_28TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B_
*Wisdom does not come with age or status. Wisdom is a gift from God which helps us in our decisions and choices*

The first reading of today (Wisdom 7:7-11), tells of the love of Solomon for wisdom above wealth, riches and power. It tells us that wisdom does not belong to human nature and is not a property of kings or rulers. Even Solomon had to ask for it in order to receive it. Wisdom does not come with age or class, it is a gift from a Superior being; God.
The gospel (Mark 10:17-30) tells us the difference between knowledge and wisdom. Knowledge is human while wisdom is a divine application of knowledge. A man confronts Jesus with the question of what must be done to inherit eternal life. Jesus told him what he must not do and he was quick to state how long he has been observing the commandments. But when Jesus told him what he must do he walked away, because he had great possessions. He started well, Jesus loved him and opened to him, wisdom that would reward him with treasure, but he left sorrowfully and disappointed for he had great possessions. He made a choice to stick by his wealth and away from Jesus.

God has given us the gift of wisdom which helps us in our decisions and choices. There are decisions we have made in life that brought us destructions, failures and regrets, simply because we chose to be wicked, greedy, unforgiving, selfish etc. and walk away from God's wisdom of love, kindness and forgiveness.

In our country today, those who have the knowledge with Phd, masters, doctorate degrees, professionals who should be rulling and applying their knowledge with wisdom, making themselves vessels of God have chosen to make themselves slaves of power, wealth and riches. Your decisions either make you or destroy you.

As we begin a new week, like Paul, let us always pray for understanding and present our plans to God that He may give us the wisdom to execute them successfully. No matter how difficult it may seem, it is never impossible, for with God all things are possible.
Have a great Sunday.

_SOLEMNITY OF EPIPHANY_
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Epiphany, which is the manifestation or revelation of Jesus, not just to the Gentiles, but to the whole world.

Epiphany therefore commemorates the many ways through which Jesus has revealed himself to us. There are three events that brought to light his mission and divinity, they are: *the visitation of the three kings or Magi (Mt 2:10-12), the baptism of Jesus (Mk.1:9-11), and the miracle at Cana (Jn.2:1-11),* and the manifestaion of Christ to the Magi, led by the Star is the greatest self-revelation of God to His people. The gospel of today (Matthew 2:1-12), presents to us the visitation of the three wise kings (the Magi). They came to adore and offer gifts to the new born king, Jesus Christ โ€“ Gold, Frankincense and myrrh.

In the Baby Jesus, the Light of God has shone all over the world. This Light is an invitation to a true worship. For the wise, it is the Light that illumines (Lumen Gentium) and that guides us to God. For those with unclean hearts that are perturbed by the fear of losing their worldly gains, it is the Light that is to be put off at all cost. Like the wise men, may we discover the Lord with the precious gifts of our very selves; Amen. Like Herod, may we not loose hold of ourselves to Jealousy and envy as a result of the presence of the eternal good. For when we focus on what do not have, we will lose sight of what we have. Herod lost it when he ordered the murder of the babies. We must learn to celebrate other people's success and progress instead of being intimidated; because, it is in celebrating others that we are celebrated.

As we begin a new week let us turn our hearts to Christ the light, to sanctify our intentions and guide us in our actions. No matter how difficult it may be, it is never impossible, for with God all is possible.
Have a wonderful Sunday.
