do we hear the voice of the thief who “comes to kill and destroy?" Lord, help us hear your voice and follow you.

MAY ALMIGHTY GOD BLESS YOU +FATHER +SON AND +THE HOLY SPIRIT.. AMEN

SATURDAY IN THE THIRD WEEK OF EASTER.. ST. ATHANASIUS MEMORIAL

Jesus asked a fundamental question to his disciples, ‘do you also want to go away' Peter, guided by the holy Spirit, responded with the immortal words: “Lord, to whom shall we go? you have the words of eternal Life.." Jesus does not sugar-coat and compromise on his all-important Eucharistic teaching in order to gain for himself a few extra followers. He challenges them to accept the reality of his own self offering in the eucharistic bread instead of murmuring and taking offence at him. Peter in today's first reading displays the power of Jesus presence in him through eucharistic Communion as he heals the sick and raises the Dead. Today we have a choice to make to be with Jesus and be Nourished and empowered by him or to go away dissatisfied and disillusioned. lord help us remain in you as we believe that you alone have the words of eternal life and that you alone is the bread of life.
