TOPIC: JESUS FEEDS THE FIVE THOUSAND

The feeding of the five thousand men was a miracle of divine provision and multiplication. The multitudes gathered around Jesus and His disciples in a solitary place. On seeing them, Jesus was moved with compassion because they were like sheep without a shepherd. Sheep without a shepherd are usually exposed to danger, lack of guidance and hunger, and can easily stray. Likewise, lives without Jesus the good shepherd, are vulnerable to many dangers.

Jesus the good and chief shepherd responded to the crowd by teaching them. Leaders in any capacity should equally devote time, like Jesus, for their members to imbibe kingdom values. When the day was over, the disciples faced a big challenge of feeding the hungry multitude. With five loaves of bread and two fish left, it became an impossible task for them, but not for Jesus, who is Lord over all situations. Consider what Jesus did in verse 41. He first of all looked up to heaven. This shows that answers to difficult situations can only come from heaven. With God in control, five thousand men were fed and twelve baskets were gathered as leftover.

Beloved, Jesus is still our good and chief shepherd, hence when we look up to heaven for every situation, we shall not want.

PRAYER: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
