FAITH BOOSTER
Topic: Holy Spirit
Bible Passages: Exodus 19:1-21; Acts 2:1-20
We magnify the Lord, Trinity for His faithfulness and loving kindness in our lives. May His name be highly exalted in Jesus' name.
Happy Pentecost Day! May Spirit of Lord continue to abide with us in Jesus name.
The Holy Spirit is the Third of the Trinity. It is the Comforter, Guide, Advocate, the Spirit of Truth, the Messenger, the Teacher and the Intercessor Christ promised to send to us. He is saddled with the responsibility of finishing the work of salvation started in Christ Jesus. He is faithful like God, the Father who delivered the children from the clutch of the Egyptians.
The Holy Spirit is holy. No unholiness can come near God. He lives in us hence our body is the Lord's temple (1 Corinthians 3:16). Our body therefore we must keep holy.
In the first Bible Passage, God, the Father, the First of the Trinity instructed the children of Israelites to sanctify themselves two days ahead of their encounter with Him on Mount Sinai. This emphasizes sanctification and consecration in our journey with God. He is a consuming fire and He tolerates no disobedience hence He instructed the Israelites not to touch Mount Sinai on their day of encounter with Him.
In the second Bible passage, we see the third personality of God, the Holy Spirit. The Scripture is the fulfilment of the prophecy of the Lord through Prophet Joel and the promise of our Lord Jesus to send us the Holy Spirit to remind us His teachings (Joel 2:28-32; John 14:15-17; 15:26-27).
The criterion for manifestation of the Holy Spirit is oneness. It couldn't have descended on the apostles if they harbour grudge, hatred, envy, backbiting, jealousy, spite, vendetta among others and engender discord, dissension and disunity. God is not an author of confusion. His house is a place of encounter; your preparedness to appear before Him determines what you get in His presence. Let's dwell in holiness and love and let it flow without deceit in the church, our home, in our respective lives and everywhere we go.
The presence of Holy Spirit in our lives enables manifestation of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:7) and brings forth fruits of the Spirit. Our priority as believers should be fruits of the Spirit which are fruits evident of a child of God (Galatians 5:22). Anybody can manifest the spiritual gifts, even the devil. They are for power and exploits. Obedience is cardinal to our journey of faith. You can't grow in Spirit if you continue in sin for it is an act of disobedience against God's will.
Spiritual discipline and intelligence is also core to growing in the Holy Spirit. A child of the Spirit bridles their tongue and desire, is not greedy, promiscuous neither is he or she a gluttonous eater. Many have fallen from grace beyond discernment because of these traits. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego stood out because they had spiritual discipline and intelligence (Daniel 1). The Bible is our sword of the Spirit and the lens through which the dictates of the Holy Spirit is confirmed. If it contradicts the will of God in His words, it is not of God. You and I must therefore read and meditate on the word of God so it can give us good success for guidance and interpretation (Joshua 1:8) and fast and pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). You and I cannot have a successful journey with the Lord if you lack them.
To kickstart this journey of faith today or realign yourself with God, give your life to Christ and accept Him as your Lord and personal Saviour.
He loves you!
Prayer: Father I thank you for your abiding presence. I submit myself to your will, establish me in you in Jesus' name.
