ONE THING IS NEEDFUL.

Luke 10:38-42
[38]Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
[39]And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
[40]But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
[41]And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
[42]But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

I believe, we all know this account very well. Many times, some believers think that 'Too many activities' is what pleases the Lord, but they get it all wrong. Some, like Martha, who was cumbered with much serving might think that, that is actually what pleases Jesus, but its not. Many think it's because they are in the choir, ushering, protocol and media department, God is pleased. Well, while serving in Church is good and very commendable, we ought to put first things first. I have seen some who claim to go to church, but stay at the car park from the beginning of the service until the end. You can imagine ! Later, they will open their mouths and say 'God does not exist' , 'God is not real' , 'There is no God' ! Why? All the while He has been trying to reach them, they were no where to be found!
In Verse 39 of our running texts, you could see Mary's disposition. "SHE SAT AT JESUS'S FEET AND HEARD HIS WORD" ~ This is the posture of discipleship, those interested in hearing and learning God's word! So, while everyone is encouraged to serve at one department or the other in church, Jesus is MORE interested in YOUR SITTING AND HEARING/LEARNING GOD'S WORD WHENEVER WE GATHER IN HIS HOUSE!

When God's word is ongoing, EVERYONE MUST PAY ATTENTION ~ FOR THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF EVERY CHURCH MEETING.

Let's see a part of our running texts again,

Luke 10:40-42KJV
[40]But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
[41]And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
[42]But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Martha came to Jesus and told Him to tell Mary to come assist her. To Martha, what She was doing was more important than what Jesus was saying.. but I love Jesus's response ~ He said to Martha ~ You are troubled about "Many things" , but "One thing is needful" ~ That means, whatever Martha was doing as at this point was not needed. What was important to Jesus was what was to be imparted by His word on her heart, not her many activities! Make no mistakes about this, you can do every other activity and call it "Service to God" ~ But, what does God want first from us? TO SIT AT HIS FEET AND LEARN HIS WORD - The result of this will be 'Spiritual growth' (this will never be taken away from you as long as you always maintain this posture).

Church activities is good, protocol is good, singing in the choir is good, cleaning the chairs is beautiful, etc, but all these can never make you grow in the Lord, you can't be transformed and grow up in the knowledge of Christ by these activities ~ what causes your growth is your attention to God's discipleship structure and this is by the teaching of God's word!

So my simple question to you, dear believer is this; Are you doing that one thing that is needful before the Lord? or you are just encumbered with much 'Serving' ?

Ponder on this and make the necessary adjustments.

Grace & Peace be multiplied to you.

Blessed!

NO DARKNESS IN GOD.

1John 1:5. This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.

Whatever represents darkness is not of the Father but of Satan, the devil. The simple truth is that God will never train His children by inflicting sicknesses, diseases or curses upon them. There is no darkness in God. Well, some believers may say; "I know God is taking me through a test and trial with this sickness of mine". That's not a picture of the Father. He won't train you by allowing cancer to get a hold on you, NO! It's the devil that's in charge of anything that causes sickness, pain and sorrow on the earth. There is no ounce of darkness in God. How do I know this? Let's quickly read two scriptures,

John 10:10. The thief cometh not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I AM COME THAT THEY MAY HAVE LIFE, AND THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY.

Acts 10:38. How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the HolyGhost and with power: WHO WENT ABOUT DOING GOOD, and HEALING ALL that were oppressed of the devil; FOR GOD WAS WITH HIM.

So change your perspective about God, for He is good, He is merciful, He is kind and gracious. It's the devil that inflicts men with sicknesses, diseases and whatever causes sorrow! There is no darkness in God!

Anytime you are going through anything that contradicts the goodness of God, resist such in the name of Jesus, and say; I know that this isn’t from my Father, because there is no darkness in Him! Since He cares for me, I live in health, peace, safety and full supply of my needs etc. all the days of my life, and so, I walk in the reality of His goodness - amen.

Since there is no darkness in God, never allow anything that represents darkness in your life and that of your loved ones!

Hope it’s clear ?

Take heed saints.

I call you blessed !

THINK RIGHT!

Philippians 4:8.“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are of a good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things”.

It's so clear brethren that God has our best interest at heart. Can't you see He's just so concerned about everything concerning us including our thought life?. Every believer must endeavour to control their minds. God wants us to start thinking right. He doesn't want us to entertain all manner of thoughts, He wants us to think on things that will be of great benefit to us!

Some folks will just sit down there and start thinking about their past sinful life. Well, those things you are thinking may be true, but, they are not pure. You see, you'll have to balance these things else your mind will become a play ground for the devil! You will have to choose what you allow to settle in your mind. Anything that is not of a good report, anything that isn't pure, whatever it is that is not just, let it pass by you!
Just like my mentor said; “you can't stop a bird from flying over your head, but you can stop it from building it's nest on your hair”. In other words, you may not totally stop some of these unholy thoughts as long as you are still in the flesh, but, you can stop them from taking a hold of you. How do you stop them? Well, speak to your mind! For example when some useless thoughts start coming through your mind, you can say; “hey mind, that was my past, I don't belong there anymore, Jesus took it all away, I refuse to allow you dominate me, so, I cast you down in the Name of Jesus”.

Well, it's just that some of us enjoy these things, so casting these thoughts may be too hard to do, but that's one way to maintain the peace of God within. God's peace should garrison both “YOUR HEART AND MIND”!.
What the devil does is to try to steal the peace of God in your mind in order to pollute your mind. He can't access the peace in your Spirit! So, if you don't constantly renew your mind with the Word of God, if you don't continually speak against those worthless thoughts, commanding them to leave, you may loose the peace of God in your mind!

You see, God's peace and unholy thoughts can't be found in the same place. So, you are the one who will have to choose which one you prefer!

Romans 8:6.“For to be carnally minded is death: but to be spiritually minded is life and PEACE”.

So, you can be a believer and yet you are carnally minded. Being carnally minded makes you vulnerable to the deceits and attacks of Satan. But when you are constantly spiritually minded( always pondering upon good things, things of honest report, things that are pure; for example, you can meditate on the Love of Christ to you as a child of God), you will experience God's peace!

Thinking right is a price we must have to pay if we want to remain forever peaceful within and without. I can't think right for you. You'd have to think right for yourself. Thankfully, we have the written word of God. Learn to read it, meditate on it, think about it, let it dwell in your heart richly (colossians 3:16) and you will experience complete rest for your soul!

Wonderful day to you.

Jesus is Lord!

UNDERSTANDING THE LOVE OF THE FATHER (Part two).

John 3:16KJV
[16]For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God's love , like we said yesterday , is not 'feeling something' , it's about 'knowing what He has done' and walking in that consciousness.

Some sing songs out of their emotions saying 'i love you forever' , they got it wrong. It should be 'He loves me forever' . Because in him we have 'eternal life' !

We must see and appreciate the fact that God's love for us is IN CHRIST, in His death , burial and ressurrection. It's not in things , not in money , not in breakthroughs , etc. It doesn't mean God doesn't bless and provides , He sure does. But , primarily , His love is seen in the sacrifice of Jesus for sins ,

Revelation 1:5KJV
[5]And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.

We know He loves us because of the blood of Jesus shed for us.

Let's move on from where we stopped yesterday...

Ephesians 3:18-19KJV
[18]May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height
[19]And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

We saw how 'wide' God's love is yesterday. We said it covers all age groups , everyone on the surface on the earth. God is no racist , this is why He sent Christ to die for sins.

Let's see the 'Length' of His Love.

This speaks of 'how long' God's love lasts.

Again , from our running text-John 3:16 ,we can see something there. It says 'Whosoever believes in Him will not perish but HAVE EVERLASTING life'.

Everlasting life ? Wow !!!

That means once a man receives God's love upon hearing the gospel, he shall never perish. He will live forever. God won't stop loving him because he made mistakes , or he has fallen sometimes.

You must understand that God's love for you can't be maintained by your good conduct , it is maintained by the precious blood of Jesus , and this blood is eternal in itself ,

Hebrews 9:12KJV
[12]Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

When a man receives God's love , that man is said to be kept by the power of God ,

1Peter 1:5KJV
[5]Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

And this ,

1John 5:18ISV
[18]We know that the person who has been born from God does not go on sinning. Rather, the Son of God protects them, and the evil one cannot harm them.

You are protected in Christ , you are kept forever in Him , you can't be plucked out from His hands ,

John 10:28-29KJV
[28]And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
[29]My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

His love for you is FOREVER.

David captures this well ,

Psalms 103:17KJV
[17]But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children.

And here too,

Psalms 136:1KJV
[1]O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

His mercy endures forever !

God gave you eternal / everlasting life because that's how LONG He has chosen to love you.

See this verse ,

Ecclesiastes 3:14 KJV
[14]I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

What He does is forever.

Interpreting the above verse in the light of the epistles we can see and know that THE NEW CREATURE IS GOD'S DOING,

Ephesians 2:10KJV
[10]For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

The word 'Workmanship' is from the greek word 'poiēma', pronounced as 'poy-ay-mah' - it means 'the work of God', 'that which God created by Himself' !

My friend ,rest assured that the kind of love God has for you is 'FOREVER' in itself !

Your friends can stop loving you
Your family may stop loving you
Your colleagues at the office may not love you , but there is someone whose love for you is UNCONDITIONAL- His name is Jesus Christ.

Lift your hands and give God praise for loving you with an everlasting love.

We continue tomorrow,

I call you blessed!

UNDERSTANDING THE LOVE OF THE FATHER (Part one).

John 3:16KJV
[16]For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

It's very important that every child of God understands the love of the Father.

God's love is not a 'feeling' , it's a 'spiritual reality' which must be accurately known by believers ,

Philemon 1:6KJV
[6]That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

Acknowledgement here means 'precise knowledge' ! You must refuse to be ignorant about God's love.

It really baffles me when some believers equate God's love to material gains alone.

When you ask some - how do you know God loves you ? You'll hear answers like ; I have a good home , I have a good job , God is really opening new doors for me, etc.. such answers stem out from false doctrines !

The challenge with this is that , when they stop seeing the good things of life or when issues arise, they'll begin to ask God series of questions and doubt His eternal love for them.

God's Love is not in 'things' , God's love is seen in what Christ has done.

From our running text we can readily see that God's love is shown to us by the giving of His son- Jesus for our total redemption.

See what the writer also said in his epistle,

1John 4:9KJV
[9]In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

That is the manifestation of God's love for us !

Let's look at 'four' dimensions of His love for us from apostle Paul's prayer to the Ephesian church,

Ephesians 3:14-19KJV
[14]For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
[15]Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
[16]That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
[17]That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
[18]May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
[19]And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

These prayers are vital for us today, however , my focus is on verse 18-19 - knowing the breadth , length , depth and hieght of His love for us.

We will take it one after the other so you can see it.

Let's start with the 'breadth of His Love' !

This speaks of how 'wide' God's love is.

You see, God's love was shown to all humanity. It doesn't choose whom to love , it's for everyone on the surface of the earth. God doesn't love one less and love the other more.
From our text it's clear that He SO loved THE WORLD , and it's still so today. He hasn't and will never change ,

See these verses,

Romans 5:8&10KJV
[8]But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
[10]For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

God commended His love for us when we were dead in sins, enemies , rebels , ruled by the prince of the power of the air ,

Ephesians 2:1-2KJV
[1]And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
[2]Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.

You see , God's plan was to make a glorious church from a dying world , His plan was to make saints out of sinners , children out of bastards , and sons out of slaves.

This was why He sent His Son, and today by His grace we have millions of believers all over the world.

This is why we must go out and share the gospel to every man out there. God loves ALL of them. He loves thieves , He loves prostitutes , He loves g**s , He loves womanizers , He loves armed robbers , He loves fraudstars , etc. How do we know He loves them ? Because He sent His Son to the world to redeem them , and the blood of Christ is still available up until this moment. God desires to be their Father , He depends on us (the gospel on our lips) to save them ,

2Corinthians 5:18KJV
[18]And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation.

We must take this ministry seriously,

We must evangelise,

We must share the love we have received In Christ !

The Father loves sinners just as He loves you , the difference is just that - you have received it , they haven't, so go out and tell them this good news!

We continue tomorrow.

Have a great day.1

HOW TO MINISTER THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT IN CHURCH MEETINGS.

Every man who has been saved by Jesus has received the Spirit and can DO the things of the Spirit freely if he is properly trained. This is where a good local church comes in. One thing you’ll find in a sound local church is that they are trained to MINISTER TO ONE ANOTHER BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD! If the pastor of the church is the only one who flows with the things of the Spirit, that church will not experience the full measure of the blessedness of this aspect of our faith!

In God’s overall plan, EVERYONE SHOULD FLOW BY THE SPIRIT. Hear what Moses said to Joshua, when Joshua told him to forbid Eldad and Medad from prophesying in the camp,

Numbers 11:27-29KJV
[27]And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.
[28]And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.
[29]And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? *would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!*

This is God’s plan ; that all of His children would be prophets (meaning they will prophesy by His Spirit)!

Joel also has this to say,

Joel 2:28KJV
[28]And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.

Joel prophesied that God will POUR OUT HIS SPIRIT UPON ALL FLESH (The all flesh would be ; all those who has (or will) believe the gospel of Christ). That means, in God’s plan, there is no age discrepancy. Everyone can (should) do the things of the Spirit!

Now hear Jesus,

Mark 16:17KJV
[17]And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; *they shall speak with new tongues*!

Notice Jesus said ; *THEY SHALL SPEAK WITH NEW TONGUES* (This is flowing with the things of the Spirit - speaking with tongues is a supernatural activity and it is for everyone who believes)!

What about apostle Paul,

1Corinthians 12:7KJV
[7]But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

The word ‘Manifestation’ was translated from a Greek word that means ‘expression’. Notice what apostle Paul said; *That the expression of the Spirit is given to EVERY MAN TO PROFIT WITHAL* (‘Profit withal’ means ‘For the benefit of others ; both the saved and unsaved). That means, the gifts of the Spirit CAN be expressed through US ALL, BOTH IN THE CHURCH AND TO THE WORLD!

Hear apostle Paul again; let’s highlight where he pointed out the word *You all* ;

1Corinthians 14:5KJV
[5]I would that *ye all* spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

1Corinthians 14:23KJV
[23]If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, *and all speak with tongues* ….”

1Corinthians 14:24KJV
[24]*But if all prophesy*….”

1Corinthians 14:26KJV
[26]*How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you* hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

1Corinthians 14:31KJV
[31]*For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.*

In all these verses we just highlighted, you will notice that *THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT ARE FOR EVERYONE*! *NO ONE IS A WEAKLING IN THE CHURCH, NO ONE IS FEEBLE AND NO ONE IS WITHOUT CAPACITY*!

The capacity to do the things of the Spirit is Christ in our hearts! Every man who has received the gift of eternal life can FLOW BY THE SPIRIT!

The things that can make a man not do the things of the Spirit are ;

1. If he attends an ignorant church where these things aren’t emphasized and practiced.
2. If he is nonchalant and uninterested in expressing these things (even though he attends a church where they are practiced)!

Having seen these things, what do I need to know in order to minister the things of the Spirit effortlessly in church meetings?

See this ;

1Corinthians 14:26KJV
[26]How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

You can see in this text that nothing should put you under any sort of pressure in ministering the things of the Spirit in meetings where it is practiced.

You can have *a Psalm* (meaning you can minister to your brother in songs - by the Spirit).

You can have *a Doctrine* (Which means teaching - that means, you can bless someone in church by exhorting the brother or sister based on what was or has been taught).

You can have *a Revelation* (This can mean A word of wisdom, knowledge or discerning of Spirit - and you don’t determine or conjure these things , *THEY COME TO YOU*. Many times when you hold the hands of your brother or sister, the Lord can just open your supernatural eyes to see in the Spirit what they should know at that time. At other times, when you start speaking out to the person from what you know, you’ll start saying *what you don’t know* (which is unplanned) - Now that’s an interruption of (by) the Spirit!

Finally, you can have *Tongues & interpretation* ; When you hold the hands of your brother or sister, you will pray or speak briefly in other tongues, and then speak out the interpretation BY FAITH. Many times, when you are praying in tongues, you don’t even know what to say during the interpretation. But when you step out in faith to speak in [English] or in the language your audience understands, then the interpretation will flow! Sometimes, when you wait to hear the interpretation in your mind before you speak, you can ‘delay’ in blessing that fellow. While at other times, immediately you start speaking with tongues; words, phrases, sentences, Names and locations will just come to your mind!

I must emphasize this again; *IN MINISTERING THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT, THE BELIEVER MUST NEVER BE UNDER ANY SORT OF PRESSURE WHATSOEVER TO PERFORM*! One of the signs that you are growing in administering the things of the Spirit is that *YOU DO IT FROM A HEART FILLED WITH THE REST OF JESUS*!

Remember, that YOU CAN DO IT.
You have the HolyGhost.
You can prophesy
You can speak and interpret your tongues
You can minster the power of God
You can give a word of wisdom
You can give a word of knowledge
You can minister Faith
You can work miracles
You have the gift of discerning by the Spirit.

Yes, even though these things belongs to you because you are saved, they will be expressed by you in a greater measure *BY BEING IN THE RIGHT ASSOCIATION (local Church) AND PRACTICE*!

Is this clear ?

Blessed?

Say;

I have the indwelling of the Spirit
I have all the gifts of the Spirit active in me
I flow freely with these things in Jesus Name

Amen!

Grace & Peace!

CONCERNING FORGIVENESS (What Jesus and Apostle Paul taught - Any contrast?) !

The subject of forgiveness or forgiving others must not be sidelined. Some have camped on what Jesus taught in the gospels , and haven't taken out time to ask what was being taught by Him. Was it different from what was taught in the Epistles?

Let's briefly see what Jesus said ,

Mark 11:25-26KJV
[25]And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
[26]But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

In other words ,if you want to enjoy a real prayer life-, if you want to enjoy your private fellowship with Jesus , you must let go of every hurt and Ill-will towards others in your heart.
But this is not where I am aiming at. Where I want to briefly explain is the "b" part of verse 25 and the whole of verse 26.

Now , pay attention to the "b" part of verse 25, it says - 'That your Father also which is in heaven may forgive your tresspasses'.

Now if we are to take this literally , it will mean 'When we forgive others , then God will forgive us'. And of course, verse 26 says 'If we don't forgive others , God won't forgive us' !

The question that we should ask are these;

1. 'How does God forgive' ?

2 'Do we need to forgive others before He forgives us' ?

Let's see from scriptures ,

Ephesians 2:4-5KJV
[4]But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
[5]Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved.

You can see clearly that His love towards us is a free gift , it was what He purposed in His heart ,

Ephesians 1:5KJV
[5]Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, ACCORDING TO THE GOOD PLEASURE OF HIS WILL.

His own will !

Very clear.

Romans 5:8KJV
[8]But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

While we were sinners , rebels , - yet , He chose to love and forgive us ,

Ephesians 1:7 KJV
[7]In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.

Forgiveness of sins is a gift to us in Christ , not because of our good works ,

Ephesians 2:9KJV
[9]Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Let's see one more ,

Titus 3:4-5KJV
[4]But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
[5]Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

All these scriptures and many others shows us that God's forgiveness towards us is independent of our good works.
In other words - 'He doesn't forgive us because we forgive others, He HAS forgiven us forever by the precious blood of His Son - Christ Jesus' ,

Revelation 1:5KJV
[5]And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood.

Let's now go back to what Jesus said and explain it based on our new understanding ,

Mark 11:25KJV
[25]And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
[26]But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

We can now read verse 25 like this - 'And when ye stand praying , forgive, if ye have ought against any: BECAUSE THAT IS HOW YOUR FATHER FORGIVES YOU OR HAS FORGIVEN YOU' !

Verse 26- But if ye do not forgive , THIS IS NOT HOW YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER FORGIVES YOU OR HAS FORGIVEN YOU' !

In other words , we forgive and we will continue to forgive others because we have seen how our Father forgave us all our wrongs In Christ.

WE DON'T FORGIVE OTHERS FOR GOD TO FORGIVE US , WE RATHER FORGIVE BECAUSE WE HAVE RECEIVED HIS FORGIVENESS IN CHRIST' !

We don't do things to 'make God do something' , we 'do because of what He has done already' !

We 'do' to express the life He has given to us in Christ !

No wonder Apostle Paul could say these words - ,

Ephesians 4:32KJV
[32]And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

We forgive AS God has forgiven us IN CHRIST' , Not so that He will forgive us.

Colossians 3:13KJV
[13]Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

Even as Christ FORGAVE (past tense) , not 'will forgive' !

But sir , you don't know what so and so did to me , you don't know how he treated me ?

After all I did for this person , he could do this to me ?

I understand all these, and naturally speaking , it's painful to be hurt by people , especially those whom you love and trust.

But, look at what God did for you in Christ , and how He has blotted out your sins -Past , present and future', AND FORGIVE LIKE HIM !

He doesn't and will never remember your wrongs ,

Hebrews 8:12KJV
[12]For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

You will have to consciously 'Let go' of every hurt and every pain others might have caused you.

Rather than carry grudges in your heart , pray for that person or persons ,

Matthew 5:44KJV
[44]But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and PRAY FOR THEM which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

God has so forgiven you in Christ , so , put off that hurt now, and serve the Lord with a free heart!

Now, concerning what Jesus and Apostle Paul taught -

Jesus was teaching the life (conduct) of the new creature by asking his disciples (as well as us) to forgive like our Father does and it is same with what Apostle Paul taught !

Is unforgiveness a sin ?
Yes.

Does it have bad consequences ?
Yes.

Are these consequences from God ?
No !

The consequences of unforgiveness are from our choices!

For example,

We are the ones who will not be able to pray effectively or receive answers to our prayers when we don't forgive others.

We are the ones who will feel guilty in our conscience when we refuse to forgive.

Good relationships and friendships would be lost when we refuse to forgive.
Etc.

All these are not from God , but from our attitude of unforgiveness!

This is why every believer needs to understand 'HOW THE FATHER HAS FORGIVEN US UNCONDITIONALLY IN CHRIST' And let that FORGIVENESS flow unto others ,no matter what they have done to us !

Have a glorious day.

God has blessed you!
